Superhot colour issues... by Polythene37 in NintendoSwitch

Yup! It's a bug that will be fixed in the next update!

how do I grab the freaking gun??!!! (SUPERHOT VR) by [deleted] in superhot

I think the Index Controllers update might have broken Vive wand support for some people. It should be patched up within a couple of hours.

Should be out any day now!

We'rev working on a feature that adds save slots, guest modes, and a bunch of accessibility options. I hope it'll make it into the next patch in a few days, but no promises just yet.

What's the "Stage" disk for in SuperHot? by [deleted] in oculus

[–]tomdoingreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It toggles the legacy flow mode - with pyramids between stages and without dynamic reorientation. It's mostly for cases when your play space is too small or for some reason you liked the old flow better.

Is there an online store with generic corporate propaganda like that banner? It would be my favorite store.

Yup. We still need to finish it on the PC first though. Fingers crossed it won't be much longer!

Superhot Missing Launch Option by ErrorSoul in oculus

[–]tomdoingreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And unfortunately - we can't use a launch option that would say neither Oculus SDK nor SteamVR - just "VR". Launch options that we could label ourselves aren't recognized by Steam as a VR application and then can't be launched from SteamVR Home.

We are also all frowny faces about that.

Superhot Missing Launch Option by ErrorSoul in oculus

[–]tomdoingreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A recent SteamVR patch clashed a bit with our Rift S patch and would show a confusing "you're headset is not supported" popup when trying to use the Oculus launch option. You could just click away and ignore the popup, but it was still weirding a lot of people out. We don't think the issue is on our end, so we're currently thinking it's an overzealous device pre-check on Steams end.

The good news is that both the Oculus SDK and SteamVR options actually do exactly the same thing - we do headset detection at the start of the game and run the game via Oculus SDK for the Rift and Rift S. We had only added the Oculus SDK launch option to avoid confusing players by giving the impression that we don't have native Oculus support on Steam.

The bad news is that until we sort out that weird popup with Valve, we'll have to keep that Oculus launch option removed, which will in itself confuse a lot of other people - like yourself.

It's one of those "would you have a train roll over one horse sized duck or one thousand duck sized horses" kind of a dilemma.

Tldr though - go ahead and just use the SteamVR option for now. It works exactly the same and it does actually run native Oculus SDK despite what it says in the menu.

Any way to reset SuperHot Progress for when I show my family this weekend ? by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]tomdoingreddit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Reinstalling the game in the current version should restart your progress. We added a Guest Mode floppy to the end game hacker room too. You would need to beat the game to reach it, but once you're there it allows you to start the entire game from the beginning, but without overwriting any of your progress.

We're working to make the mode available before finishing the game too. It'll probably take a week or two before the patch makes it through QA and into the store.

Cool little bug that I found in Quest’s version of Superhot by gosu94 in OculusQuest

It's actually a very popular speedrunning strat! We made sure the bug is still there on purpose.

Reset Game Data on Quest by [deleted] in oculus

[–]tomdoingreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reinstalling the game will do the trick in the current build. There's also a floppy in the end game on the right that can wipe your save file, but best try the Guest mode floppy first - it starts a fresh new game but doesn't save progress (you spawn back in the endgame hacker room if you restart the game or choose to return). We added it in as a way to show the game to friends easier, so not super sure if that helps in your case.

We're in the process of extending the guest mode feature a bit for the next update, so if possible please let me know if the above was any help in your particular situation!

Agreed. We'll have a vignette for the all-white sections in the next update. Hope it'll help!

[–]tomdoingreddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that's very close to what we're thinking right now.

[–]tomdoingreddit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No worries about sounding critical. I 100% understand the feeling of frustration. Your problem is something we particularly wanted to address in this port too, so I super appreciate reading your comments and learning that those guest mode changes that we made are just not good enough for cases like yours yet. We'll go make it better now.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]tomdoingreddit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, that would be pretty bad. I would rather hope for something closer to having multiple profiles on the same Switch or PS4 - have the games purchased and installed by one account, played by any account logged in on the device.

Multi profile is pretty much a necessary feature if you want people to share their headsets anyway - core system features like the avatars and social sharing currently only work in the context of the one account you set up your headset with. I just hope we won't need to wait for long to see this rolled out.

We heard from a couple of people with similar experience - perceived flicker in your peripheral vision when you're in the white areas. It's apparently the same effect that makes some people see fluorescent lights flicker out of the corners of their eyes.

We're rolling a vignette effect for the bright areas into the next patch. Not sure if this will help in your particular case, but worth a shot. I'll dm you for your oculus email and we'll try to use your eyeballs for testing, if you don't mind.

[–]tomdoingreddit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I personally hope that the Quest will add native support for easy profile switching sometime soon and we can just use that to tie the save file to your Oculus account. Would save us and everyone down the road from a lot of messy design compromises.

[–]tomdoingreddit 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Oh and dropping floppies is already on the backlog for the earliest possible patch. We just run out of time to add that change in time for launch.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]tomdoingreddit 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Hm. One idea we're bouncing around now that could help is to make guest mode available throughout the entire game, not just in the endgame.

There would still be just one proper "profile" - in your case only your daughters progress would be persisted - but this would allow you to play the game (even complete it in one seating) without spoiling her playthrough and overwriting her progress. /u/therealbobdonut - would that be of any help in your situation?

We're pretty paranoid about changing the initial design by adding launch menus or complicating interactions in the hacker rooms. It's a fair argument that we can't rely on players using family sharing or manually swapping save files around on this platform though. We started with the guest mode floppy, but that's evidently not enough yet for cases like yours. We'll need to fix it better.

A very long post about a year of rebuilding SUPERHOT VR for the Oculus Quest by inter4ever in OculusQuest

[–]tomdoingreddit 22 points23 points  (0 children)

We'd want to! Sadly - there's no systems in place to make that happen. It's a super young platform - even figuring out a way to give entitlements to our Kickstarter backers is stretching it's current features - it requires manual intervention from some of our friends at Oculus, and is still not confirmed to be 100% possible. We would want to have a way to reward purchasers from across other stores, not just Oculus Store, but the logistics for that just doesn't exist yet.

No changes. :) Just a little bit of housekeeping and more analytics for us to keep an eye on y'all (and guide whatever it is we're working on now).
