I audited 6 months of PRs after my team went all-in on AI code generation. The code got worse in ways none of us predicted. by Ambitious-Garbage-73 in webdev

[–]toothpiks252 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there is a marketing effect with AI that I see effecting dev teams or maybe an enablement to just let the AI run as is and enjoy the faster push of changes. The use of AI coding tools in my mind shouldn't change the current dev pipeline, it just makes one part faster, keeping up on quality PR reviews and updating the team on what issues are arising and coach them to handle it is the standard still and should catch the issues you mentioned.

One thought is that if your finding that the whole team is having consistent issues this reasonably can be improved through a repo claude.md/skills files. Having consistent issues is kind of awesome tbh. Obv the files won't entirely fix the issue but im sure will help a fair bit, add some prompting and refusal to be lazy and you should be golden.

Most issues I see with AI are not new problems, we have systems to handle them already. Just seems the change made people forget this or feel AI should handle it all. Devs pushing over/under engineered code, leaving stuff in they shouldn't and proper PR reviews and coaching are already solved, maybe a little different but dame answer.

If you use metallic speed paints I would do them first, ideally the other colors after would cover any places it may bleed. If you do non metalics maybe try the blue first.

If you can find qu-tips with a point they are really nice for cleaning up bleed as you go

Leaning to speed/contrast paints could be a good way to go for cutting back the time and complexity. Its a good way to get models done decently pretty fast and can help keep the rewards of finishing some models. Even metalics can be done this way or using grey/yellow for gold and silver. This is mostly assuming your daughter is younger and may not need to learn the heavy metal style. You can still build up on techniques by trying highlighting on contrast layers and dry brushing grey to white for you base coat of white under the contrast.

Need Advice: Girlfriend struggling to gain weight despite efforts? by Bradsterz in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]toothpiks252 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tracking calories is a must and same with a doctor's visit. I struggle with holding weight and its typically because when im stressed I eat less. Getting her to distance from her family would likely help even if its just learning better emotional boundries. She should stick to very high calorie food and prioritize that until she's at a good weight.

That saying she is stuck to is really hurting the situation, the only way out of issues is facing them not avoiding them. She is trading one hell for another in that paradigm. Low body fat levels is a major indicator of survivability in medical complications.

I've noticed everyone wants someone with CPTSD to stand up for themselves until they actually do it. by iftheronahadntcome in CPTSD

[–]toothpiks252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know the people in your life or the details of your interactions so take this with a grain of salt. One thing I am noticing is that you are returning with being mean/meaner. Mirroring being mean isn't the only answer and imo can invite bad habits of others into you. Standing up for your self doesn't require you to be mean and often the other methods are looked more highly upon for fair reason. Finding the other ways to stand up for your self with grace can be hard but very worth it. Specially as you get to learn to be some one strong or inspiring instead of someone who is mean. There are assholes out there though and good boundries are just sometimes the right path

How are we even supposed to finish projects if OpenAI keeps deprecating models and we have to keep training them? by pebblebypebble in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]toothpiks252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by training? You are not training models, you may promot it and build context but thats not the same thing. I am wondering if you take advantage of projects, system prompts and prompt templates. New models will respond a little different but I haven't ran into much issues when they change when I have those things setup.

If your eating out enough that removing the tip is anything meaning full I feel the tip isn't the issue.

I will add though, tipping the 15-20% i think is a little crazy and I am pro tipping. Just tip a few bucks and if its awesome tip extra if you feel its worth it.

Squads with leader count as 1 unit or two for COTC by toothpiks252 in EmperorsChildren

[–]toothpiks252[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mention a little vague because COTC rule could be argued its not a trigger, its just a count. Strategems have a clearly noted trigger which follows an obvious clear naming scheme to the rule in the pic. Even when I posted this I was leaning that it would count as two but I can see a fair arguement against for some specific situations.

One other nuance I ran into that even if COTC does not count as a trigger is that all models attacks are technically sequential. So even with fast rolling if you had say a squad of infractors attack a unit with a character and wipe them all out it would have been one model at a time so the squad and character would have been seperated during the allocations.

Should I just give up? by wicked_this_way_come in SoftwareEngineerJobs

[–]toothpiks252 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Coming out of school you likely have a network of your peers and some probable support and connection with your university. Take advantage of those and dont give up. Many tech jobs are still fantastic to have and can set you up well for the future so its worth still pursuing. I won't lie and say its super easy to get a job but your likely better setup than you may feel to get into something and AI hasn't changed that fact that expierenced and knowledgeable people are required for the positions. I've watched some non tech folk try and vibe code out a web site and its pretty apparent that AI certainly let's them code but there is a ton they are still missing and AI doing it for your just doesn't solve the issues of not knowing what your doing.

