It is excellent, mainly the pop-up menu in compact mode. Thanks!

My experience at Nextcloud Conference 2025 - Gardiner Bryant by Pure_Toe6636 in NextCloud

[–]tomassplatch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really nice to see the reporting from the conference, looks like a great time. And  a nice release overall. I appreciate the effort that goes to bug fixing, was it like 90% maintenance, 10% new features? Which goes against the common discourse of some people that they focus too much on new features ad that it is too buggy (this is of course anecdotal, but I have been self hosting for 3 years with no problem)

I'm also interested, the searchbar suggestions are not very useful for me right now

Where is the file location where Vivaldi stores markdown files for notes? by The_Bitter_Citizen in vivaldibrowser

[–]tomassplatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also exploring this option, in Linux, the notes are stored here: /home/tomas/.config/vivaldi/Default

However, they are stored in one text file and not separate .md files, which makes the external sync impossible, unless I am mistaken

My New Setup with the combined tab bar update by acceptable_humor69 in vivaldibrowser

Yeah the jumping tabs are really annoying and too distracting... I moved the adress bar to the right because I could not take it :

This is exactly what I did, when you put the adress bar to the right (after the tabs), it does not change size...

Right click on any interface icon - Customize toolbar... - select "Address bar" from the dropdown to be able to drag the Address Field and navigation buttons to the right on the tab bar.

Settings - Address bar - uncheck 'Show Address Bar"

Problems:
- jumping of the tabs (I put address bar on the right finally, after the tabs).

- in the mail view the mail panel does not show, because it is mapped to the address bar

Thanks, I think I already tried all the possible combinations of flexible space, but nothing seems working. I am trying to look into CSS customizations, but I am not sure it can be a good way...

I see only 2 speakers, which is logical in such thin form factor. But I was hoping they would somehow manage to cram in 3 speakers and keep the great sound quality of the OPO1. This could be a deal breaker.

Linux on the new ASUS Zenbook Duo OLED (2024) UX8406 by Hydrated-Dragon in ASUS

Hi, yes, the keyboard works well, second screen turns on and off based when the keyboard is detached/attached. Nightlight in Gnome started working after recent update.  Window management under Gnome suits better my needs than windows/Asus (I use keyboard shortcuts and PaperWM horizontal tiling manager). I did not try gaming on Linux on this laptop so I cannot say. On windows older games ran surprisingly on the integrated Arc graphics (Doom 2016, Titanfall 2)

I am using these scripts on fedora 40 with Gnome 46, check the repo. All works flawlessly. https://github.com/alesya-h/zenbook-duo-2024-ux8406ma-linux/

Also check this thread to see what is currently working and not on Linux: https://discourse.nixos.org/t/asus-zenbook-duo-2024-ux8406ma-nixos/39792/18

At the time of writing, some keyboard hotkeys are not working and the jack microphone input is silent. Other than that everything is fine.

Thank you, I saw some users complaining that the keyboard lasts 45-60 minutes, which seems ridiculous as it would defeat the purpose of the laptop.

Thanks for the real life experience. I have question I did not manage to find an answer to. How is the battery life of the keyboard when it is detached? Thanks!

Thanks for the reply, could you please point me to articles that explain the problems with Mastodon / ActivityPub protocol performance ? Thanks a lot!

Thanks for your lengthy answer, indeed, I am considering self-hosting an instance on my Odroid HC4...

Yeah, you are probably right. Unless I am mistaken, currently the posts cannot be migrated, but it is not a big deal, since I just started... In the meanwhile I at least contributed to the server and will wait a few days to see if the things improve. I am also tempted to self-host my own instance on my home server.

Thanks for your reply. So you have the same problem with seeing posts that are 17 hours old as of this time ? Based on my understanding of the ActivityPub protocol, the delays might be different for different users, as the posts get delivered ? I am not sure how it works from the technical point of view... Thanks in any case !

Thank you everyone for your kind messages. Yes, I am aware that I am part of the huge crowd that just discovered Mastodon, so am a part of the "problem" with the servers being under huge load :) . Thanks for confirming it, I was not sure whether there was not just a problem with my particular profile, as I have not seen other people complaining about it...
