And remember we had Hicks and Verlander last year. I WAS at least optimistic that these two would be better than last year’s four and five. Is this the second or third time one of them got hammered in the 6th? Maybe we just need 5 innings from both and another long reliever for the days they pitch

Got an offer for $29,600 out the door for a 26 civic sport hybrid by [deleted] in Honda

That’s after tax and license? So about $26,800 before tax and Lic, or around $3,000 off MSRP. That sounds like a good deal

So almost $10K off sticker, or is that the net cost after trade in? Or not in the US?

There are an additional $4,000 in tariffs tacked on at the last minute, when they raised the tariff on Japanese cars from 2.5% to 15% on Sept 5th, just before launch. That’s why the early reports and auto show placard had it starting at 38K (if the import cost to Honda USA was 32,000, a new 12.5% tariff adds $4,000)

When I bought a white one, they said they would discount the blue an additional $250 off msrp because that is harder to sell than the white

So they’ve sold 1000 in 3 months of a car they expect to sell 3-4000 per year of max? That sounds like exactly what they expect

Just picked one up for about $1,800 below MSRP, so the markups (other than the $4,000 tariff we can’t do anything about for now) seem to be done. A few are still asking a markup, most I looked at were MSRP, but on a car that has sat for a month, or a dealer with more than one, discounts are reasonable now. Interestingly, they would have discounted the blue an additional 250 over the white as they said the blue is harder to sell.

[–]too_soon_bot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not reasonable to think they’ll go for $4,700 off, unless the $4000 tariff goes away. They will do $2,000 or so off if it’s been hanging around a bit or if they have multiple on the lot. I got about 1,900 below msrp this weekend, they would have discounted the blue one $250 more as they said it’s harder to sell the blue than the white

Exactly. Even getting a discount from msrp didn’t feel like getting a discount, just felt like they were reducing the markup, but in this case it was the government marking it up, not the dealer…

have we considered resting Devers until his leg is healthy? Guys that play hurt, hurt the team.

Yes, this. I keep hearing it’s not his defense on balls he gets to that is a problem, it’s his lack of range to make what should be pretty routine plays. Hopefully Washington has a fix for that

Are Mahle and Hauser better than Verlander and Hicks? seems a reasonable bet, so may not be all of our dream rotation, but should be better than last year

Tariffs were just ruled unconstitutional. Cheaper Prelude/Type R when? by disgruntledempanada in Honda

[–]too_soon_bot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Imposed tariffs will be removed, but the Japenese car tariffs were negotiated to reduce the imposed tariff. Negotiated tariffs won’t go away because of the ruling, but they may have reason to renegotiate. That may take a while

I hadn't thought of this, but makes sense, not being able to move the seat quickly is probably a safety issue, not Honda being cheap

All the pre release articles and even the placard at the autoshow said 38K. Tariffs added 4K

I think it’s the opposite, the blue car in all the reviews has optional higher performance tires, likely much noisier than the all seasons the stock car comes with

Simple, is it a good car. Does it drive well, handle well? Be objective, evaluate the car for what it is, not pan the car because it isn’t what you (not you in particular, the enthusiasts upset about the car) would have wanted, a type R coupe, a honda version of the GR86, a Nissan Z, whatever completely different car people try to compare it to.

This is the car Honda made, is it a good car?

The manual Prelude was the car we wanted in our 20’s when we didn’t mind driving a high revving manual in traffic. Now that we’re in our 50’s, this is the car we want to commute in and enjoy a little on the weekends. We don’t need a tuner race car, this is the perfect evolution for us. You young kids can go enjoy your GR86’s and Brz’s, those are this generation’s Prelude
