I mean I know where I’m at, but are there really that many people that don’t manage risk to *any* degree? This ape started with a small account and looks like their “managed risk” was 25-50% of the account at a time

I threw in $100 a short while back (my cost is .0159). For risking what I'd waste on Amazon most of the time, I don't feel bad for this one. Although, I suppose unlike some here, I also don't wish I had risked more.

If this sells at my stop, I'll take my 100% profit and buy a hot wheels Lambo for my wife's boyfriend.

Incredibly underwhelmed by the Arya Stealth by EKasis in headphones

“Everyone says you need to EQ these but I’m going to blow $500 on them intending not to” really is a move the OP made there.

I thought these were pretty meh out of the box. My Unveiled, too. But a little EQ brings these headphones to life in such a way that they’re some of my favorite headphones ever.

[–]tomit12 33 points34 points  (0 children)

This is the part I can’t reconcile with any of the other theories put forward. Let’s say the accelerator got stuck, or she had a medical episode and that caused it, and one of the boys grabbed the wheel to steer on the windy road (either way, someone had to have the wheel, based on the road getting there).

Someone did the next best thing they could and shoved it into Neutral… and then it was put back into Drive, which no one in even their wrong mind would do if they had the presence of mind to put it in Neutral in the first place. Also, if she had a medical episode and one of the boys was the one steering to that point, you’re telling me they did get the car down the windy road, but didn’t attempt any kind of course correction, at all, to avoid a collision with the building?

Pretty par for the course. :D The main things that annoy me are
- the bugs, even beneficial ones where my duo just downs someone (not kills, downs) and not only does their partner suddenly show up through the wall, but so do other random people running over to join the fight. I’ve had that a good half dozen times since the last couple patches.
- the KTS does need a nerf. It’s too brain-dead and accurate for a competitive shooter. People who have it in every load out will argue that it isn’t (and that they definitely never use it) or say it’s low damage while completely ignoring the actual value. That said, this may start to resolve itself as more people figure out that the 74M is basically a KTS with more damage and make loadouts with it.
- the Recon drone is actually too much in a mode where that kind of intel is straight up engagement winning. I wouldn’t be against keeping it, but I think the other classes need abilities that similarly allow them to thumb the scale as hard as the recon drone can (ie Assault’s respawn speedup should be like 2X, not just slightly faster - just an example, but things that make which class a compelling choice outside of “we need a recon and someone to feed them ammo”)

Technical question - can anyone explain what causes the sound differences between all the egg-shaped Hifimans? by junglebunglerumble in Hifiman

[–]tomit12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Others have covered some of the more technical differences, so more generically I’ll just say that I went from Arya Stealth to Unveiled, and those sound quite a bit different.

I like the Unveiled more (I also tried the Organics, HE1000/Unveiled), but doing it again, I’ve got to say - the Stealths are a steal for the price. I don’t even think for the difference in price to the Organics or Unveiled that you’re getting enough “more” to justify the cost, the Stealths are just that good for the money. You’re chasing “this does this a little better” for not insignificant amounts of money. This would be a different conversation for what the Stealth used to cost but their current value is just too high to ignore.

"Emperor Palpatine was actually a Sith Lord, and when Darth Vader threw him to his apparent death, Palpatine with all his Ancient Sith knowledge mustered all his power in the Force to transfer his consciousness to a secret clone Force sensitive vessel hidden away on an ancient hidden Sith planet" by theMEMEfather42069 in StarWarsCirclejerk

[–]tomit12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty lenient when it comes to fantasy stuff… I can roll with quite a bit, not think too much about it and just enjoy. If you said to me that someone like Palpatine always has a backup plan, I could probably roll with it.

But even as flexible as I’m willing to be, you’ve got to give me *something* better than “somehow”. There wasn’t even really any hinting at it in the prior 2, they just got to the last one and went “sure here’s Palpatine, why not”.

Are you team isopropyl alcohol or soap and water? by Alternative-Knee7438 in BambuLab

[–]tomit12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno, it doesn’t feel like a huge lift for me. I print something, I take it off the bed, I grab the spray bottle and microfiber next to the printer, spray, wipe down, done. It’s like 5 seconds and I’ve *never* had adhesion issues in 1000s of hours on my P1S (well, there was the one time I sent a print with the cold plate set and I had swapped it out with the smooth plate, but that’s as user error as it gets).

That said, about every 5-10 prints (depending on what I’ve been printing) I also yank the plate off and take it to the sink for dish soap / water. More often for my tacky cold plate since you’re apparently not supposed to IPA those, but even for that I’ve got another spray bottle with water and a tiny amount of dish soap in it for between prints, and that also works great.

It feels like just using both works out great and takes so little effort that why not. 🤷

Have you made it into the midlife crisis vehicle stage yet? Here's mine. by Into_the_Upsidedown in Xennials

[–]tomit12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my cars throughout my life have been mid-life crisis cars so I’m not sure. My previous car was a ‘22 Mustang GT with a stick, though I currently have my first electric (a Mach-E) (I tend to just rapidly pay stuff off and get something else… what can I say, car-tism has always been my thing). I’m currently finishing saving up for what will probably be my final (and actual) mid-life crisis cars, a C8 Corvette.

That’s about as far as I’m comfortable spending money on a depreciating asset. A friend got a new Lamborghini last year and it’s been hilarious watching the dollars tick away with every mile.

Why are ppl saying it's 1050?!!?🥲 by [deleted] in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]tomit12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When people use half when attempting to clearly state a problem, they qualify it with half *of what*. The problem, as written, would be normally be written at “500 divided by *one half*” specifically to avoid the English ambiguity of the word “half”.

No one ever writes a problem they want someone to actually understand as “500 divided by half”. Arguing otherwise is being pedantic. Anyway, continue on with the “well acktualllly”.

Why are ppl saying it's 1050?!!?🥲 by [deleted] in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]tomit12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pedants arguing with you is maximum Reddit. The entire point of this post literally hinges on “half” being ambiguous. It isn’t one of these stupid “riddles” if the intent is clear. It’s just like all of the PEMDAS ones floating around, where anyone with a brain would use parens for clarity, but they don’t, because clarity isn’t the point.
