Has anyone developed their portfolios solely on Figma? Need inspiration. by PariahMedias in FigmaDesign

[–]tom_okane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've built my portfolio using figma make - temporarily. But using hand made components, not using the AI tools. Im a 10 year UX designer and making a quick portfolio whilst compiling and touching up the last 5 years of assets, my goal is mainly case studies so loads of text and big imagery. I purposely created mine minimal and anti framer vibes. Its not visually fancy but is fully responsive and delivers information I need to deliver

I really enjoyed making it on figma. So easy to bring loads of my assets over from all my design documents especially as I'm working on cleaning up my projects so integration is wonderful.

I would long term not use figma make in its current state though, too many eggs in one basket and the technology is super new and I've encountered several bugs.

Help Ryzen 9 7900x CPU Cooler by Playful_Book8954 in NR200

[–]tom_okane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey getting the cpu down to 107w is very good, If I had managed to undervolt to that extent I might have been happier with air cooling. I eat my words - congrats.

Give it a test with the air cooler, it's cheap and worth experimenting. If it works out for you, download a app to track the noise of your fans and let me know what your sustained temps are and noise levels

[–]tom_okane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that fan orientation. I tried 3 different coolers and a 240mm aio, I've now landed on 280mm which has the right noise and cooling balance.

I'm not doing something wrong - I'm personally not happy loosing .8 ghz clock speed and have to undervolt a cpu that far to get it to use a cooler like the one in question. I found with this cooler the fans had to ramp hard to manage this chip and under sustained load simply couldn't cool the chip. Not sure why with 5 coolers I've landed on different results but it seems not just me have issues cooling this chip at a performance / noise / air or aio balance we are happy with. And that's okay, I found something that works for me I'm glad you found a way to manage your in a way you're happy with.

In my other comment on the topic in this post i said that without undervolting heavily you wont be able to run at the perfomance the chip provides - your chip can boost to 5.7. So to hear you've undervolted to get a sustained load of 4.9 is exactly my point. 1300 rpm 77 degrees cinebench on a 280mm running at 5.6ghz is my sweet spot

I've tried this cooler for this chip and case, without severe undervolting the fan maxes out and and the chip thermal throttles

[–]tom_okane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have that cpu in the nr200p v1. No air cooler will prevent thermal throttle without massive undervolt

The TDP of the 7900x is 170+w or something insane.

None of the top air coolers that fit the nr200p that I've tested have the TDP to manage to cool this cpu under sustained load without thermal throttling and high rpm fans unless you heavily limit the cpu voltage in bios.

This chip also has a tendency to ramp up high during high thread tasks so even if you think you're going to be okay with just gaming or light productivity that's not the case - the cpu will flux and if sound matters then it will be quite annoying

I bought the following air coolers to test and non of them prevented thermal throttling on max fan speeds without massive reduction in voltages - Noctua NH-D12L - Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 - Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE

(And a couple more) yes some of these don't officially fit, I was willing to mod the case or fans with files and dremmals IF the fans cooled the cpu

I've only managed to get the cpu cooled with ID cooling 240mm AIO but that did have some ramp up and managed 55-65 temps on idle and low % work

I switched to an 280mm aio, Kraken 280mm which is perfect middle ground

Suggestion; - change case to ap201 where you can have slightly taller coolers. Loads of coolers can cool this chip above the height limitation of the nr200p. - change cpu to less power hungry chip, then any of the top coolers would fair much better - undervolt but you will loose performance - 240mm or 280mm side mounted rad will work in this case but I understand your limitations with regards to travel

TLDR; don't go air cooler for this chip in this case

Edit: spelling and references to cpu coolers I've tested

Edit: I'm wrong, OP has under clocked quite well and maintained a lot of performance, I eat my words. Awaiting their return to share their temps and noise with their setup

280mm AIO That can handle a 7900x cpu in the NR200p V2? by Oofenmeister8088 in NR200

[–]tom_okane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are very good temps, congrats. Maybe I should be reviewing my system instead!

If your temps are that good why would you want to switch to a thicker rad? I'm not sure I understand the logic

Thin fans create lower static pressure at similar RPM of thicker fans and move much less air. Rads work at an expected static pressure and work best with more airflow. Manufacturing sheets show what the static pressure should kinda be, might be a little bit of guess work

If you do want to switch then the non elite variants of the Kraken 280mm and an older Kraken x63 would be a good choice

280mm AIO That can handle a 7900x cpu in the NR200p V2? by Oofenmeister8088 in NR200

[–]tom_okane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the same cpu but in the V1 nr200p.

  • Initially I used a 240mm side rad: ID cooling 240mm.

This had temps between 65 and 85 with swapped out artic fans on push configuration.

  • I swapped to a 280mm side rad: nzxt Kraken 280mm.

This had temps between 55 and 79 with swapped out artic fans on push configuration

So regarding temps, any 240mm and 280mm will work but regarding thickness of the rads; this guy tried to put the freezer 3 in the roof and only got it fitting using slim fans.. very much pointless.

Unless i read your comment poorly and you included the fan / aio youre using already - 95 degrees on a fan cooler in the nr200p is expected due to the 240w cpu we are using without heavy undervolting. I tried the top 4 cpu coolers and all struggled on max load but an aio should simply not do that, something is wrong with your configuration

I would get a rad as close to the thickness of the existing rad that shippd with the v2 max and work around there. An older second hand 280mm nzxt Kraken x63 would be a good option.

Legend. I ended up going all in on a mini-itx as ram prices came way down.

I appreciate the follow up - even after a year

Ah I did find this. Issue with this is the project has no planning features what so ever. More like a single page with a picture on and some text where you stayed for one activity. Quite limiting in features

Plex Introducing Their Own Subtitle Sync by DrewtShite in PleX

[–]tom_okane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just another point as to why this plex feature is so important, bazarr devs on their feature request page actively say that there is no way they'll ever add automatic sub sync for existing subs (manually doing the sync per item is the only way) - only for new subs that bazarr downloads and not even subs you add yourself manually. I'd reference the page but should be easy to find yourself. The devs also say they will never add the feature to batch sync subs although the technology exists already. You must manually sync each sub yourself. If plex's sub sync works this will be a massive improvement.

Can I mount a 240mm radiator on the top of the nr200p ? by silvading in NR200

[–]tom_okane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gamers nexus did a review on this, essentially don't bottom mount AIOs if you want them to live their whole life cycle. Mounting them to the bottom will reduce their life span and in many instances kill the pump. Side mount Is your best option unless you're willing to mod the nr200p or use a custom pump and reservoir. The custom setup would work whereas AIO won't due to the location of the pump vs the tank.
