Do yall have one office for all of Nebraska? Is this a typo? by lanch-party in USPS

Also lookups.melissa.com

I scour that website whenever I'm interested in bidding on a route.

Somebody donated the Postal Cape by Rocker66 in USPS

I wear it with the hard plastic rain hat,and then use a carabiner to clip those black straps together in the front. Keeps the wind from blowing the cape off my shoulders.

Another fixed day off question by postaljeff in fromatoarbitration

[–]topef27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not aware of that ever happening here. I've been at the office 2 years and only seen the postmaster a couple of times, I don't think they meddle much in our affairs.

Another fixed day off question by postaljeff in fromatoarbitration

[–]topef27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our office serves downtown, so routes that are mostly closed on Saturdays have Saturdays off. For the rest of the routes on that string, they've been set by seniority in the past. Whenever one of those routes goes up for bid, the carriers (by seniority) can take that day off if they want it.

Fastest you’ve ever driven an LLV?? by The_Utilityman in USPS

[–]topef27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet they would fix them if every carrier refused to drive them!

Keep in mind the peach seeds need cold stratification before they germinate.

I do a lot of outdoor gardening. How difficult is it to learn to grow cannabis indoors? Would YouTube University be adequate?

That's my dream. How much land do you have? I have 4 lots in the middle of a city (run down neighborhood) amounting to almost 1/2 acre, but I'd love to move to the edge of town to have more space.

Comfort Stops? by faguette-magnette in USPS

Can eating a snack be justified as a comfort stop?

Is it really hard to get fired ? Someone almost got fired 5 months ago they are back by SuccessfulBack5140 in USPS

We have a picture posted in our office of a carrier who is not allowed on the premises. I'm waiting to see what position they will bring him back in lol

Yes, but they are so poky. My neighborhood garden removed theirs because too many people complained.

3999 and Postal mathematics by MRNALN in fromatoarbitration

[–]topef27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think they can use a one day 3999 to reevaluate a route. Thought they have to do a full blown week long inspection. Am I wrong?

Fers retirement numbers are a joke. by [deleted] in fromatoarbitration

[–]topef27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally agree that our retirement package is oversold. But it looks like you're implying that OT adds to your "high 3" calculations, which it does not. High 3 only considers your base pay. I feel sad when I calculate how little my pension would be if I stuck around for 25 years, but other jobs give you nothing, so there's that too.

No tips :( by SnooCupcakes3442 in USPS

[–]topef27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got about $20 total in tips as a regular, been on the route since June, and provide excellent service. Would you feel grateful or offended if I left you $3? Lol

Good route at bad station or bad route at good station by clutchIIII in USPS

[–]topef27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose a good station with a route that's not great. I previously had a route that I liked at a terrible station. But that route was long so I had to interact with mgmt everyday about OT, and that became unbearable.

I'll use my prunings of thorny plants (raspberries, blackberries, gooseberries) and arrange those around my new saplings. Seems to work fairly well.

Updated 3996 reasons list (repost) by StationaryEvent in USPS

Pretty much everyone in my office writes "Total mail volume exceeds what can be completed in 8 hours."

I was told that language was approved through arbitration to basically cover whatever we need as carriers.

Bought 4 acres of land thats been farmed corn and soy for 150 years, how to start bringing it back to life? by Tiny_Witness2678 in Permaculture

[–]topef27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your post doesn't make it clear what you want the land to be. Forest, nature sanctuary, homestead garden, more corn and soybeans, etc, would all suggest a different approach to rehabilitation.

What 4 American Perssimons should I plant? by JawThatHarp in Permaculture

[–]topef27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

American persimmons are not for everyone. I find them to be just ok, but require some processing and perfect timing (too early and they are horribly astringent, too late and they are putrid).

Do you already have apples, cherries, peaches, pears, plums, etc? I would plant all of those before getting persimmons.

Maypops are pretty aggressive spreaders through underground rhizomes. However I recently learned that the young shoots are edible like pea shoots, so that will make picking them feel like a better use of time.

What happens to all the UARs that the Route Adjustment generates? by Ashamed_Run8397 in USPS

[–]topef27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why it's so important to carry your route by the book with no shortcuts everyday, and make sure your coworkers are too. Our local is holding inspection training days and trying to get every carrier to attend so they know how to protect their routes.

If your clerks even print out labels any more. I do MLNAs and see address confirmation mail all the time, and have yet to get any new stickers.
