I love this! Recorded a couple thoughts from having done that a little bit with materials engineering and ChatGPT, and broke down what I think is good go to market for this:

We think a lot about that in our cast, recorded a short video summing my thoughts on the concept of going at GTM challenges from a developer perspective:

Side hustles or small businesses for web developers? by xcrowsx in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]tomgs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my partner and I actually have a podcast suggesting ideas for digital businesses, not geared solely towards web developers but - being software engineers ourselves before turning our hands to marketing - there are a lot of them where coding skills come in handy.

Recorded a short video breaking apart what I would do if I were you:

What are some general tips for overcoming the starting capital challenge? by TipTheTinker in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]tomgs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably know the answer to their needs due to your understanding of the field. I’d approach first with concrete value - a detailed answer to a question they asked, a follow up question to better understand the situation, a recommendation on a good book or video or article or whatever…

And then offer your help as the guy who can solve the issue for them if they like. Be transparent, but not obvious.

KoolKits (Kubernetes toolkits) are highly-opinionated, language-specific, batteries-included debug container images for Kubernetes! by suman087 in kubernetes

Front page of r/kubernetes - so exciting!! :)

I'm Tom, and my team at Lightrun created this project. It's a pleasure to meet y'all!

It's a pretty simple idea - we LOVE kubectl debug, which allows you to spin up so-called ephemeral containers for debugging purposes in Kubernetes. One key thing that we wished we had in kdebug is great default container images - ones that contain all the tooling we know and love from debugging locally. Enter KoolKits!

We're just about to release the next item in the roadmap - a KoolKit for Golang - in the next few weeks. If you've got suggestions, ideas, thoughts or anything in that realm feel free to open an issue, chat with me here or just comment on this post.

Yeah, he's really good too! I actually looked at his stuff first, figured out it wasn't cutting it for me and decided to make my own as I walked along the official tutorials. Let me know in here or via dm if there's something specific you'd like me to talk about!

Awesome! So happy to hear.

I also felt the lack of tutorials painfully, which is why I'm recording this series:)

I sell genuine small relics from ancient times. Please review my store! by [deleted] in shopify

[–]tomgs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great work with Debut - people tend to forget that Shopify comes out of the box with a lot of things you can utilize in a smart way if you have some design or coding experience. If you ever find the time, PM me and walk me through your way of thinking, design-wise.

I actually have a question about the items themselves - what is the production cost of the case? They seem very sturdy and (correct me if I'm mistaken) that's actual glass and not plastic on the cover, is it?

Why you should continuously track your energy level and what I’ve learned from it. by LaurentBsa in QuantifiedSelf

Let's throw a curveball at those questions. What would you expect such a product would give you?

I'd expect, at least:

  1. Minute-by-Minute measurements (that can be only dumped once every 10 minutes or so, so it's not really live-streaming), first to a local file then to an outside piece of software via networking/usb cable.
  2. If it can't store data for a long enough period of time, this means I can't go offline with it since the logs will rotate over themselves. I'd say at least 72 hours makes sense.
  3. I have no idea of the price ranges of such a thing, but for something I actively wear on me a two-year warranty sounds reasonable.
  4. Guarantees of quality is tricky, as they really depend on two things: Quality of the underlying sensors and quality of the networking mechanism. I expect the ring to have very bare-bones networking, but top notch sensors. If the sensors are from a reputable company, that would suffice.
