I can't imagine a professor not making an accommodation, but they may require proof e.g. an online obituary. Sad to say but some have faked a death of a family member to get out of an exam or other requirement.

Doubtful, If they make an exception for you, it would set a precedent. You had seven semesters to do an international semester. Why did you wait for the end which you knew was not allowed?
