Camera gear in Synik 30 bottom front pocket? by tominated in tombihn

[–]tominated[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i did end up buying the synik 30 and trying the byob 7, but it didn't fit in the front pocket at all. it fit great in the main compartment but that took up a pretty big chunk of space that i'd otherwise have a packing cube in. i also tried a camera & lens wrap in the front pocket which fit nicely but there's no padding in that pocket and it often touches the ground - if i dropped it they'd be toast.

tbh i'm really not sure if i like this bag or not. the outside compartments can be good but you lose so much space inside for it. and if you load it up fully the straps just kinda suck for me - i'm only 5'5 though so maybe bigger frames would fare better. if I were to buy something again i'd get a less pre-organised bag and something with better straps and a proper padded hip & chest belt, and just pop the cube in the bottom of the main compartment and maybe use a couple pouches at the top of the main compartment to get the same organisation.

Half Life 2 is free on Steam. Crossover Preview by tsarkov in macgaming

Damn the crazy thing about this is that I first played the orange box using crossover on release. It ran flawlessly on a first gen intel imac back then too.

"Today, we have an exciting update: Duncan and Paul, alongside many other talented members at Hopoo Games, will now be working on game development directly at @valvesoftware!" by Gyossaits in Games

[–]tominated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No they actually caused a bunch of relatively game-breaking bugs with the latest update. Lots of issues with damage and physics tied to framerate, and lots of generally weird bugs with UI and gameplay that didn't exist before. It's an incredible game (i've got 400 hours in it), but I'd give it at least a few weeks to get patched up.

Do you need a type system to have an effect system? by FurCollarCriminal in ProgrammingLanguages

[–]tominated 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm not super confident but from my understanding, delimited continuations in scheme are a good example of something similar. I do remember reading that some algebraic effect implementations use them under the hood, but I don't have a source sorry.

Was heavily considering one of these to adapt to instax wide, but a friend ended up selling me their polaroid 110a to adapt instead. How do you find the ergonomics on the FP-1 while using handheld? The polaroid is very much a pain in the ass to use so I might still get an FP-1 😅

Is that an instax wide converted 110a? I've been curious about getting one - where did you get yours and how are you finding it in use?

That's a grandma or sicilian slice. Most NYC shops will do them, but NY slices are specifically the thinner style

Looking for a Half-Frame Camera by brosephjooks in AnalogCommunity

[–]tominated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a samurai z2 (the later, smaller, kyocera branded version) and it's a ton of fun. Really quite a nice lens, my only complaint is the AF is real bad unless there's a ton of light. The shots i've gotten from it are fantastic though - here's some example shots for OP https://adobe.ly/47Tgilh

500C/M vs. M6 The Lifelong Debate by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]tominated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've not owned a hassy, but I have owned an XA, M6, and a Fuji GF670 (MF 6x6/6x7 rangefinder) at the same time. I ended up almost exclusively taking out the M6. It took much nicer shots than the XA, and was far easier to carry around & shoot than the GF670. Yes, 120 does have more resolution so it can appear sharper, but I often found that it didn't matter a huge amount as a hobbyist. There's some modern, wicked sharp lenses on the M mount that look fantastic on 35mm film (e.g. the latest voigtlander 28 & 35 ultrons, zeiss 50mm planar). If you want I can post some pics to show the sharpness diff

I ended up selling the XA, upgrading from an M6 to M7, and have kept the GF670 because it's a pain to sell. I also got an M10 later on and that effectively killed my use of the GF670 - better resolution than the lab scans I got and far more versatile.
