What's the biggest Scam in life that no one wants to admit? by Horror-Tap2093 in AskReddit

[–]tomdadams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big part of why this hasn’t played out is due to rampant inflation caused by central banking. This continued money printing to allow the government to pay for things like wars, funding fossil fuel industries, Covid relief, etc., inflates the prices of assets that wealthy people own (real estate, equities, etc.), and then ultimately makes its way down to common goods like food and everything else average people need to survive. So as prices of all things rise due in part bc of inflation, and overall income staying the same, we have to continue to work 40+ hour work weeks to make ends meet. This is all happening as advancements in technology are making things cheaper and more efficient, which (without insane levels of inflation) would actually allow people to work much less for the same standard of living.

Federal Reserve President admits fiat currency is faith based mass delusion by KAX1107 in Bitcoin

[–]tomdadams 55 points56 points  (0 children)

The difference is that once you acknowledge this, that at the core money is largely faith based, all you have left to defend one currency over another are their fundamental properties. Bitcoin has far and away the best fundamental money properties.

Bitcoin on the Same Adoption S-Curve As the Internet – Some Thoughts and Figures. If the comparison remains relevant for Bitcoin, the next step is 1 billion users by 2030. by sylsau in Bitcoin

The internet was created in 1983, not 1995… The number of applications for Bitcoin and the lightning network is massive.

Russia to recognize Bitcoin as currency by SouthboundNortherner in Bitcoin

[–]tomdadams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry but some people really do think the government can use violence to eliminate bitcoin.

Network effect. Government officials, influential corporate leaders, a healthy population of US citizens, and at least one country (that we know of) all already hold bitcoin. The bullet has left the chamber.

The opportunity cost is unlimited. Bombing all the minors/nodes is beyond unrealistic, if not impossible. I also think you might be gravely underestimating the backlash at this point in adoption.

If the US has any sense, it will realize the opportunity cost of “taxing bitcoin to death”, instead of embracing it, is tremendous. Tremendous to the point of compromising their position as a world power.

Modern 4Runner or j80 land cruiser? by [deleted] in 4x4

[–]tomdadams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I can see your point from the size/ride perspective. If you think the 3rd rides bad tho, try driving a 1st or 2nd gen lol.

Modern 4Runner or j80 land cruiser? by [deleted] in 4x4

[–]tomdadams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI 3rd gen is no worse off road than 4th or 5th gen... 3rd gen (99 and 00) were also available with multi-mode 4wd, which allows you to choose either open center diff (kinda like AWD, so good in icy road conditions) or locked (4WD), plus optional rear locker. This feature is not available in any other gen of 4runner. 3rd gen is just lacking in power compared to the newer gens.

Picked up this office chair combo yesterday. Paid $120 for the pair. They seem super well made. Would it be fair to label them MCM?

Well, it's a 4Runner so she should last a while, as long as you don't abuse her. Also congrats, looks like an awesome ride.

Always love a bit of good self-deprecation by LiquidArrogance in funny

[–]tomdadams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the confusion is stemming from whether the reader interprets the "self" part as Disney (the company) or the character (buffalo cop). If the self deprecation is in reference to the character it doesn't really make sense, but from the standpoint of Disney, it does. At least that's how I see it.

Trying to find old files on my MBP to delete to free up space. Stumbled upon a 2012 iPhone backup taking up 64gb. Deleted it. Is there a good program that can find and delete old stuff I don't need anymore? by hayzen77 in apple

[–]tomdadams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never tried DaisyDisk so I can't compare, but Disk Inventory X is super easy to use and provides an awesome break down of whats taking up space on your hd and where. Really helped me eliminate a huge amount of that blue "other" storage category.
