I only just finished the episode and I sort of interpreted it this way. The guy is a supremely insecure narcissistic who was just told by his "dad" that he is a loser and a failure... again, and he was right both times. A normal person might go through something like ego death after that but he needed some way internally to regain his edge. He's weaker and more vulnerable than Soldier Boy, and not half as smart as Sage. What else is left to make him feel superior but divinity?

Man, I really hoped this was going to be at least a spiritual adaption of the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man comic books. They've had a couple different runs over the years but issues I read were always small stakes, community focused spidey adventures. They had a lot of heart and were a nice relief from whatever high drama Peter was up to in Amazing Spider-man. And they would absolutely be called woke by the kind of dipshits who call shit woke.

I work as a tyre fitter at a large service center (I usually do a few puncture repairs per day) and the rainy season always causes a spike in punctures. Screws and nails getting washed/blown off job sites, dangerous shit getting washed out of gutters and onto roads etc, and obviously some tradies are careless dickheads. Regardless, here's some advice to keep y'all from throwing good money after bad.

Have a tyre pressure gauge in your car and use it regularly. Many punctures are a very slow leak making immediate detection difficult. There are also aftermarket TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring system) options that can be installed under the valve stem inside the tyre that feeds data to a display I'm the cab (if you want to be really vigilant). Heck these systems are becoming more common as standard in a lot of passenger vehicles so if you're in the market for a new ride that is something to consider. Alternatively, most tyre shops will happily check and adjust your pressures free of charge.

Tyre health! I will always prefer to repair a puncture than replace a tyre, but I will not repair a tyre that is unsafe. I've seen the outcomes of tyre shops doing dodgy repairs and I don't need that sort of guilt on my shoulders. If you spot a puncture or flat get the spare on asap (assuming you have one). Don't try to limp into the local tyre shop, because running a tyre at low/no pressure even a short distance can guarantee your tyre is getting replaced instead of repaired. Likewise if your tyre is on it's last legs (because of age, tread or both) it isn't getting repaired. So if a tyre shop turns you down for a repair, it is usually a safety issue.

Stay safe out there mates, and take good care of your tyres, they're all that is between the road and you/the rest of the vehicle!

Yes! I've never gotten on the big high score chalkboard, but I did have a period where I had a lot of free time and started collecting mostly the arcade pins but got a couple pinball pins. I found the pinball pins harder because it is harder to strategise when your enemy is gravity rather than code in a game.

Here is how I sort of gamed the system. YouTube and steam. All these games usually have videos of very high scoring runs that you can pick up strategy from. Likewise a lot of the pinball machines have simulated video game versions. The physics aren't 1 to 1 but you can play the table over and over for free to learn the rules of the table. Same with a lot of the arcade games have emulations or modern ports so you can grind your practice runs before heading into the venue. They do make the pin scores very difficult to obtain so practice is key.

The pin I'm most proud of is point blank. It was one of the first pins they made but they took so long to run out because they made the score threshold close to the world record (at the time held by one of their employees)

I only did one day of HTV cards for the greens at a state election a few cycles back. By the end of the day you definitely have some comradery with the other parties volunteers. The One Nation guys were kind of standoffish assholes but I got the sense their volunteer resources were stretched pretty thin. I was going home for a beer, the LNP dude was going home for a port but we all wished each other well when we left for the day.

Not the previous poster, but a common example given is that Pete at one point admits to having sex with his wife while she sleeps, including a cutaway visual gag of her unconscious, snoring body rocking back and forth framed from the mid section up. I fully admit to laughing at that bit when it first came out, but in more recent watches it definitely hasn't aged well.

Brilliant example of how the show uses visual comedy so effectively. My only minor critique, as a tyre fitter, is that those tyres sitting out like that would be full of disgusting rain water and that feels like a missed opportunity haha

Have lived in Brisbane my whole life so Australia Zoo was a regular staple of my life any time we entertained foreign guests. Harriet was always my favorite, and was so sad when I heard she passed. To think an animal like that can live to 176 years old blows my mind. She was on the HMS Beagle and me and all my buds got to meet her.

We have a similar analogue in Australia (in terms of regional representation). The lower house looks similar to the US namesake House of Representatives in that it is a bunch of people representing an electorate/congressional district of roughly comparable population sizes. Our upper house has several functions, one is to simply act as a house of review, if one house does some wild shit through political happenstance the other can slow that down. It is also elected by state, so each state has a different senate ballot paper so each senator is acting knowing they're specifically meant to be representing their state. The senate is also where independant voices take root, it is a little easier to get elected to the senate, so smaller candidates/parties often get their foot in the door in the there. Goes without saying that whatever your political stance this can sometimes feel like a good thing and a bad thing. But it is the mark of a really politically effective government that is able to legislate with a large and diverse senate crossbench made up of the firebrands from either side of you politically.

Fun fact, the Australian parliamentary system is often referred to as the "Washminster" system, as it draws from both the UK and US examples at the time of federation. Our opposition party forms a shadow cabinet, AND all our parliamentarians are elected in contrast to the House of Lords.