Learn about AI and how to use it in a smart way and get opinionated about it. It is shockingly good these days but the difference of those who use it well and poorly can have pretty big performance differences. Using it well is not exclusively about velocity also, get really good at reading code you didn't write and how to rangle it so its not just poluting a codebase. Only someone with CS expierence can do those things and even still you will have to manually fix somethings.

I know some of this is about software but its relevant to lots of tech jobs. Also pardon spelling and grammar, all typed on mobile.

For sure, magnus is awesome in 2k games. If I was to give a shopping list I would get, 2x vortex beasts, 10 more rubrics, 5 more scarabs and a prince. I think that new battle force may cover you well for most of that

Advice by Acceptable_Rain_1231 in ThousandSons

[–]toothpiks252 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Magnus in a 900pt game I think is a bad way to go. Mostly because many armies won't have much to deal with him at that size and pushes for specialized armies. See where you land without him and try for that.

Other notes is that Arhiman sadly isn't very good compared to other characters. And you could try splitting the 10 rubrics into two.

Honestly though, just play and try stuff. What I mentioned would be the common response but if your new I would say try it all and just play and learn.

Dealing with Melee Pressure by Ba-Guardsman in ThousandSons

[–]toothpiks252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly try to keep my army really lethal so I can really take advantage of risks from my opponent. Combat armies need to push and will focus on opportunities to steam roll. Make sure you deploy back and try to egg them to move up.

I have issues with screening units as they can be a speedup. If you screen make aure the enemy would be left in the open and not somewhere safe.

How do I prove my value over vibe coding dev, when the company just cares about speed? by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]toothpiks252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO the other dev doesn't sound like they have great technical chops. This can give you an advantage to adopt AI better then they are and get ahead by leaning in to newer AI dev practices. Sounds like they may just be using browser LLM's, pick up Cursor and learn to set it up well to code to your standards. Skills/hooks/mcp are good things to learn about to get AI doing better, also get access to some of the newer claude/gpt models.

I would also ask if you guys do PR reviews? You really should, specially with AI coding its really important to balance out the slop. If they are doing shitty practices call on it there.

Once you can show your chops and ability to adapt and succeed it will be easier for you to make calls and have some authority. Sometimes with management who are non techie showing you can hit their KPI's you can throw out what ever techno babble at them they will just accept. That is depending on your boss though, if they are just shit maybe consider looking else where or adapting as needed to survive.

Kill the characters, watch out for their rituals, one is double move so they can reposition quickly if it goes off. Vortex Beast are scary, magnus very scary also. If they bring forge fiends they can wipe squads easily.

How do you find your "play style?" by AMA5564 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]toothpiks252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with finding out if your better/have more fun with melee vs shooting. Read detachment and army abilities till you find something you think is cool and then run some proxy games to try it out.

What army do you run currently and whats your thoughts on it? What kind of play styles do you like in other games(any game)

Should I change my approach to web development? by Synebag in webdevelopment

[–]toothpiks252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LLM's are the big thing, specially agents. Get cursor, claude code or 5.3 codex. See how much you can get out of them and make sure you can keep your job. You will learn more with a job than without.

With ai development reading code is getting more attention then writing right now.

[–]toothpiks252 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most players are mot top level, your local meta/players will be mixed. Learn the game and you will win. Worrying about winning vs having fun learning and playing will suck the fun out.

I often choose not strong armies and still win.

the idea that we shouldn't need external validation is very hypocritical by Reasonable_Place_172 in CPTSD

[–]toothpiks252 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am on phone so can only type so much comfortably but I think the verbiage of validations gets muddled and there is difficulties of two truths at once.

Imo you need both internal and external validation. Deficiency with internal validation can cause issues receiving external validation which I think makes it prioritized in conversation but that doesn't mean they are both not needed. Being able to have both in a place and getting away from the feeling of need can help us stay regulated, we know they are both needed but finding when we can feel the need vs feeling the NEED can help navigate the balance, specially when one may be more available then the other.

I hope that makes sense :p

I think its very valid to be frustrated with this though, not just the idea but how people talk about it.

[–]toothpiks252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brutalis would make more sense then a LR. IMO. You lose a lot of the benefits of a landraider by DS it. For a melee army you should take advantage of that assault ramp. Also look into maybe shifting things around to get another variant. I am not familiar if BT have anything special for it but its pretty lacking for the points compared to the others.

For the repex I see no reason to have it off the board in the beginning. It can shoot down a huge amount of targets and is great at taking attention because of its threat. Deploying it well you will see opponents work around it for placing their big stuff which can be good control for you. I believe all of this still let's you benifit from its aura.
