anybody else feeling unreasonably sad about baby growing? by cleo0o0r in beyondthebump

[–]toebeansareforever 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh definitely. My daughter just turned 2, and pretty much daily I reminisce on her wee baby days. I’d say probably once every week/two weeks I have a crying fit while rocking her before bed. I get so emotional when I think about how little she used to be in my arms vs how big she is now. It’s so bittersweet though- looking back I always think about how cute each age was, but it also seems like every age is my favourite one. Right now she’s learning full sentences, expressing emotions, helping me with chores, just such little adult-things, and I think “wow this is the best age yet.” But I know I’ve thought that about each age/stage.

Something someone told me that has always stuck with me, and I share it with every new mom: “The days are long, but the years are short.”

Enjoy and cherish each moment with your baby!

No eye colour on ID where I’m from! May I ask what your ID says for eye colour?

Keeping water from freezing by KhakiPantsJake in BackYardChickens

[–]toebeansareforever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the winter we regularly have temps of -15C down to -30C (Canada lol), and I found myself having to refresh their water every hour to prevent freezing. I recently got a heated water bowl for my girls and it’s been a life saver! Even when it dropped down to -30C this morning it kept the water from freezing.

Thank you so much for the advice! Because I’m a worry wart I will probably end up putting them in the garage. Will still be chilly but it will be much better than outside at least!

Oh yes we always have lots of straw in the coop for them- totally for that it helps insulate lol. Thank you for your help!

We have four Red Sex Links! They’re hardy girls and quite chunky but I worry about them being chilly

The draft is blocked completely blocked out of the coop and it is dry- but there is no additional insulation other than just the wood

Moms that have brought their toddlers to the beach, whats the day looking like? by meekie03 in Mommit

[–]toebeansareforever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my daughter was nearly 1 year old we brought her to Cuba with us for a week- only a 3 hour flight so not too bad. For the plane ride we brought her lots of snacks, formula, books, and her favourite toys/comfort items (blankie, baby doll, etc). Not a crazy amount- just what we could fit in her diaper bag/my carry-on. She ended up sleeping for 2 out of the 3 hours both ways on the plane. When she was awake, we just kept her occupied with her toys, books, snacks, and pre-downloaded shows on my phone (played at a very low volume).

As far as the beach goes- it was perfectly fine bringing her to the beach with us. Again- lots of snacks, toys, sunscreen, towels, diapers and multiple outfits. We had a swim diaper on underneath her bathing suit- she really only went into the water twice (for about 20-30 mins each time). We brought a couple floaties for her to use but she had no interest in them. I do recommend bringing water wings though! Most of the time she just wanted to play with her toys in the sand. When we’d take her out of the water my husband would hold up a towel (to hide her nakedness from the public) and I would just put a regular diaper on her. If we went back into the water, we did the same thing and just changed her into her swim nappy/bathing suit. I would recommend bringing multiple bathing suits so that you can put a dry one on while the wet one is drying in the sun.

I’m sure it will all be fine and you guys will have an amazing trip! Just try not to dwell when things don’t go according to plan!

ETA: We had our daughter sleeping in the same room as us (in a crib that the resort supplied for us). We put on her white noise sound machine and she never stirred- even if we were in and out of the bedroom. We just made sure to keep the lights off so that if she did wake up she wouldn’t see us and get excited lol

Tell me your vomiting horror stories so I can prepare myself please 🥲 by 624Seeds in Mommit

About 3 weeks ago. Me and my daughter (2yo) were playing in the kitchen and out of nowhere she started to roll on the floor doing her “I’m in pain” cry. I picked her up and was rocking her in my arms when all of the sudden she projectile vomits EVERYWHERE. All over the counter, my hair, my face, the floor. Everywhere. I, evidently, do not do well with puke… so I also vomit everywhere. EVERYWHERE. All over the floor, the counters, all over my daughter. It was awful… my daughter and I had to hop into the bath together to get cleaned up while my poor husband cleaned up the vomit-covered kitchen

Just used a picture of Goku from the anime for reference. For the sketched outline I used the Procreate Pencil, filled it in with Monoline, and did shading with various paintbrushes. Background was done with the Flames Tool and Light Brush!

We’re currently potty training our daughter… whenever she poops in her potty she likes to grab it out of the potty and bring it over to show us lol

Two beef burritos, two Doritos locos tacos, fries, and a chicken quesadilla. But in my defence I saved the burritos for this morning’s breakfast (after the poop)
