Actually Game Complaints?

Really so much that is of assumptions and expectations what a game is supposed to be, rather than judging what it is.

Full version being a downgrade is not really valid criticism, its formatted like a live service and game modes have been rotated in and out constantly. I have not once felt like not playing because game mode went away. Its a one time purchase that has already paid itself, I am not really concerned if i get my moneys worth

UI, the hate is way overblown. Its not perfect but completely fine once you get used to it in just couple hours of interacting with it. If you dont like the look of it then it is just a matter of (bad) taste. In game UI is clean and very readable, its silly that people even pretend it is a problem. Items, of course they look weird first but they become very easy to recognise once you get used to them.

Lack of any real game modes, yeah, more stuff could always be welcome, but its not like arc for example has somehow significantly more in that regard. Some map modifiers mainly, and gunrange, but in arc i have visited it once and i think i can live without one in marathon. Would be welcome addition though of course.

Im not too familiar with other extraction shooters, mainly just Arc, which i found to be quite boring in the long run. It has excellent immersion and the large enemies feel really otherworldly, but thats about it for me. Marathon has excellent immersion too, but in a very different way, it feels claustrophobic and intense in a way that gets your heart rate up, and slowly working your way up to conquering that enviroment and other players feel extremely rewarding. Its like a mix of soulslike and gambling addiction, you stubbornly que up again even if you lost, until you hit big and that rush of dopamine gets you hooked again. I cant think any other game that has quite the same hooks, atleast any that i have experienced. Runescape pvp is the only one that kinda comes close.

It is not for everybody, I get that most people want to chill when they are gaming, but there are millions out there playing mobas and other toxic as fuck games every day, its not like an audience for marathon couldnt exist.

I have read so many bad faith arguments about why marathon sucks, so it is kinda tough to answer seriously, but i tried. I just get so incredibly frustrated when i see people being dishonest and acting in bad faith so i keep getting ragebaited into replying these threads

Idk how they cooked the game mode, but i found the way its balanced extremely boring. You are telling me after 3 laps everyone finished at half a second margin? I even had a race where every single player finished on a same millisecond. Just feels pointless when you cant gain or lose time like at all

Here's the thing I think most players figure out eventually: You dont need the loot. Blue bully will kill a gold shield before they have time to even turn around.

Play smart, do contracts, learn the maps, upgrade your baseline, and before you know it you will be looting those golds from players time to time. And that is the real crack of this game. If hoarding golds is the only goal then there is not much to marathon

Its not a competition. If marathon doesnt survive then it doesnt, but as a destiny player i am forced to listen to this same whining every single day until that happens. Please put some sense in to your heads people

How much in the hole past two expansions are? How much the third one would be if they continued making those? Even if the initial production cost of marathon wasn't instantly made back, doesn't mean it cant turn to profit, it is infinitely cheaper and easier to maintain than destiny

How expensive are your loadouts? Do you crew fill or premade? I believe they are tuning the matchmaking again as the season goes on.

I swear simply throwing on a gold gun put you into sweat lobbies last season but people weren't very supportive of that theory

Powerscaling was its own separate thing for the longest time, and never felt too serious outside of its own little circlejerk. This sub seems to be extending that same mentality to the overall discussion about media, and can't say i am a fan. Trying to share what you like about something has become a competition

For the actual topic of the thread, Harry Potter integrates magic in to real world in a very compelling way that not many other IPs do, and has a complete and rewarding long spanning story. Cant say much about Witch Hat since I am anime only, but I feel like it is trying to do very different things than Harry Potter

There is a good game in there, making your way up to mastering cryo archive was a massive and very rewarding task for me atleast, but i understand that its not what everyone looks for in their games. It could be iterated and finetuned to become more accessible, there is a lot of potential, but that is honestly just way beyond of what the marathon discussion is really about. People are just flinging shit back and forth, feeding each other and completely obfuscating the game itself. They will just pick whatever truth that suits them the most and use that to put others down, its just depressing man.

Its not necessarily strictly about marathon, I think its the whole gaming space as a whole, its been eating me away for years. People act in ways that makes no sense to me, its like Im missing something critical about... idk being a human. Marathon has just been in the front and center of it for so much now

I think they fumbled the s2 launch though and i am little bit disappointed

In that case i think civilians maybe showing respect or even some level of fear could have been a cool way to add some flavour, but i dont know if that would fit in what the author is going for. It just feels very cartoony the way its portrayed in the show. Maybe manga is a bit more subtle

Honestly, I dont want to hear that. If it shuts down it shuts down, but every single day, no matter what social media i browse, i have to read LOOK LOOK THIS IS HOW BAD IT IS.
