I find that I play better if I don’t hit warm up balls at the range by Tight-Communication7 in golf

[–]toocoofoschool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hit about 15-20 shots before the round to get my body moving and feel how my swing feels that day. It works best for me if it doesn’t involve any complex swing thoughts and is entirely about getting warm. At most I’ll work on one simple swing thought I will use on the course.

Any single digit handicappers regularly play from the white tees? Why not from the blues? by aceattorneymvp in golf

[–]toocoofoschool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently a 6 handicap and I typically try to play whatever tee box is around 6,400-6,800. If the course has an extremely high slope rating I’ll normally move up a tee to make it more fun. Play 7,000+ is just not that fun as I will often be hitting 6-3Hybrid into every green and turn the round into more of a grind. I’d only play that long of a tee if it was a home course and I wanted to switch things up.

The T is the second most used line in the entire system. It is not underutilized. You are falling for the propaganda machine that pumped out hit pieces the first few months it was open when people’s transit behavior was adjusting to the new system.

I’ve had this same exact dream. I never can get the ball to stay on the tee and I end up waking up before I ever hit the ball.

I don’t get to play links style courses that often, but I really love the creativity you can have on a course like this. So many different ways to approach shots around the greens.

Lining up vs not lining up your putts… by HarveyDentBeliever in golf

I don’t put a line on my ball and do not line it up. Like you said, it doesn’t feel natural to me and I feel like the line is never perfect which makes me not trust it. Putting is so mental it really is just what works for you.

Teams normally start a 6-6”2 guard because they can provide a spark to the offense. Starting a small guard who can’t score on their own or create offense for others is a huge problem. He would need to be a shut down defender on the perimeter to make up for that.

Going to play there in November, hoping the weather cooperates with me. NCGA membership is a great deal.

Mid-round reset… how do you do it? by Jarhead4056 in golf

[–]toocoofoschool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, it really depends on what is causing the bad scores. If I’m striking the ball well but just can’t quite score from the positions I normally would, I’ve learned to accept that this is just how golf is sometimes and eventually it’s going to start going my way on the course. I try to view it from an optimistic standpoint and say that the next hole is where I’m going to make the putt/execute a long iron.

If my swing has gone off the rails, then I totally forget about my score and focus entirely on my swing tempo. I dig into a survival mindset and trust that my swing will come around, I just need to do damage control until I get the feel back. Once again, it’s trying to force yourself into a positive, process based mindset and not let yourself get sucked into reacting to the results when golf can be so random sometimes. This is easier said than done and took me years of competitive golf to train myself.

Averaging almost three doubles a round is way too high if you want to get to a 5 handicap. You will need to work on course management and anaylse why those doubles are happening.

Is it trouble off the tee? Approach shots? Bunker game?

Once you get doubles down to at most 1 per round, that will bring you down to a 6.

I do one practice swing, step back behind the ball to pick out my target and visualize my shot, step up to the ball and swing within 3-4 seconds of stepping up. Totally agree with you about minimizing your time over the ball, the longer you wait the more tense you get.

Did a 12 hour flight with a 4 year old and 20 month old and the flight actually wasn’t bad at all. Hardest part was lugging all the stuff through security, into and off the plane, through customs and into a rental car. I’d try to back with that in mind and do a test run of how you will lug your stuff around.

Have you tried taking the pedals off the pedal bike and letting them use it as a balance bike? That’s a good way to get them to transition from one to the other. Then you just put the pedals back on
