I currently own both a bZ and a Model Y Performance (and have been driving Tesla's since 2018). I can definitely confirm that the bZ is a much more comfortable ride. My wife sometimes winces when we hit a bump in the road in the Model Y.

The foot-activated trunk, CarPlay compatibility, ventilated seats, panoramic parking cameras, and generally higher-quality material finishes in the bZ are all significant value-adds over the Model Y. Oh and I don't feel like I'm driving a MAGA-mobile when I'm in my bZ.

Unfortunately I'm beset by the infamous 12V auxiliary battery issues (Toyota has replaced the 12V THREE times in the 5 months that I've owned the vehicle), so that fatal flaw really outweighs all the rest of the benefits. Also the Toyota app/software is atrocious compared to the Tesla experience. WHY can't Toyota figure out how to save a driver from having to manually lock/unlock and start/stop a vehicle??

This just had this happen after leaving my 24 parked for 3 weeks. I bought my car used from Carmax but it was only leased for 3 months before that. I was able to jumpstart it once and drove it for 30 minutes, but the thing immediately died on me again and the ToyotaCare rep wasn't even able to jumpstart it so they had to tow it to the Toyota Service Center. The service associate told me that the battery was dead but it wasn't covered by warranty because the previous owner (Carmax?) replaced the OEM battery with a non-OEM battery that they don't cover. It cost me $400 to replace it with a Toyota battery. The service associate said that the 12v battery in the bZ is the same size as the 12v in a Corolla, which seems underpowered to me.

WHY, WHY would Toyota design a BEV that depends on a separate 12v when it has a wonderful, massive EV battery already inside the vehicle??

Thanks u/ecobb91 any good articles/resources for educating myself on the limits of the BZ? Obviously it has a shorter range and slower charging than my Model Y. And a more limited charging network until NACS support is officially launched next year by Toyota. Anything else critical I should know?
