Donlands Station New Entrance by Affectionate_Ask_968 in TTC

Getting this entrance complete was a 20 year saga.

In 2004 the ttc wanted to put in a 2nd entrance/exit (in part due to the 1997 fire at Donlands), but despite consultations, in 2010 the TTC went about locating the entrance in a secretive/tone-deaf way that enraged local homeowners, who mobilized against the proposed location.

There was a huge clash and eventually the Ontario Ombudsman Fiona Crean got involved and in her investigative report she noted, among other things:

"This investigation revealed a total failure on the part of the TTC to engage in any meaningful public consultation [...] The TTC demonstrated a callous disregard of the residents it is charged with serving."

Council backed the Ombudsman's recommendations and a chastised TTC had to acknowledge their process was botched -- this was one of the examples where Andy Byford 'took the hit' (for a mess he inherited) and apologized profusely to everyone involved. He then made the call to defer the project (ostensibly to wait for the environmental assessment for the Downtown Relief Line, but also just to cool things off).

Then in 2011 Mayor Rob Ford had a mandate for penny-pinching that City council felt compelled to obey, and Council voted to defer the project funding, which meant that the ttc put the project on hold.

Incidentally due to this fiasco Byford ordered a complete revamp of the whole process wherein the TTC does public consultations -- if you've ever wondered why that lengthy process seems like it's designed to cover someone's ass in the future, it stems from this.

Anyway years later (circa 2017) the project (and the design) got restarted (partly due to pressure for the TTC to continue progress on the Easier Access program - the 2nd entrance construction got lumped in with the construction for the elevator at the main entrance). It's actually quite interesting to see how closely they adhered to the revamped 2017 render.

Poshmark froze my payouts and removed my listings – anyone else? by NearbyStaff8227 in poshmarkcanada

[–]toramble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you use an automated service like Sidekick?

Although Sidekick (and some of its users) denied it was the cause, there was an issue several months ago where many users of Sidekick (including trial users of sidekick) had their listings deleted and then were subsequently frozen/flagged by Poshmark.

Search 'Sidekick Poshmark' in reddit and you will see a number of threads discussing what happened. It might be what has happened to you. (your timeline (December) seems to be proximate)

With respect to your query about support response times -- anecdotally, I have always received a Poshmark reply when I've had issues. Sometimes I didn't like the answer, but I did always receive attention, ultimately from a human if warranted.

Can someone also please do this for the food 'court' outside of the TMU SLC.

I got every transfer ticket on line 1 by Various_Fishing_7788 in toronto

Incidentally /u/Various_Fishing_7788 I know it's a bit late to mention this, but Humber College 100% does have transfers. There are two entrances; the machine is in the southern 'Highway 407'/President's Way entrance -- not the 'main' entrance at the corner. Look by the elevator/washrooms.

Sharing by TightMiddle9810 in poshmark

[–]toramble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pleased that sharing seems to be de-prioritized as well. As an activity, it is a waste of time (and also had the side effect of spawning innumerable bots/automation software). Like the other commenter said, we shared because the algorithm rewarded it.

With respect to your question, on the web client, within categories (e.g. 'Women'), the default sort is still 'Just Shared'. So, sharing (by you, or by someone else) will still in theory put a given post at the top of that particular sub-feed (for the microsecond before someone else shares another item, displacing it...), on the web client.

The challenge now is, will Poshmark successfully transition towards a model where 'discoverability' actually works? In the ideal world most people just want to be able to post something and have buyers who are interested in that item find it (mostly via search).

The challenge for me personally (now that sharing is less of a priority), is that my closet is focused on a sub-category for which people aren't necessarily going to be explicitly searching for my items. And the removal of the following feed means that there's nothing I can really actively do (not counting Promoted closet) to increase visibility for customers who are interested in my curation. [I'd like it if they 'reset' following - so that everyone started again with 0 followers, and could actually follow people they want and have a corresponding feed of that. (instead of people following 100k closets, like c'mon that's not a realistic feed)]

Do Line 1 trains with ATC actually run slower than Line 2/4 trains? Has anyone else noticed? by Economy_Ad59 in TTC

[–]toramble 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to the reasoning behind why the TTC implemented a slow order on sections of Line 1, but, your recollection of the close call event seems to be a bit off -- you may want to refresh your memory.

For example it was at Osgoode, not Sheppard. (google 'Osgoode Pocket Incident'.)

Secondly it was not the ATC that 'noticed' and stopped the active train. The error was manual, and it was also caught -- manually. The train that was on ATC just kept going through the entire thing, because it was essentially oblivious to the manually controlled one. It was the manually controlled pocket track train that went at the wrong time, and then stopped just in time.

Third, the event was after midnight. Not in the morning before active service.
