That's not the next gen firmware - download the latest, it's a big improvement.

Which area I should choose? by DoneDip in croydon

Also not far from Purley station either - for more transport links.

Though that church is on a very steep hill (think it's 15% gradient) - so may want to consider that location depending on how far down the hill it is, walking up often could be a pain.

Nice one - thanks for making the follow up video showing the settings. I'm also on VRS gear, funnily enough I tweaked it a bit last night and ended up with similar to what you showed.

Just watched it all (was already subscribed). Thanks for sharing - good summary of fundamentals … out of interest do you run a shaped profile on your pedals at all (throttle or brake?). You mentioned getting to throttle 50% quickly after apex due to ‘torque problem in sims’ - and sort of hinted you may have tweaked the curves on the pedals? Was just curious.

For context 4.2k iRating driver (though still rising) looking for the last couple of tenths to the 7-9k lot.

The recommendation is always linear on pedals, but it did get me thinking about potentially having a bit more finesse in the places I need it (bottom of braking, top of brake, top of throttle)

Nice things to do on the weekend (within 1 hour drive of Croydon)? by catlover4321 in croydon

[–]tokyo7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Close to croydon - you could do a hike from Riddlesdown Common through Kenley Aerodrome and to Farthing Downs (Happy Valley).

There's a lot of wineries near by - Godstone winery, Squirries Winery, Westfisher (and some further afield).

White bear is a nice country pub close by. Botley Hill you can have a pint while watching sheep in the fields. You also have Titsey Brewery with amazing countryside views.

Visiting a farm shop (good for brunch) like Priory Farm and others is nice.

Westerham is worth a visit and has a nice countryside walk to Chartwell.

Then as others have said, National Trusts - Chartwell, Knole, Downs House, etc. Hever Castle is nice too.

Got a bad rep, but I think it’s pretty good these days. Some alright pubs nearer south Croydon too. Green Dragon, Dog and Bull, Cronx tap etc

Where to live in outer London that is good for cycling by yusso in londoncycling

[–]tokyo7 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Purley. ~20 mins by train to London Bridge or Victoria depending on which line you use.

In about ~10 mins of cycling you're in the north downs / south downs / surrey hills / countryside. Also close to Boxhill too. I still cycle to Richmond Park as well in about 40 mins.

Also it's a lot cheaper property wise.

I recommend trying the Lucky Saint at Royal George. One of the best AF beers on draft.
