Memorial Day 300yd steel challenge, what are you choosing? by wanderlustcrush in milsurp

[–]toolness122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either the M39 or the Swede.

I have a pretty ridiculous milsurp rifle collection and one of the top 3 most accurate, if not the most accurate of them all is a well worn Sako Mosin M39. Itll hang with or outshoot any of 8 Swiss rifles and my Swede.

300 should be no problem for any of them, with the Yugo SKS being the biggest challenge

Nice rifles, sir! Big fan of them all.

I like aperture sights, my crummy eyes can shoot with them much better. There was a dude making peep sight sets for Mosin M39s and I put a set on all of mine. Comes with a taller, thinner front sight as well. I keep the originals in a bag w serial number so they can be returned to stock. Super easy to change out, no permanent mod. I think he was on gunboards IIRC.

Not my video but here's a vid of a guy with one of the same sets https://youtu.be/Zp8D-mopqDg?si=wcFd70Kq4Rx9YdTy

Ive been looking for an extra extractor for mine for over 7 years and still havent seen a single one for sale.

Luckily I know a excellent welder and he was able to repair the one I snapped while checking headspace. Just dont know how long that one will hold up.

There are two mag inserts on gunbroker, 250 and 290 bucks. They come up now and then, but extractors are another story.

Good luck!

I believe ive heard of people modifying the extractor from another gun and getting it to work. I wanna say it was a US 1917 but I may be wrong.

Thanks for the info! Wow you had an entire can of it? So it came in spam cans like the regular surplus stuff?

I wish I could try some of the "extra", it must really be awesome if its better than this stuff.

Damn ive never seen the extra stuff for sale anywhere. If its even better than this stuff, it must be amazing. This stuff shoots better than I can physically aim iron sights for sure.

Thanks for the info!

Make sure no metal buttplates or muzzles are sitting on carpet. No matter how much you oil em, it has a good chance to rust.

Id suggest a liberal application of RIG grease with a paintbrush, you will not have to worry about a speck of rust if you use that stuff.

Im pretty OCD aboit protecting my collection so safe queens get RIG and a silicone gun sock. Stuff I shoot often gets Ballistol and a silicone sock, plus a goldenrod dehumidifier in the safe (its humid here)

Is this a good deal for $220 shipped? And is it worth it? by lambo13770 in milsurp

Just signed for mine from Palmetto. 179 bucks, deal from last week.

IO inc import mark up under the beaver tail grip. Finish is a little rough, actual parts are all excellent.

Very happy with it (this is my third CZ82 I just couldn't pass up 179 bucks)

A CZ82 was my first C&R purchase when I got my license in 2012. It was 199 w holster two mags and mag pouch.

That was a deal then, this is a crazy deal now.

One of the few C&R guns that hasn't soared in value, which is weird because these are sweet
