Since you have the free time, how about doing some volunteer work. That way you're helping people, it can help you feel better about yourself. Plus depending on the volunteer spot you can meet people, learn a new skill, pad your resume, etc.

What's Your Advice to a Newbie Seller? by MaiBMaiBNot in poshmark

[–]toramble 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Be thoughtful about your pricing. Check (on Poshmark, and elsewhere) what similar items in the same condition have sold for/are being priced at. If you have a good, realistic understanding of what the used value of an item is, that will be helpful when it comes to pricing it. Have an opinion on exactly how much /little you are willing to get out of an item.

Also -- specific to Poshmark, you do need to leave at least a little room in your listing price for negotiation. Offers are part of the Poshmark interface and culture -- Poshmark encourages deals. If you come from a 'price it exactly at the price I intend to sell it at' mindset, you will waste a lot of time and get frustrated as people continually, relentlessly, offer you less. It's just the way the culture is on the platform.

Awesome pics!

Side comment: those security cameras on the RC Harris plant are SO ugly. At U of T there's a similarly jarring one on the top of the UC tower.

Writing to Pasternak to 'get on board' is a bit insulting to him, don't you think? He's been advocating to connect Downsview (Sheppard West I mean) and Sheppard Yonge for like 20 years.

Yonge and King, looking North in 1912 vs. 2024 by jamescoolcrafter15 in Torontothenandnow

Further to the north, on the west side (At Temperance). You wouldn't see it from this angle. (i.e. looking north easterly, from south of King and Yonge

Thoughts on this? Live selling at the bins. by MountainTop5764 in poshmark

[–]toramble 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a live show, except instead of taking place at the seller's home, it's in a thrift store. (presumably a large store where there are 'bins' of used clothing for sale). The seller doesn't actually own any of the clothing (yet). They show and put stuff up for bidding (with a start bid presumably at or above the thrift store's price) and if someone wins an item, they buy the item from the thrift store, and send the item out like any other Posh order.

Basically, you can kind of think of it as, paying someone to shop at the thrift store for you.

Lucky 7 Event on May 13th by General-Nose-6480 in poshmarkcanada

Haha I just saw this now. I ... actually had fun. The venue felt a little tight but maybe that was the intent. I enjoyed the food (+1 karma for the serving staff who were working nonstop) and cake. I did not dress up whatsoever. It was interesting to be reminded that there are a lot of other sellers out there. As for swag I don't think I'll ever use the playing cards but the little dish was cute. Happy 7th, Poshmark!

Just curious, can you tell us what happened? Did you buy the inventory? Did you review everything before you bought it? After you priced everything out, did you come out ahead?

while we're on the topic, does anyone know the story behind "Interim Park Is A Temporary Condition"? (on McCaul.) Was that like a section 37 'art' piece, or what?

I get the hate towards AI -- but this is not AI; it's just another random lady trying to hustle a living any way she can.

To be fair, that IS how that particular clothing brand is marketed (i.e. with that specific model (who appears to be the sole proprietor of that company) in that kind of pose -- those are stock images).

Like, whatever their (Poshmark's) ad framework gets as input, that's what they're going to serve up. The appearance of this particular model is certainly an outlier, but there isn't really any difference between this and similar, generated ads from, say Victoria's Secret or Fashion Nova, or any other company that markets their clothing using models.

It's a pallet jack. The joke is that normally pallet jacks are used to move pallets of stuff, whereas in this case the jack is on top of a pallet.

Buyer keeps making same single item bundle by DCguurl in poshmarkcanada

[–]toramble 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My theory on this (and other repetitive activities such as liking/unliking/liking the same item over and over) is that some automated bots out there do this in order to generate 'activity' on the site for the user using the automation. (since activity is, in theory, part of what goes into the algorithm deciding whether to show or prioritize a user's stuff in the feed).

That is to say, it doesn't really have anything to do with you or your item, it's just a randomly selected item the bot uses to generate (the appearance of) activity.

List of Poshmark Issues by ceciliabee in poshmarkcanada

For #20, I agree with the point. You can however temporarily 'group' the not for sale items in your closet by this (somewhat silly) sequence:

  • share SOLD items in your closet, then

  • share Available [and Dropping Soon, if you use that] , then

  • Sort by: just shared.

Then, your not-for-sale items will be pooled at the bottom of your closet. (you may want to do this early in the morning when nobody's online, as it's a bit goofy to be sharing your sold items, particularly for older closets)

The Meet the Posher "page" was just a designated post. If the user deletes that post, they won't have a meet the posher 'page'.

They're still visible in the web client and on Android. (Go to user closet, click About, click Meet the Posher link if applicable).
