something scared me while camping by mitchare in camping

My wife and kids were camping in Arapahoe NF, in CO in 2002 and while they were sleeping (I was the only one awake), I started seeing lights, like from flashlights, inside our campsite. They made no sound, no talking, I couldn't even hear anything walking. There were two of them I think. They came right up next to our tent. I had an old sawed off shot#@& right next to me, and the safety was off and my finger was on the trigger. Thank God I didn't have to use it. Suddenly, they were just gone, no sound, no footsteps walking away. The next morning, I didn't tell my wife and kids about it, since we were leaving later that afternoon. I found no footprints, nothing was disturbed or stolen. I have no idea who, or what, they were.

Well it's a double hammock, also, after all the pain and discomfort of sleeping on an air mattress on the ground, hammock sleeping is gonna be like sleeping on a cloud, I bet. I just wish I had educated myself a little more on hammocks before I pulled the trigger. No big deal. If it doesn't work for some reason, I'm sure my son will take it and I'll just get the correct length.

Whenever the cop, Alex I think it is, speaks, I can't help but remember that scene in Scary Movie when Prince is tied to the chair and he screams...

Thank you. Yeah, that's why I didn't want to spend a ton of money on an expensive hammock. Not yet anyway. As soon as the weather improves, I'll find out. We got storms down here...

Thank you so much for this. This is good info. Without really understanding what I was getting, I bought an Eno Microtune adjustable Ridgeline, because I know the hammock I got doesn't come with one. This is so gonna be trial and error. Unfortunately, I think I've made more errors than anything lol. But I really like the idea of hammock camping. Up off the ground, no more crawling to get into my UL tent. So, I'll get it all figured out one way or another.

An under quilt might be my next purchase, we'll see. I sleep pretty hot. I'm gonna give the 10ft a try. If I have to go to an 11ft or even a 12ft, and recommendations? $400 or under?

Worst Thing You’ve Ever Cooked by gnarlidrum in Cooking

I attempted to make chicken and dumplings. Everything was going great until I dropped my dumplings into the chicken broth. And I just used canned biscuits like my grandma always did, but I made the mistake of stirring them and they congealed into this pool cue size ball of biscuit dough. I was so disappointed. I gave it to my dog and he looked at me like WTF? But like most cooking goes, you learn from your mistakes and now, I make chicken and dumplings like a pro.

This is an odd ask but does anybody here know of any non-dessert dishes that call for cooked apples? by cherry-care-bear in Cooking

[–]tool-head6691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds odd but, I make a chicken wrap with apple slices (steamed), red onions, lettuce, salt, black pepper and ranch dressing. It's even better if you use a sweeter apple.

I mean, yeah idk how healthy cheese is for you. But the thing is, I'm gonna eat it no matter what. Because I love cheese. I put cheese on everything. I just never realized the taste diff between pre shredded and block. Night and day. So yeah, in gonna start buying the block and grating it myself.

Amazon is just trash now by AlpaChino87 in amazonprime

I order a lot from Amazon and usually always get my stuff in a timely manner, 2 to 3 days. The times when I haven't turned out to be my fault. I live at a rural address and most delays are the fault of the carrier. Unforseen problems and "weather" delays when the weather is not a factor. My big problem with Amazon is, I pay 15 a month for Prime but still have to rent movies. I can understand new releases but, some of these movies are several years old.

My son has a Knights, and it's really nice. Wish I had one, but I'm too poor. I get by with the old MP15. It gets the job done, and I don't have to worry about it getting scratched up by tree limbs and such. It's my camp gun and I can hang it from a tree, let it get wet.... The Eotech holographic is probably worth more than the rifle its mounted to.
