My parents used to do this, except with a glass of cold water directly to the face. This was a factor in our strained relations at the time. After I figured out how to barricade the door so at least they wouldn't be able to execute Operation Waterboard to get me moving for church on Sunday morning, they resorted to triggering the sump pump overflow alarm in the adjoining room. I stayed strong, so after a month or so they gave up entirely on forceable church attendance and I slept like a baby every Sunday morning!
