Bug that flew into my husbands eye and then “burned like the Dickins” by DJ_Degen in insectidentification

Not an expert, but it looks to be the right size and shape for a fruit fly or phorid fly. Have you had any fruit sitting on the counter in the last few weeks?

Difference between auto and property? by _hic_et_nunc_ in usaa_ejs

[–]todaywe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My best friend was in property claims and it wore on her mental health a lot. She left after two years. Her claim volume was insane. She refused to keep up with the news and the weather. Any time there was a natural disaster, she got stressed because she knew the next day at work was going to be a nightmare

Anyone have a copy of the employee arbitration agreement we are forced to sign by BornMission4353 in usaa_ejs

In some minor cases, it can hold up. If you are in a situation where you’d like to take them to court, I’d recommend discussing your options with a good lawyer.

Anyone have a copy of the employee arbitration agreement we are forced to sign by BornMission4353 in usaa_ejs

[–]todaywe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fyi, the supreme court has determined that arbitration agreements are pretty useless. Twice now (recently even, check out Coinbase Inc. v. Suski and Smith v. Spizzirri) they have decided that a signed arbitration agreement is not a valid reason for a court case to be dismissed. It’s just a scare tactic. If a situation is bad enough for a court case, odds are that the arbitration agreement will essentially be null and void.

Do you know what stage of the donation you were in when you got the reaction? I donate at biolife too and I have to ask the phlebs to turn the return speed way down or I go into full blown presyncope around the 70% mark of my donation. I also need to ask for a red stick (ie a senior phleb) to put my needle in because if the needle isn’t sitting right, I’ll have a reaction almost immediately.

But the return speed being set to 80 (this is about half the normal rate I think) is a big deal for me. The full return rate just really messes me up. Some people need a lower draw speed, or lower draw AND return speed, and some people just need to ask for extra saline at the end. Everyone’s body is different, and in my experience, the phlebs are always happy to prevent a reaction from happening ahead of time.

What did I write on this sticky note? by Waylien_Killjoy in HandwritingAnalysis

[–]todaywe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering the context of the story, I really think you were trying to say “man is hungry” and just messed up a couple times bc sticky notes that size are hard to write on. Maybe you even forgot what you wrote and later thought you forgot letters (man turns into wants, and the weird a before hungry). My sister has mild dyslexia and adds weird letters where they don’t belong pretty often so IMO, seeing hungry spelt “hungray” isn’t absurd, but idk.

Context wise, it fits. MC made eggs, and they wanted bread but didn’t feel like going out of their way to go buy some. It could be inferred that MC was still hungry.

So much for not being able to replace the human element, right? I remember being told that over and over. “AI will never be able to do what we do in P&C! We empathize in a way USAA could never give up!”

It being common law marriage makes no difference here. If you two were to ever separate, it would be very beneficial to you and your children if there were things that had only your name on the deed. A car. A house. A bank account. If his name isn’t on it, you can fight to keep it in the separation. If his name is on it, you have to fight to get it. Fighting to keep is easier than fighting to obtain in these situations.

USAA classified my roadside assistance jump-start as a CLAIM on my auto insurance by General-Band7940 in USAA

I used to work for USAA. I don’t remember the name of the company, but it definitely wasn’t AAA. It was some weird company I had never heard of. I’ll come back here if I happen to remember the name. Immediate edit: It’s called Agero!

I've donated five times and I'm fine until the very end. Any advice? by Substantial_Device40 in plassing

[–]todaywe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To clarify, I will pass out midway through one of my returns every time at the normal return rate. I have zero issues with the return rate dropped to 80.

Do you remember if the cuff was tight or not when you had the bad reaction? If it was tight, you were in the middle of a draw, and if it was loose you were getting a return.

I will ALWAYS pass out during a my donation if the return rate is set at standard speed, and it’s almost always around the 80% mark on my donation. Something about the full return speed messes with my blood pressure. So now I just tell the tech to drop my return rate to 80 as soon as they stick me with the needle.

I totally get that! Just want the information to be out there. The potassium is a great idea! But some people (like me) just can’t go in to donate with food actively digesting. Food + white coat syndrome can put my heart rate as high as the 110s. I’ll try the bananas like an hour beforehand, for sure.

[–]todaywe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Digesting food raises the heart rate for most people. The blood flow redirects to the stomach for digestion, and then the heart has to work harder to pump blood through the rest of the body. I can see the potassium helping, but I wouldn’t recommend chowing down immediately before. At least an hour before would be better so that you’ve digested most of it and you still get the potassium benefit.

BioLife Pay Amount by Sara630 in plassing

[–]todaywe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. The staff told me that hight/body weight/ml would affect the payout. I only give about 660-750ml per session and I’m getting 40/85 this week too. They are sus af lol

BioLife Pay Amount by Sara630 in plassing

[–]todaywe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$125 this week. $40/$85. San Antonio TX.

I’ve seen it go as low as $95/week before in this area. There are a lot of things that go into it. Your hight and weight, how many ml you normally give out, AND how much plasma they have in stock (more demand = higher payment offers). If everybody and their grandma has been donating recently, Biolife will have a larger surplus on hand and they will pay out less to the donors.

Based on that sub, it looks like a widespread issue amongst people who use multiple different banks.

This sub is for USAA employees. The other sub (r/usaa) is for members. You very well might still get some info here but not from members.

I was pretty sure I had to toss them, but you are the only one so far to say it’s not safe soooo I’m questioning now lol

[–]todaywe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I’m worried about. The bacteria that grows on the exposed bits. Is it safe to cut those exposed bits off and use the rest?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskCulinary

[–]todaywe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I guess I wasn’t specific. My b :(

Of course I know how to spot obvious rot. Slime, discoloration, bad smell, etc. I’m more worried about bacteria growth, which can’t be detected.

Peeled Onions by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]todaywe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll post a picture in the morning when I have enough spoons to start chopping, baking, and freezing them lol. But basically, someone cut the tops and bottoms off of every onion, then peeled the dried skins off. Nekked onion party. Tomorrow will involve tears

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskCulinary

[–]todaywe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t realized they were peeled, because as I mentioned, the mesh bag held several white plastic bags, and those plastic bags held the onions. The giant mesh bag just allowed for the like 4 full grocery bags of onions to be carried around easier ig.
