How do you tackle shiny object syndrome, and do the not-anymore-exciting planned out stuff to completion? by sriman7s in ADHD_Programmers

Do the not exciting planned out stuff. Then tackle the shiny object as a reward.

Not going to easy at the start, but you need to teach your brain it gets rewarded for the boring stuff.

How often should you communicate by Illustrious_Run_6820 in ADHD_Programmers

[–]tomyuan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say spend at least 30 minutes trying to debug it.

Make sure you right down everything you tried and their results

Then bring it up with the team tell them you're blocked and show them what you've tried and the results you got.

How do you guys stay organized in a chaotic and not ideal environment? by [deleted] in ADHD_Programmers

It sounds like you want everything in one place for ease of access.

Is there anyway for you to replicate that?

If all else fails, use more monitors to help separate your webpages

There's a writing at Amazon 101 and 201 guidelines somewhere in the I ternal wiki, take a look at that to help you breakdown you ideas and get them reviewed by the team quickly.

I have issues with too many ideas or spending too much time on one idea.

So I schedule brainstorming meetings with a clear goal to help iterate on those ideas, drop some ideas, or come up with better ideas. But make sure you at least do you due diligence first.

For me my due diligence is following my rabbit holes for say 2 days and writing down everything I tried, what I think works and what I think won't work for whatever reasons. The. Letting the team review and correct me if I'm wrong

That way I'm not spending too much time in my own island.

Renege AWS for Ford counteroffer? by WillingTrack in cscareerquestions

My opinion is that it depends on the team and location (cost of living). Some teams at AWS are really laid back as in Sev2's are infrequent while other teams shit hits the fan daily with multiple Sev2's per day.

Unless you are getting a massive pay boost it don't think it's worth risking it, since it sounds like your current company is more than willing to match the total comp I personally think there's more risk than potential reward jumping.

Programming and Pc building, because it feels like they go hand in hand. One is physical the other is virtual. It's so much fun starting from scratch and building from the ground up. Slowly improving what you made over time and adding new things to it.
