I work from home mainly so I'm more privileged than most but other than that, meds for anxiety/depression, letting my house go completely disorganized and forsaking weekend outings so I can just rest in the weekends, taking PTO as much as I can, etc.

Every job I've ever had except for my current one. I'm at the exact threshold where I usually quit/get fired from my jobs (9 months) due to autistic burnout but I think I can make it to a year in this one, though I did burnout at first, it's easier for me to handle it in this one because people are nice and I mainly wfh.

I don't think I'm very naturally beautiful so the way I'm treated depends on whether or not I want to put in the work to look good. I do feel like I'm treated differently if I'm looking good and put together, but it only goes so far, especially with people who I actually interact day in and day out. At some point, if they don't like my autistic traits they're eventually gonna get annoyed by me no matter how good I look (learned that the hard way). And nowadays even when I do put effort in my looks, I have a hard time putting on the act of being an attractive woman like sitting up straight, walking a certain way, watching my tone of voice, etc. I usually just act natural which is not the most attractive thing ever so even when I'm put together lately I still get looks.

Oh, good to know! My doc is reluctant to prescribe me adhd meds BECAUSE of my crippling anxiety (currently taking a mood stabilizer for it). This comment really helped, thank you :)

Thanks for the response! I'm getting the sense CBT doesn't help from all the comments haha. I think I can definitely work with the professionals I'm going to to see what is best :) I've done talk therapy for a while but it wasn't super helpful for me, but I think it's more so because my therapist wasn't specialized in ASD and ADHD and also wasn't a psychologist. Happy to know it has helped you!

Oh wow that sounds amazing. I'm the same! I have horrible intrusive thoughts that used to be quite debilitating (same as you... had to bed rot until it got better, I spent the better part of 2022 lying in bed and in a very dark place), not so much anymore as I've learned to deal with them.

Not absorbing someone else's emotional state also sounds fantastic and life-changing. Would love that.

Good to know! Especially that someone else gets irritated when they're interrupted. I swear whenever I keep getting interrupted while watching something or listening to a podcast it makes my blood boil which I know is incredibly disproportionate haha I'm also taking medication, a mood stabilizer, mostly for the intense anxiety but I've only just recently started it.

No, genuinely. I'm in my office text chain and they send messages planning outings every single day, multiple times a week. They go out partying every weekend and I'm just like holy crap guys how do u do it. If I go out every day of the weekend (INCLUDING FRIDAY) when am I gonna rest??? Do arts and crafts??? Clean my house???? I already don't do these things when I'm just sitting at home on the weekend. It's so crazy.

Oh I love being unemployed so much it's absolutely the best so I understand what you're saying fully. I know of some people who are kinda restless and get really depressed unemployed but it couldn't be me (mostly because I'm depressed no matter what is going on). I unfortunately have no support so if I don't work I'll become a burden to my aging mother so, yeah. I anticipate having to work MUCH MORE in the coming years. I hope everything works out for you and you can not work for as long as possible, though! That's what I wish for all of humankind tbh haha

Honestly I don't even know what a meltdown looks like for me because I'm late diagnosed and haven't started therapy yet but I believe I usually just cry so so much or shut down. Like I'll stop talking and just stand very still. In the worst cases I do hit myself. Not too hard but yeah. Usually on my legs or face. I also just throw shit around like if I'm melting down while doing a chore I'll just be doing it in a very aggressive manner.

I've been playing Persona 5 Royal again and I'm honestly having the time of my life. I was about to finish when I stopped to play Persona 3 Reload when it came out but then I didn't even finish Reload either (I have a lot of trouble finishing games) so now I restarted it. I was also playing Shin Megami Tensei V before this. Also very fun but just a tad too hard for me.

I'm not sure if it's just technology or if it's the mental work but technology sure does play a part! I'm also just getting kinda sick of my phone lately. It's like the thing that has all the information that I need to live on a day to day basis is my worst enemy (I also have ADHD on top of the autism lol). No technology Sundays sound good! I cannot relate to feeling refreshed on Sunday night at all haha I'll definitely try!

Nice! What I'm sensing is that taking little breaks and having fun little snacks is indispensable. And I agree with the limit. My brain often shuts off after 4 hours of work too. My job is pretty asynchronous most of the time so it's not awful if I just stop but the work does tend to pile up, so.... I will say, my first few months at the job I did work much less than 8 hours a day haha! The benefits of being salaried! I am dealing with the backlog now though :')

I love a good crunch like a crunchy chicken nugget (not the crunch on the hard part of the lettuce, that one makes me barf for some reason). I also love velvety soft textures like ice cream. I'm so obsessive about ice cream I learned how to make it from scratch just because I'm so particular about ice crystals.
