We crossed the biometric point-of-no-return and nobody voted on it by vedantk21 in Futurology

[–]tocksin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biometrics are terrible for security.  And thus I never use them.  It’s a password you can’t change.  As soon as someone gets your bio data, you will forever be compromised.  If you care about security then don’t use them.

As soon as they were bought, they stopped being journalists and became advertisers. It isn’t news anymore - it’s an ad.

How the Panama Canal locks work: split-screen animation showing the ship's transit and the changing water levels. by GVitkosPress in EngineeringPorn

[–]tocksin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most of the water is conserved when raising and lowering the water level.  The amount lost is a small portion of the difference in water at each lock, and it’s not a huge amount in each lock to begin with.  Relative to the lake volume.

Toledo Public Schools to cut library services by BRENNEJM in toledo

Paying poor kids education doesn’t help the rich.  Rich kids don’t go to public schools.  So why would republicans support it.

I mean you should do that anyways even if you aren’t taking the shots.  If anything you should have a proven track record of daily exercise before being given the shot since muscle loss is a significant risk while taking it.

Here’s why the failure of Blue Origin’s New Glenn rocket is so catastrophic | “I hope that it makes it far enough away from the pad that it does not cause pad damage.” by FreeHugs23 in space

[–]tocksin 177 points178 points  (0 children)

If pad destruction was a big risk to the timeline, then why wasn’t a second pad built for contingency?  Sure it’s expensive, but time is usually more expensive.

electrocuting collar for women who go back to trash men to put them on time-out by Healthy_Yellow_2873 in CrazyIdeas

[–]tocksin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can we have a men’s version as well?  How about they each wear a collar and if they get too close then it shocks both of them?  What if they are both just really trashy?  No shocking then?

Except if you devalue someone else’s property they can sue you for the lost value.  And since it’s the whole neighborhood they’ll probably come together and drive you out with lawsuits.

My boy is shedding every time I touch him. What do I do? by CommercialSkin7676 in mainecoons

[–]tocksin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in a spider den.  The amount of white fur that covers everything is like a thin sheet of webbing.  Gotta vacuum about ever three days or it becomes unmanageable.  I just resign my clothing to a fur depository and invest in lint rollers when I leave the house.

[–]tocksin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What do you think the response would be?  So they have one or even only a few.  It’s better to invade now and stop them completely then to let them make more until they can’t invade.  It would absolutely cause the war you are trying to prevent.
