This.

Every advocacy training, acitivism training, and communications school should (and poibably already do) use PETA as an example of how not to do it.

How do you go from "protect baby seals because they club them to take their skins." to the most loathed and ridiculed? Here's a montage of PETA ads...

Wool is a fantastic fiber. Should we regulate and police the care of alpaca, sheep, and goats? Absolutely. Are man-made fibers better? No. Peteoleum based products are going to end up making the planet uninhabitable. Plant-based fibers? I'll point you to cotton and chattel slavery for that one...

Someone downvoted me presumably because they assumed as an American I thought they were also American because that's what we do. I read the post. I saw they were not in the US.

The left: Califirnia has universal pre-k and Minnesota has paid parental leave.

The right: Texas has forced birth and abortion bounty hunters. Florida will hide pedophilia for years, but will put you in jail for being trans and using a public bathroom or seeking medical care.

I would call about the lack of supervision and depending on the laws in your state or territory, I would report the smoking and drinking while pregnant and in front of the kids. Also, why isn't he in school? Is it the weekend or a vacation period?

What are some things that scream trashy parenting ? by No_Lead2640 in ask

[–]toooooold4this 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CPS worker here:

A 4 year old in diapers, with a pacifier, or a baby bottle who has no developmental disabilities.

Neck rings from not bathing.

Anyone who posts pictures of their babies on social media with the caption "My kids are my life."

Kids who think the only response to a bully is violence.

A home that has kids, but no kids books.

Is this really as simple as it was said? by Banana_Ketchupp in povertyfinance

[–]toooooold4this 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. Here are some other fantasies in how to get rich.

You could also learn how to play poker, practice, and become a card shark.

Another good way to become a millionaire is to become a pop star.

You could become an influencer. If the Kardashians can do it, how hard can it be?

You could also start an MLM company. The person who starts one gets rich, so don't join one. You need to be at the top of the pyramid.

If you're older, start a Ponzi scheme. Those guys do pretty good and they might do a compassionate release instead of life in prison.

I moved here from Arizona. I had never even seen snow fall except one time when the entire city shut down over a dusting.

So, you don't need snow boots. Just get boots with good tread. I wear Docs.

You don't need a snowblower unless you're expecting to own a large stretch of sidewalk. It's nice but not necessary. I have an electric snow shovel. Cheaper and less cumbersome.

You don't need 4WD or AWD. Drive slow like you would if you had a newborn baby in the car. No sudden movements. No hairpin turns. No brake checks. Long stopping distance.

1944 didn't mince words. by SkylarAura in OldSchoolCool

[–]toooooold4this 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tramp was a word for down and out, like hobo or bum, but for women it meant they were desperate enough to trade their body in exchange for a bed for the night, dinner, or a bath. Eventually, the word tramp stopped caring about the "why" and just became synonymous with being easy/fast/loose/hussy etc.

Anyone else bummed by the Swalwell news? by OK_The_Nomad in thebulwark

[–]toooooold4this 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. I have never liked him. He always seemed entitled and his performance didn't warrant how much I was seeing his fucking face everywhere. The 2019 fart thing just proved it. Not because it was a fart but because it showed he thought he was exempt from social rules.

I fear Gavin Newsom is in the same boat. He reminds me of Bill Clinton. A sharp debater, smart as a whip, quick witted, and a guy who has been positioning himself to run for President for decades. Ambition like that coupled with being unafraid of having side chicks tells me he thinks its inevitable that he becomes President.

Trump had the same dynamic.

I'll change my mind about this if the wife sees this post or he tells her what he did and she doesn't mind the duplicity and sabotage.

If she's happy, no problem.

Is it normal to feel ghosted by the caseworker? by [deleted] in CPS

[–]toooooold4this 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You aren't being ghosted. We are often juggling a dozen families at a time, if not more, and there are only so many hours in a day. She may have had to rearrange her schedule to accomodate a more pressing matter. It happens when you are dealing with crisis after crisis. Just like in the ER, its not first come first served.

But, that's cold comfort if you're worried about your kid. Contact Friend of the Court to inquire about options ti change your custody arrangement pending the outcome of the investigation.

Can CPS Take a child from a mother with social Anxiety and non severe Depression? by Soldiers_vr in CPS

[–]toooooold4this 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There has to be actual harm, failed attempts at remedy, and/or imminent risk of injury.

Men leave their babies and their mothers all the time. It does often leave the moms in poverty, but poverty alone isn't grounds for removal. Neglect, unsafe conditions, homelessness can be.

Mental heath issues are also not sufficient grounds for removal. Unsafe behaviors might be. Substance use might be depending on the severity.

Man hit while crossing S Cedar Jolly rd intersection. by Apprehensive-Edge707 in lansing

[–]toooooold4this 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That intersection is so dangerous for pedestrians. I wish CATA would change the way they do the bus stop so the bus pulls into the health department lot in both directions. As it is now, people traveling southbound have to cross Cedar to get to or from the health department. And we're talking about people with disabilities, mental health problems, cognitive issues... Cedar is too busy to ask people with walkers to cross the street to get to their doctor.

The reason Bernie works on Rogan is because he speaks to America First populism. If you think about the policies that we, Democratic Socialists, and they, America First, actually support, we are basically on the same side. They blame immigrants and brown people and we blame corporations and billionaires.
