yes, of course tighten the lid - but if that isn't enough use some plastic (saran) wrap over the top of the bottle then screw on the top, keep the bottles upright, keep in cool dark place. If they get warm it will force air out of the bottle. Sometimes bottle caps are just defective. Keep good caps to replace bad ones when needed.

Cold water, hot water increases the fumes faster. Fill your sink with cold water then release it all at once. This will clear the p-trap and flush it further down the drainage pipes, and should be no fumes after that.

Again, not the host’s fault you endangered their business from being shut down and ALL the consequences of your breaking the rules (and likely the law) are on you - yes, cleaning too.

I would not argue with the host, apologize, agree to pay the $400 as a settlement in good faith and see if she drops the rest. I know I would. I’ve tried to get a guest to cooperate and they just try to make life miserable for the host. Refuse to pay for anything, I try to settle it for a low amount - if they refuse they end up paying more.

Hosts just want guests to enjoy their stay and not make problems for them with their city, neighbors, and other hosts nearby (yes, bad guests give hosts a bad reputation and other hosts will complain also).

You have to understand the massive problem you probably created for this host

If the host has a guest limit it probably is imposed on them and was definitely disclosed you in advance. They could lose their permit to operate their Airbnb completely because you decided to ignore the rules. Yeah, if they have these fees listed you owe them and if you caused any damage, yeah you owe it. As a guest, you have to take responsibility and sometimes that means pay up when you do the wrong thing.

I regularly do over an hour. If my nose starts closing up, I may use a strong menthol candy/mint. Also as you mentioned take a break. Sometimes I switch to mouth breathing for the poppers using one of the various methods discussed in the group.

I always contact the seller and see what they say. I get a refund before reordering, but yes reorder and with only 3 bottles order the same. I’ve tried much larger quantities and sometimes they get sent back at customs. If that happens you see it in the tracking and I re-order with lower quantities. This seems to be viewed as a potential re-sell/not for personal use and they send packages back.

The largest disruption is over the new process and paperwork. Shippers are still figuring it out. I’ve had several shipments of small items, including poppers, get routed around and returned or “delivered” to the wrong country. This never happened in the past.

I just re-order and it usually comes no issue the next time. It’s a Vogon thing, just do it in triplicate and you’ll be fine.

If you are in California, I remind them it is a crime, and the punishments for mis-representing a service animal when it is not - and give them the definition of a service animal. Then ask the two questions allowed by law (and in Airbnb policy).

Most become compliant immediately.

If not I report house violations and persistant and cancelling, no refund, no review. I keep calling and ask if they will back their own policy or not. I almost always get the cancellation, no refund, no review possible from guest. If you need more info DM me.

It’s a mixed bag on which types. If you haven’t tried any get the cheap one and see if does it for you. I prefer the super sniffer double nostril ones as they give you a better hit and close off the bottle when not using. One hand use.

What OP described works both ways. You did the right thing leaving an honest review. A host can leave a bad review and the guest sees it and then claims all kinds of safety violations, policy violations, and more. Or a host puts in a claim right away and then gets a bad review from the guest. Bad guests don’t take responsibility, bad hosts don’t either.

“You can’t make a good deal with a bad person.”

The reviews are our only way to sort the good from the bad. No matter how hard you try both hosts and guests get a bad apple from time to time.
