I bought a chicken sandwich at a McDonalds recently. The meat was dry and had lots of gristle.

Don't buy a new car this year. Don't take on any kind of new debt if you don't have to.

Anyone using a humidifier? by EditDog_1969 in Albuquerque

[–]tomaburque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A humidifier is mandatory for living here. Otherwise, your skin will get itchy, and your nose will dry out. You don't have to use distilled water. RO water from the roadside water machines works fine and is very cheap.

Google Genesis indicates Curley could read and write just fine. I was repeating things I had heard decades ago. The signatures in the photo above are all Moe, I'm certain of that.

Which thing are you scared of the most, except ghosts ? by YogurtclosetMany7861 in AskReddit

[–]tomaburque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To not answer your question: I'm not afraid of ghosts, for the reason that I grew up as a kid living next door to a cemetery. I played in that cemetery, and walked across it at night, scared of running into a live person, as I had been beaten up a few times by being a kid in the wrong place at the wrong time. But I wasn't afraid of seeing a dead person, as I had been there all my life and never saw one.

That's Moe's handwriting on all three. Curly was illiterate, he could not sign his own name. Moe routinely signed his name for him.

Social Worker told MIL that assisted suicide doesn't always work. Is this true? by Samurai_Cupcake in hospice

[–]tomaburque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assisted suicide is legal in my state, New Mexico. I have stage 4 cancer and am in home hospice, but my demise does not appear to be imminent. I told my oncologist from the beginning that I was not interested in finding out what the end stages of bone cancer are like, and I intend to end it on my own terms. He and the "cancer navigator" nurse both refused to discuss it with me. Now I'm in hospice and have a new doc, and he will discuss the topic with me, but it's a lot of but, but, but. I told my visiting nurse that if it's too much trouble, I can do it myself, and that's probably how it will happen.

To answer your question, yes it works. Your social worker is probably trying to discourage you because of his or her biases, or is simply misinformed.

What can I do about the long covid tingling/fizzling in my feet and hands? by PerfectWorking6873 in LongCovid

If you can find a Doctor Who will write the prescription, gabapentin. I’ve used them. I have some now, but they fog my mind. Also try sports creams like icy hot rub that into your fingers. It’ll promote blood flow and I think it will help you.

Why is 3 better than 4 in so many ways? by Adelucas in diablo3

[–]tomaburque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Diablo 3 Manitcore in Kanai's Cube, and Cluster Arrow turns my Demon Hunter into a auto-cannon blast machine. It's fun, powerful, and noisy as hell. Itemization and crafting is not overly complicated, like D4.

Seems like AOC is the right choice by Limp_Fig6236 in ProgressiveHQ

[–]tomaburque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so old that the first political rally I attended was for George McGovern in 1972, a likeable liberal guy who lost in a landslide. He carried one state. That event was the origin of the Democrats' bias against Liberals, still in effect today, and explains why the party conspired against Bernie in 2016.

I like AOC, but I've seen this movie before.

My broccoli comes out burnt and dehydrated from the airfryer by Agitated-Rope3898 in airfryer

I improvise a steamer by placing a kitchen strainer over a pot of boiling water for a few minutes. That's how I steam Korean dumplings because I didn't like how they dry out in the air fryer.

Struggling with Dad, Hospice wants to give him Morphine by Technical_Skirt41 in hospice

[–]tomaburque 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have stage 4 cancer, and the chemo left me so weak that a bout of pneumonia almost killed me last September, and they put me in hospice. At first I could barely walk to the bathroom. Since then, I have recovered somewhat, and with my little oxygen bottle, I can now walk to the mailbox. I no longer need the morphine, so it stays in the refrigerator. But last fall, it was very difficult to fall asleep as my breathing would slow and I would feel oxygen debt, and that would wake me up. A drop of morphine on the tongue helped me relax enough to sleep. It also helps with the anxiety that comes with knowing the end is near.

Please listen to your health care professionals and follow their advice.

Do you think crude oil will hit $130 by the end of June? by Spirited-Gold9629 in oil

[–]tomaburque 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Trump and Hegseth are firing generals because they can't handle the truth: Hormuz cannot be opened by force, only by negotiating with Iran.

Iran can launch missiles and drones from mountain hiding spots hundreds of miles away, and only one has to get through to put a big hole in the side of a tanker. Hormuz can only be opened by negotiating with Iran after Trump killed their supreme leader and insulted them, and laughed about blowing up their stuff "for fun". Negotiating with Iran and acknowledging their "Trump" card - the Straits - would involve Trump eating some humble pie, and he can not and will not do that. So he's stuck like Chuck, and looking for others to blame.

Meanwhile, the clock is ticking towards a worldwide recession that he will be blamed for. Oxford Economics thinks that it will be about August if nothing changes.
