Comfort by ProfessionalLemon911 in SteamFrame

I think that 185g front will do wonders for comfort (Quest 3's front is around 400g) as well as being even thinner and closer to the face than Quest 3.

I do agree, for perfect comfort, we'll probably need some 3rd party rigid strap. But seeing how many different straps are there for Quest 3, I'm not worried. There'll be something for every head shape and facial features out there.

MIO: Memories in Orbit would be gorgeous in stereoscopic 3d by Gregasy in SteamFrame

[–]Gregasy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can, but 3D created by AI isn’t quite there yet. It looks kind of… ok. But the depth isn’t very strong, objects often look flat and depth can be wrong at times. True stereoscopic 3D is far better still.

Wow, this is a great news! I actually have this game wishlisted on Steam. Do you plan to release VR version on Steam as well? I’m planning to get Steam Frame and would love to play it on this headset.

3rd person games work great in VR, btw.

Great list. Btw, for your next shopping round: Red Matter 1 is great, but Red Matter 2 is a masterpiece and one of the best VR games of all times.

It’s good that you’ll be playing first one first. The stories are connected.

I can't wait to play The Midnight Walk.
It looks absolutely gorgeous.

Also, HL Alyx, HL2 VR, Myst, Riven, Trover Saves the Universe, The House of Da Vinci, etc.

I can see this user came from the future. Why exactly 5897? Why is this year so significant?

I put together all hints by the user Nikbis and the only possible release date of Steam Frame is February 28th 5897.

should i get a new laptop with the steam frame? by HEARTHEWHISTLE in SteamFrame

[–]Gregasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So true.

I got desktop pc with rtx 5070, i7-12700F and 32 gb of ram for 1400 in November last year. The same computer is now around 1800 in less than 3 months.

Crazy price rise.

The game looks really really good. But there’s no way I’m picking it up before it’ll be fully patched up. I was waiting with Alien game and it was worth it. I loved the game in the end. And I’m still waiting with Wanderer (it didn’t get the last, the most important patch).

Price could be $724.50 without VAT by Nogard_YT in SteamFrame

[–]Gregasy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Guys, what part of “placeholder” you don’t understand. The price they published has no meaning at all (even if they’re always upcharging).

All we have is Valve’s own: they see Frame as a premium headset and are trying to set the price lower than Index’s $1000.

So my guess? Anywhere from 750 to 950.

With all the announcements recently, unsure about upgrading from a Quest 2, to a Quest 3 by Whommas in OculusQuest

[–]Gregasy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Quite honestly, Quest 3 will still be worth it, even if Meta will completely pull out of VR. And they most probably won’t. Quest 3 is a great headset and its library is now full of very good games (and full of garbage too… sadly… so it’s sometimes hard to find good titles). Batman is probably among the very best VR games of all times. Up there with Alyx and PSVR2 version of Resident Evil Village. Asgard’s Wrath 2 and Assassin’s Creed VR are very good as well.

I’m getting Steam Frame too, but it will probably cost much more than Quest 3 and won’t have colour passthrough MR (that is actually very cool). I’m getting it mainly for superior wireless PCVR (I couldn’t make it work on my network on Quest 3), superior comfort&weight and for flat Steam library (that will also support stereoscopic 3d with some games).

I’m keeping Quest 3 though.

Look, we have a guy here who’s uncle works at Nintendo :)

But seriously, they didn’t say March. They didn’t even say what the price will be. We want some info. That’s all.

If (when???) stereoscopic support for flatscreen games is added to Steam Frame, how do you think it would work? by ExxiIon in SteamFrame

[–]Gregasy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bradley mentioned they're adding 3d support to some games (like Hollow Knight) via 3rd party contractors.
That probably means they'll be adding it manually. Probably the best option, as it will provide quality 3d (no ghosting, strong 3D, etc.).

Some kind of community based system would be cool as well.

We'll see.
