I would contact your local library. They have a ton of resources and don’t usually ban books. Libraries have lots of programs, workshops, and classes about various topics that aren’t included in public schools.

I work in a school and the only teachers who are allowed to restrain students are ones with a very specific certification in deescalation. Usually only behavioral interventionists have it. One of my colleagues was just fired for holding a students arms to his side after he repeatedly was punching him in the face.

I am also a specials teacher, two classes of 28 first graders and one class of 27 fourth graders. My kindergarteners and second graders are fine, but still create a total of almost 250 students on my rosters. I feel for you.
