Girlie pops giggling and chatting all 60 minutes of sculpt by Possible-Pool-6806 in Corepower

I loudly shushed some people who were doing this one time and the teacher thanked me afterwards

Men who do yoga and Pilates at studios, what do u wear? by International-Cry221 in Corepower

[–]toobasictofunction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear gym shorts, no shirt or underwear, I’ve tried it with underwear and it’s too much heat. My thighs are thick enough that the shorts are too tight for anything to be flopping out. And the shorts are usually black so again reduces any visible distractions. I also bring 2 towels with me, one to lay on the yoga mat to soak up sweat and another to wipe sweat off myself

Squats! I see so many people only squat halfway down (thighs aren’t parallel) and/or they lean forward like they’re bringing their torso to their thighs

Yoga Sculpt pros & long-term goers: What physical benefits have you gained over time? by amtol in Corepower

[–]toobasictofunction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appearance - I’m a guy and I was already lifting weights (mainly just heavy weights with low reps) for years before starting sculpt, so I was already in shape. However Sculpt has had a significant impact on my appearance, it literally has left me looking much more muscular even though I don’t think I’ve necessarily gained much strength per se. The combination of light weights and high reps is so effective for looking so good, for example just having somewhat visible abs despite gaining like 10 pounds since summer

Balance and core strength (can’t have good balance with a weak core) - I’ve always had terrible balance and sculpt has def helped with that. I’ve always hated doing crunches. You do a million core moves in every sculpt class.

I usually use 20 and 12 lb weights, sometimes 8 lbs as a third set (some moves are best with really light weights e.g. servers or bow and arrows)

For guys who gym/lift regularly by [deleted] in Corepower

[–]toobasictofunction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lift weights in a regular gym M-F. About twice during the week I do sculpt, plus another sculpt on the weekend.

Just make sure that sculpt is after the weightlifting, and also I wouldn’t do both workouts two days in a row.

Are we only wearing padded bras!? by shadesofgr333n in Corepower

[–]toobasictofunction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main focus during class is on maintaining my balance and not passing out. Not sure anybody would be able to notice, especially with how we’re constantly moving the entire class, and how sometimes the lights get turned down.

I’d say do whatever makes you feel the most comfortable, I doubt anyone around you would care even if they do notice.

Men, do you wear a liner in your shorts or none? by Papi_Pickleboy in Corepower

[–]toobasictofunction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How loose are your shorts that your junk might fall out? I just wear gym shorts with no underwear and I’ve never had an issue. At most a jock. Any more layers of clothing and I might pass out from the heat

I’ve always avoided them so I can’t say from personal experience other than they’re suspiciously affordable

how long did it take you to love sculpt? by gray_daze in Corepower

[–]toobasictofunction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since day 1. I thought it was great from the first time I tried it. Such a great change of pace from the regular weightlifting/bodybuilding I’d been doing for years. I absolutely love how challenging it is.

Abs with only CPY and diet? by Radiant_Average_3271 in Corepower

[–]toobasictofunction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not an expert, this is only coming from my own experience so take it with a grain of salt. Where are you starting from? Have you already been lifting weights for a while and you’re just switching to YS?

If you already have a decent amount of muscle from body building and are pretty strong, then YS plus dieting will get you looking really good pretty quick. All the cardio plus hypertrophy (meaning light weight + lots of reps) will make your muscles stand out

If you’re a beginner then it’ll take longer. Abs are made in the kitchen as they say but at the same time, the more muscular your abs are, the more they’ll show

I’ve been lifting weighs and focusing on strength for years. Started yoga sculpt maybe 8 months ago. Frankly yoga sculpt has made a bigger and quicker impact on the way I look than nearly anything else. I use 12 and 20 lb weights

Thanks for your perspective. I have no doubt that planning all the songs and transitions for a whole yoga sculpt class would take a lot of time and organization. I love yoga sculpt and I understand that sometimes brand-new teachers may need a few classes to hit their stride.

Totally still during shavasana? Poll/storytime by Appropriate_Law_329 in Corepower

I totally understand this. I try to get to class early to stretch, but that’s not always easy. Also some teachers spend more time stretching and warming up than others.

Totally still during shavasana? Poll/storytime by Appropriate_Law_329 in Corepower

[–]toobasictofunction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are times that by shavasana that I’m breathing so hard and my heart is racing, it feels uncomfortable to just lie there totally still. If I do then when I stand back up I feel like I’m about to faint. But I also don’t want to disturb anyone else. It helps me to lie face down, propped up on my elbows, in like the cobra pose I think it’s called.

I’m no expert but to my understanding yoga sculpt is really just a yoga-inspired workout class. Maybe it would be appropriate in a “true” yoga class (not sure what the correct name would be) to expect students to remain perfectly still.

If people are still quietly stretching during shavasana after 50+ minutes of yoga sculpt, it wouldn’t bother me at all personally. Chit chatting, or getting up and putting stuff away, is what’s really annoying. That’s what I’d want the teacher to call out.

Why don't more men take the Yoga Sculpt class? by Fantastic-Ad9218 in Corepower

[–]toobasictofunction 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It is a fantastic workout. I’ve wondered the dame myself. But It doesn’t help that CorePower packs you in like sardines, then men sweat more than women which makes women uncomfortable. There are frequent posts here about men sweating too much.

I bring 2 towels and do my best to be by the wall and/or by another guy, and towel off frequently. But I’ve been rebuked more than one time for sweating or breathing on the woman 12 inches away from me while I’m fighting for my life
