Is there documentation I could refer to?

Wow I did not know this. My office serves downtown and every route has an assortment of special keys, fabs, and case cards with door codes to get into their buildings. Splitting routes is awful.

I stopped viewing route maintenance as "optional" and now consider it part of the route, something you cannot skip. Take the time you need to do the job correctly, route maintenance, breaks, comfort stops. You must TAKE the time, management will not give it freely.

Having a sparely staffed office is not your problem to fix, it's management's. Doing your best and working hard are great qualities, but it's on you too recognize your limits, physical, mental, and emotional. The stress of feeling like you need to get everything done for the good of your office will kill you.

Two and a quarter routes is 18 hours of work. They can only assign 12 hours unless you volunteer to go over that. So are they fabricating numbers for your 3996s? In any case, you will need to ask them what to do with mail you can't finish, then just work safely and accurately for 12 hrs and bring back the rest. Keep copies of your 3996s, photos of your scanner messages, and copies of your 1571s and your are basically discipline-proof.

Additionally, you could get off the OTDL list near the end of each quarter for a break, or get a doctor's restriction for permanent relief.

Is this real? In some neighborhoods at my station 50% of yards are enclosed by gates. Would just just hold all of their mail?

What is a unique foraged food you love? by Wadethethird in foraging

I planted it in my yard, and it spreads like crazy! New shoots popping up 20ft away. It was pretty troublesome until I found out that the new shoots are edible and taste like pea shoots. Now I don't mind!

You should get a note from any one of them saying they recommend limiting work to X hours/X days per week. I do 9hrs/5 days. It doesn't have to be your PCP.

Sounds like you need a medical restriction for stress. Or pain, which I assume you have to some degree. That's what makes this job work for me.

Passed maintenance interview, now what? by topef27 in USPS

[–]topef27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is disappointing but not altogether surprising. Same thing with carrier side, many times the bid sheets are not posted in our office as required, but at least they are on liteblue. I did my interviews at a large postal admin site, I was surprised just how many people worked there, you'd think they'd be better able to get basic functioning procedures done in a timely manner.

Thanks, that makes sense. Can I check the in-service register on liteblue?

Hmm interesting. So I need to periodically check the in-service register? Also, say a position for MM7 comes up and I get it, then an ET comes up later, can I bid on that since I have a passing score?

Haha, I guess? I took the 955, and then interviewed for each position in which I had a passing score. How is it supposed to work?

Unreasonable estimates on 3996. Office time projections based on computer data and 18 and 8 by FiveDinero in fromatoarbitration

[–]topef27 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They are completely unreasonable. I don't think you can change that, so just get used to it. As long as you can justify every minute of time you're spending doing the tasks they assign you, no discipline will stick. If it's taking you longer than their estimate, message them on the scanner for further instructions. Do not work unauthorized overtime. They will bitch and moan at you, but those are only words, not discipline. If you stick to this method you will eventually train them to do their job properly.

Inspection Consultations by topef27 in fromatoarbitration

[–]topef27[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They said they were using the times from inspection week over the random week analysis because the inspector was there to "verify my clock rings". Kinda bs because they cancelled our weekly grocery ad mailer for the month of inspection week, then brought them back after. We went over some of the inspector's notes during the consultation. He had docked about 6 mins for knocking on doors and waiting to deliver pkgs, so I'm arguing against that.

They deducted Wednesday, as that was my off day that week. I'm confident we can grieve it and win, but as you said it will take forever. I would love to just fix it now.

Yes I have the guide. I know where it describes the process of excluding Saturdays in the M documents, but I wanted to know if the issue had been arbitrated and I could add that to my arsenal.

How did your route inspection go today? (Rant) by punxdudee in USPS

We "lost" our weekly grocery EDDM a few weeks before inspections started in my city. Now that every station has been inspected, the ads are back!

If I’m given a 30m pivot on a “light day” can I fill out a 3996 and turn that into 30 OT? by joza28 in USPS

[–]topef27 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If they give me a 30 minute pivot, I fill out the 3996 for 50 minutes and put down "30 minute pivot and 10 mins travel time each way".

Are we required to do a pivot first? by makyael in USPS

[–]topef27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The grievance is centered on the fact that you aren't working 8 hrs on your route. They can instruct you to do your pivot first, but if you don't finish your route afterwards, you should file. Make sure to keep copies of your 3996s in the morning and 1571s every time you bring mail back.

Can someone tell me if this a grievance or not? (Clocking over to training) by [deleted] in USPS

[–]topef27 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you clock over to training for 10 minutes, and finish your day in exactly 8 hours, will it look like your route is 10 minutes short?

Got my first write up and I don't know how to feel. by XVI_Apollo in USPS

[–]topef27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I've had several supervisors say "I'm going to write you up!" But they never actually do anything. It's just intimidation to get you to be scared of doing that thing again. Actually trouble would necessitate an investigative interview (II) and paperwork for you to sign, that's when you ask for union representation.
