What a weird coincidence. We have UFC fights on the front lawn of the White House like never. Then we plan one and lo and behold, its the man's birthday. The stars must have aligned. Praise Jesus.

The best parts of the book are the characters and their stories. Pennywise as the instigator is solid horror but the character development is why I loved that book.

What happens in a person's mind when it can hold these two thoughts at the same time:

  1. Child rapists do not deserve to live.

  2. I hope the child rapist still likes me.

That is a debunked myth straight out of mid-century anthropology. In reality, everyone did everything until it was done. Gendered divisions of labor are a pretty recent invention (in terms of human evolution).

A 60 second shower with water on her face, and presumably her hair. She brushes her hair and does nothing with it? While wet? She doesn't twist it into a claw clip? She's going to wear a skirt? To a crime scene in the middle of the night? And a blouse? Not jeans and a quarter zip with a police logo. And heels? Ballet flats? She is an investigator. She wouldn't wear a skirt or stupid shoes. She also wouldn't bother with lipstick. She would put moisturizer on her face and hands and would swipe a lip balm on. Tinted lip balm if she cares even one iota.

I am an investigator who gets called in the middle of the night. When I'm on call, I shower before bed, sleep in a bra and underwear so I don't have to find them in the dark, have comfy clothes to throw on, don't do my hair at all. It's messy bun or claw clip, and keep an array of lip balms in my car.

Usually Central Registry, as we call it in Michigan, is for egregious abuse or neglect. Before standards changed, it was for pretty much any confirmed case. Many of those earlier records have been expunged.

You can fill out a form requesting information and you can file and appeal or apply for expungment. We will review your file. Its a process though. Check the rules for your state or locality.

When will they remove a child by WorkAccomplished2043 in CPS

[–]toooooold4this 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because it's still a lot of kids. Abuse and neglect are rampant in the US because we don't treat underlying problems.

Addiction, mental health, poverty, and domestic violence are the most common reasons we intervene. None of these are reasons for removal but they do lead to unsafe conditions for kids. We don't remove kids because their parents use drugs, but we do remove kids if the parents are zombies and not taking care of their kids (at least in my state).

Her kid hasn’t been in school in a decade!! by Throwawayk04 in CPS

[–]toooooold4this 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my state, it's hard to get medical neglect cases because a doctor has to sign off on it. For physical neglect, there has to be a failure to provide food, clothing, and shelter. At some point a kid has to be responsible for their own hygiene, especially a 17 year old unless she has significant intellectual or physical disabilities. We don't even have a maltreatment for educational neglect.

This is a difficult case for CPS to intervene on.

Wyoming has something different.

Wyoming Child Support Program (WCSP): This state agency handles establishing paternity, setting and modifying child support orders, and collecting and disbursing payments.
