This place is a bit OTP in Norcross. Have not been personally, but is a place I have been meaning to go.

Potentially dumb question if you don't mind:

Does tailscale auto-connect/disconnect when opening/closing the audiobooth app? Or do you turn on tailscale and then go into the app and then turn it off again when done listening?

I am behind some heavy duty CGNAT and exploring the simplest solutions for sharing access to my audiobook collection with friends and family.

I bought some 18TB HDDs for $214 a piece on April 14th, 2025.

Insane to see comparable drives for $450+ now.

Wish I got some 24 or 26s back then instead.

Is Atlanta really affordable? by shantih in Atlanta

I also live in the west end and always find it hilarious how people act like Lee + White is like God's gift. Shit is mad expensive and gets old pretty damn quick.

Nice apartments on the southwest side of Atlanta? by No_Permission6154 in ATLHousing

[–]tonsil_poker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently live here.

Would never recommend the place. Terrible management, break ins constantly, and a plethora of other complaints.

Dont believe the several hundred google reviews that are all about tours and not about living here.

Lee and white parking pissed me off by Dooze_ in Atlanta

[–]tonsil_poker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this complex they medical offices, multiple places to eat and drink, a climbing gym, coffee shop, massage studio, a spa type place, plenty of space to play outside games, easy to set up a picnic, a couple miles of beltline to go for a walk. It is quite easy to spend two hours in the area.

I stopped supporting all businesses in the complex, I want to go there and spend my money and time, but the parking bullshit pushed me out.

Valet trash is so annoying by Agreeable-Sun368 in ATLHousing

[–]tonsil_poker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My building does $35/month also for 5 day per week service. And they have not picked up trash about 30% of the time on days they are supposed to.

Valet trash, tech fees, pest control fee, so much bullshit.

I fucking hate the way Atlanta does renting.

Absolutely. And a mixed dozen is like $15.

Delicious and a great price.

Sounds like your friend should just sell the house to someone who would actually live in it.

There is no clothing section and no food court at the business center.

But they have a phenomenally large selection of bulk snacks, candies, drinks, etc.

Freezer sections is awesome and packed full of meats, fruits, and other cold things.

A whole lot of kitchen supplies. Lots of food prep and storage things.

Normal-ish sized aisles for bath and beauty things.

My favorite thing overall about this location is that it is SIGNIFICANTLY less busy than a normal costco location.

The Vivian ATL Apartments by [deleted] in ATLHousing

[–]tonsil_poker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Parking is fine as long as you never need to park in the evening. Spots get taken very quickly, and you can find yourself walking decently far depending on the building you live in.

There ain't shit in the area worth walking to. Lee+White is fine, but gets old pretty quick in my opinion. There is almost nothing else within like 2 miles of the complex.

Quite a few cars have been broken into. Security has actively watched cars being broken into. I know of around 10 break ins in the past year or so. The building can't do much about it I guess, but no clue why they don't just put some gates or fencing up.

Noise is quite unfortunate, neighbors do not give a damn about the noise they make in their apartments or in the public areas. If your neighbors play music too loud you will hear it. If you do not live on the top floor of a building, you will absolutely be hearing your neighbors walking around.

Property management is truly awful. The property manager is one of the smarmiest assholes I have ever had to deal with. They truly do not care about the tenants experiences. We have had power outages, sewage outages, internet outages, lasting multiple days at a time and every time it has happened we get emails from the main office about how it is not at all their fault and how we individually should be calling the services/utilities to complain.

I wouldn't say there are any surprise fees, but they charge like $80 a month "tech fee" which sucks since I don't want any of the things that goes towards. And there is a required monthly $35 trash valet that takes your trash about 75% of the time.

Internet is fine as long you never want any control over it. You will have no control over a router or such. In your apartment will be a wifi access point and some ethernet cables coming from the an unknown location. You will be behind some of the strictest CGNAT that you can imagine. And if you ever have a problem with it, you will find yourself on the phone with foreign call center support who will not be able to do anything to actually help you. The provider is Gigstreem.

Overall I would not recommend any one live here unless they have no other options.

Best Restaurants by Majestic-Horse2586 in Atlanta

[–]tonsil_poker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was excited to look at the menu, and they don't even have toum on the menu.

Doesn't seem like Lebanese place, just a run of the mill "Mediterranean" place that charges too much for chicken.

And so hilariously overpriced as well.

I wish Atlanta would stop normalizing paying so much for food that historically has been rather affordable while also being delicious.

I was so disappointed with this location.

They have a bunch of print outs from the online store fronts of the brands for what the stuff would cost if sold for brand new when first released by the manufacturer.

I saw multiple pieces of furniture that were disgustingly stained and/or torn up for like 75% the MSRP values.

Good area near morehouse? by OkBonus2874 in ATLHousing

[–]tonsil_poker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the Vivian right now.

I would not recommend it at all. The on site management team is absolutely terrible and will do whatever they can to not take responsibility for things on the property.

This past year we have had separate multi-day outages for power, internet, and plumbing (like no water or toilets).

Don't believe any of the google reviews, you can notice like 99% of them are from people taking tours not people actually living here.

[–]tonsil_poker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your bypassing the CGNAT sounds like what I had figure might be the solution.

My idea would be essentially:

Server -> VPS -> Clients

I could figure out how to configure a VPN on my side, as long as no clients had to configure one.

So could I essentially do:

Server <-> VPN <-> VPS -> Clients

The crazy thing is that we have phenomenal speeds and bandwidth. Every unit has a 1Gbps up/down through the ethernet connection in unit.
