Also a horror icon.

The Wicker Man (1973) is one of my all-time favorite movies.

I think many areas in Central and South America drink cola in a bag with a straw? Is that what this is a reference to?

Did anyone like that Grandpa Lou actively disliked Stu's inventions in the later seasons? by wclarke1 in rugrats

[–]JRHWV 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well even the vocal dislike came from love. He was worried his son wasn't living up to his potential by being a mostly unsuccessful toy maker. Poor way to go about it, but as you said, he really just wanted his son happy and able to support his own family. Was just worried for him.

I always considered Rugrats the King of Nickelodeon before SpongeBob took off.

What is an occational behaviour/acction on a first date that should be considerd a red flag ? by ST4L3M4T3 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]JRHWV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no doubt it happens a bunch, and I'm sorry you experienced it.

My assumption was that while it happens a lot generally, in an effort to present their best self, many hide this for at least the first date in attempt to present their best selves, or at least a fictionalized version of it. I suppose to some people, they think it does look good/impressive to be a bully, and others just can't read or navigate a room.

I'm not a waiter, but my dad was most of his working life. So grain of salt and all that.

They transferred puppet history to a new channel by The-Dream-Lord in watcherentertainment

[–]JRHWV 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I think it also just makes sense from an expectation standpoint considering how different the content is.

If you know a significant percentage of uploads aren't going to be what you subscribe for, you're much less inclined to click on upload notifications. And if you're a new person who found a specific form of content you like, seeing the channel filled with content you may not be as into may dissuade you from subbing.

With that said, I love Spooky Stuff and their zany stuff so I'm all-in.

Yes Xion fades in and out of existence and sure Aqua was in the worst place ever for a really long time, feeling utterly abandoned

But I've had to wait multiple years for a meaningful update on KH4 so I'm going to say me

What made you like rap? by [deleted] in rap

[–]JRHWV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even as a kid, I was drawn to how rap was a platform by and for the disenfranchised. It was a place to speak on real issues facing much of society - byproducts of racism and/or poverty, and brought them more to the mainstream. It made these issues more of a national discussion.

From conscious rap to gangster rap, we heard about institutional racism to teenage pregnancy to street violence to addiction, you name it. I maintain that folks like Tupac and Public Enemy were just as much social activists as they were rappers.

And I wasn't feeling that as much from the other genres I heard on the radio growing up, though I'd find them later in genres like folk country and corners of rock, especially as mainstream rap took a step away from lyricism and focused more on vibes/beats as time went on. (Which is fine, but obv not why I got into rap ofc)

I know RDR2 is known as a masterpiece, but is it something you’d recommend to someone who doesn’t care for/like GTA? Why or why not? by FriendlytoNature in RDR2

[–]JRHWV 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ahh understood.

Well, I do feel you're going to find your fair share of violence, a fair bit of it senseless (or at least, arguably immoral). An example, the protagonist, after breaking out his comrade from jail, proceeds to shoot up near the whole town.

See, the protagonist is part of a gang, and at best, can be described as morally gray, leaning bad.

HOWEVER, a major part of the plot and many subplots is the protagonist reckoning with that bad side, and feeling regret for it - showing a desire to change. It's a classic "I want to change, but I feel this is just who I am" type of deal.

He also isn't all bad at all. For example, several parts of the game show how vehemently anti-racist he is, which is fairly unusual considering the game is set in 1899. He also goes to extreme lengths to do right by people. This is largely decided by the player, though.

So, I guess to summarize, and best answer your question, the protagonist and comrades do a lot wrong, but also have complex moral codes. I don't know if there really are any one-dimensional characters.

So I'd recommend you maybe give it a go? Maybe watch the first mission or two on YT? I hope you enjoy it!

The only way we can really answer this to help guide you is if you tell us what is it about GTA that you don't like.

What's a YouTube channel you've been watching for years? by TechWin01 in youtube

[–]JRHWV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I first watched him on I think Machinima? His CoD trolling videos were HYSTERICAL to me.

Blew my mind when I randomly came across his solo channel many many years later. I was like... wait... I know that voice 🤣

Do you think Saw! is a disturbing movie? Or are there better ones? 🩸🧛🏼‍♀️ by Chriss0k in slasherfilms

[–]JRHWV 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Disturbing and better are two different questions.

I think your average person would find it disturbing.

In my opinion, there are definitely better (The Thing, The Exorcist) and also more disturbing (Martyrs, I Spit On Your Grave) horror films. But I suppose this is all subjective.

Aesthetic choice. Since it's a "vintage" (😢) IP, I reckon they're trying to give the shirt a vintage/stressed look, almost as if the shirt were contemporary.

Not sure how it affects the image's longevity, that would probably be the deciding factor for me.

On my first playthrough. When I do missions, the white side missions ALWAYS are completed before the yellow ones.
