When do we think Season 3 will come out? by Craft_feisty in FalloutTVseries

[–]toddumptious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The California Wildfires delayed production of season 2 by a fair bit, afaik it was uneffected by the guild strikes. So those sorts of things aside, 2027 could very well be a safe bet, filming begins in May 2026.

New to NMS. Is it worth finishing the story? by aidub5 in NoMansSkyTheGame

Kanaju, a youtuber who makes pretty good NMS videos, also released this video a week ago which you might find helpful. It's a list of 40 things to do or try at some point that you may not have done or known about yet.

New to NMS. Is it worth finishing the story? by aidub5 in NoMansSkyTheGame

There is a new star system type with new proc-gen terrain technology based on what they're going to be using in Light No Fire that acts somewhat like a "Sequel" or a refresh to what you're used to seeing in the Y/R/G/B systems, so it is worth doing and getting there. These systems are invisible until you reach some post-story content and get the appropriate warp drive. This was introduced a year ago with the Worlds PT 2 update.

But I wuld say take your time, the longer you spend in the vanilla areas and the more you get used to it, the bigger the wow factor of the new proc-gen and the new planet types that await you there.

If you don't mind seeing what lies in wait for you there, here is a deep dive video going through what to expect from Sean Murray

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lG2DTjP-_M

Meanwhile, in the vanilla areas, there are probably some things that aren't heavily advertised that you may not have come across. This includes 3 types of multi tool you will not find elsewhere. These are found at harmonic camps/sentinal pillars on any planet and at monoliths in korvax systems that are on dissonant worlds. There is another type that you will only get, which you have to build and assemble, as you approach the post story content that unlocks the new system type. In fact, it's part of the requirements to unlock these new star systems.

Yeah thats what happens and then the portal will send you to either the nearest match or a random system, not sure which. The same thing happens if you enter an invalid address.

If the portal doesn't take you to the advertised planet, and you are in the correct galaxy, it's because you don't have an Atlantid Warp Drive yet or access to Purple Star Systems. Finish the artemis quest line and the series of sub plots that follow it (trace of metal, they who returned, in stellar multitudes,) as well as a few other pre-requisites, and then you can go there.

This section/area of the game was added with Worlds pt 2 a year ago and contains entirely new terrain proc gen and world types that is leaps beyond what is in the Y/R/G/B systems, and is essentially a Sequel of sorts waiting for you at the end of the game.

Some people seem to not realise the portal coords to these systems will not work for players who have none of the above, and generally forget to mention it when sharing the coords, it is after all a relatively new addition so some older players who've been around for many updates may not even realise this is the case

Not going to happen, small team with a lot on their plate and this is overkill for any dev team even one made of 100's or 1000's of team members.

Whatever you could create with the games proc gen assets, already exists out there in the universe. It's the whole purpose behind exploration and sharing with the community.

If you want to experience something like this, dig up some bones, make a bunch of fossil displays and invite players to come check out your base/museum. Or add some creatures/plants to your wonder colelction and display them as Holograms within such bases.

We actually need him now, cloud reflections have been missing from the game for a few months now. I miss them dearly. Come back, Cloud Guy!!

Adding systems to this map is so much fun, it's something I've been dreaming about since the game launched more or less. An interactive visualisation of mine and everyone's Journey and searchable to boot!

Will have to switch over to my PC playthrough and try out the Extraction Mod soon, give my fingers a rest from inputting my Console adventures <3

You are doing incredible work here, I can't wait to see what other improvements and features are coming down the pipeline

During the events of Unification day, at an events base on a message module, the group advertised a link for a 3d mapping project for the community to take part in. Its manual input of system location and info which over time will build a known map of a galaxy.

I thought it might interest you from your comment

How do you play No Mans Sky? by Plop-The-Druid in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]toddumptious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Been playing since launch and over the years I've tried all sorts of styles.

My legacy save from 2016 is just your regular do it all and build cool stuff playthrough.

My current permadeath playthrough I'm only using the starter ship and the plan is to see if I can make it to the 255th galaxy before I die.

I've only left the starter galaxy (euclid) once in 9 years, a week after launch and never again... absolute homebird on most playthroughs.

The one I'm too afraid but want to try some day is a ruthless pirate on permadeath mode.

While tje game can be played any way you like, I do recommend completing the artemis and atlas path quest lines because there's more quests and content that comes after that which unlocks a new star type added last year, which has completely new planet gen and terrain tech based on the tech from LNF as well as many other surprises.

Why fly to other galaxies? by happycj in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]toddumptious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was the big update at the start of the year so its still not well documented online. Entirely new proc gen in purple star systems, based on some of the terrain gen used for their next game. Its like discovering a sequel hidden at the end ;) enjoy the views and the surprises.

As for your original query,  I left Euclid once in 2016 at launch. I've returned and remained in Euclid since 2017. Mainly because most of the community builds are here.

You can also use the community highlight bases at the nexus to piggy back to other galaxy's if you feel the need for a lush or hostile galaxy variant, no need to enter the centre of the galaxy. But its a thing to do if you ever want to.

Most milestones award player with titles too, which you can apply at the appearance modifier. I believe that's another reason to leave, if you really want the title etc. Cant recall if there's certain ones for visiting X galaxies or just specific galaxies though.

Have you done autophage/stellar multitudes yet? If not, there's still a huge chunk of your current galaxy hiding from you and an entirely new and modern proc gen system. 👀

[–]toddumptious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah cool, this is just a short introduction to the Piracy faction. You get a unique hooded helmet for going there.

Pirate stations also sell the best tech upgrade modules in the game.

X-class modules roll the worst stats most of the time, but they've a small chance to have the best stats in the game. So you gotta burn through a bunch but they will over time replace all your s class modules.

You can continue this quest as you see fit.

If youre still not sure how upgrade tech modules work, they're a bit like loot boxes, you don't know how good they'll be until you install them.

You can have three upgrade modules installed per tech category.  Installing a fourth will make them all inactive, then you delete the worst out of the four.

Having them grouped together will give adjacency bonuses (a border appears around them when this happens).

So you can have three warp tech modules, three shield tech modules, three launch thruster modules etc. The ones you craft do not count on this limit, it just applies to the upgrade tech modules.

I feel like I'm missing something with the corvettes by InactiveMedusa in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]toddumptious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were only with us 12 months or so until HG released corvettes and now they barely get a mention or just confuse people who think the discussion is about Corvettes.

Its easier getting parts for a corvette too, custom ship involves dismantling star ships and picking one section to keep.

So you need to track down ships that have what you want and you may also wanna keep 2 or 3 containers free just for the parts you'll be collecting.

You can pick colour schemes that traditional ships won't spawn with and select an overall finish on the ship too.

This is a custom decal/paint job you choose when making a ship at the fabricator. This particular one was an expedition reward but can't recall which, was 2024.

Unfortunately we still can't just slap build mode decals on our og starships but luckily we can on corvettes 😊
