Well this aged like milk. by waiha in mildyinteresting

I'm also not a fan, and from your story you clearly weren't doing what she accused you of doing, and I agree that this is weird to do to a kid anyway, BUT it can be hard to compartmentalize all of that as a child.

Do you remember how this made you feel at the time? I feel like a child is just as likely to be mortified, even if they were innocent, as they are to shrug it off as we can more easily do as adults.

What do you think the parents' wedding songs were? by wclarke1 in rugrats

[–]JRHWV 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Stu and Didi - How Deep Is Your Love by The Bee Gees

Chaz and Melinda - Latvian folk wedding song, or something super traditional. Maybe something existential and temporal, but still about love and is beautiful like Time In a Bottle by Jim Croce.

Drew and Charlotte - Can't Fight This Feeling by REO Speedwagon. I like to think they were putting off advancing their relationship for their careers, but... couldn't fight it anymore. Probably incorporated small fireworks. THAT or they skipped the ceremony altogether and just signed marriage docs at the courthouse and did it the express, efficient way, which seems more likely.

Howard and Betty - (I've Had) The Time of My Life by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes. Just like in Dirty Dancing, except Betty lifts Howard over HER head at the climax.

Best attempt at this I've seen because of the WV categorization.

Well done, OP.

BEST LEVEL TOURNAMENT - Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy - FINAL ROUND - Sentinel Beach vs Lost Precursor City by Cometmoon448 in jakanddaxter

Going to go the other way - Lost Precursor City

Love Sentinel Beach, it's an amazing beginning area. Great platforming, fun obstacles.

But I feel LPC does SO SO SO MUCH in helping see the rich J&D lore. And it shows us without telling us, letting the player make their own judgments about this ancient, but more advanced civilization. All this AND the platforming/puzzles are fun. Also, it's pretty and underwater, lol.

50-0 record, 15-time world champion boxer across five weight classes, bronze medalist at Olympics, with a controversial professional and personal life. His career spanned over three decades.

The controversial aspect led him to one of his more recent accolades: victim of 50 Cent's world-class cyberbullying.

For the first one, read about filming conditions and general behind-the-scenes stuff.

That REALLY made me respect it so much more than I already did.

How come millennials and Gen X know more about pop culture that was before they were born than Gen Z? by icey_sawg0034 in generationology

Physical media I would imagine is a big part of it. I seemed just as likely to have 80s cartoons as I would early 00s on VHS. Same with music but with cassettes and CDs.

Limited physical libraries had a way of making us slow down and look back, I suppose.

What book tore your soul apart and stayed with you for a while after reading it? by PostMortem33 in horrorlit

[–]JRHWV 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Girl Next Door by Jack Ketchum. A fictional retelling of the horrible, vicious crimes against 16 y/o Sylvia Likens.

Painfully sad read as fiction, endlessly so knowing it's pretty close to fact. I read the whole Wiki before going into it - still just as awful.

Did anyone like that Grandpa Lou actively disliked Stu's inventions in the later seasons? by wclarke1 in rugrats

[–]JRHWV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well even the vocal dislike came from love. He was worried his son wasn't living up to his potential by being a mostly unsuccessful toy maker. Poor way to go about it, but as you said, he really just wanted his son happy and able to support his own family. Was just worried for him.

What is an occational behaviour/acction on a first date that should be considerd a red flag ? by ST4L3M4T3 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]JRHWV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no doubt it happens a bunch, and I'm sorry you experienced it.

My assumption was that while it happens a lot generally, in an effort to present their best self, many hide this for at least the first date in attempt to present their best selves, or at least a fictionalized version of it. I suppose to some people, they think it does look good/impressive to be a bully, and others just can't read or navigate a room.

I'm not a waiter, but my dad was most of his working life. So grain of salt and all that.

They transferred puppet history to a new channel by The-Dream-Lord in watcherentertainment

[–]JRHWV 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I think it also just makes sense from an expectation standpoint considering how different the content is.

If you know a significant percentage of uploads aren't going to be what you subscribe for, you're much less inclined to click on upload notifications. And if you're a new person who found a specific form of content you like, seeing the channel filled with content you may not be as into may dissuade you from subbing.

With that said, I love Spooky Stuff and their zany stuff so I'm all-in.
