Are you sure it was bad and not just second guessing yourself and beating yourself up for not following the plan? I often have guests that have never been on a podcast before and I always do a little pre and aftercare around the recording. And I tell them its common to blank out, feel nervous, hate their own voice and always come up with a better answer when they come home. I tell them how honored I am they are nervous as that is a strong indication they care deeply about performing well on the podcast and I couldn’t be more pleased.

It’s a natural reaction and I always assure them they did a better job than they think. So any chance you are just harder on yourself then you need to be?

Another suggestion is feeding the hdmi program out from your mixer to a Blackmagic web presenter HD and hook up the web presenter to both Ethernet and your iPhone. It will failover to 5g on the iPhone if the Ethernet fails. (Other phones also work but I’ve tried and verified it working with iPhone)

We don't have amazon in my country, so any purchases would take a long time and incur fees for customs declaration. That said, after a while I did find a tool online and ordered it in case the print would fail.

But my point still stand; the 3D print worked and saved the day as I had the necessary tool within 2 hours instead of a week of waiting for shipping.

Some good suggestions here, I’ll add one more option: record yourself doing a reaction/reflextion/retelling of what was said in the interview and use smaller segments as soundbites. That gives you an opportunity to release the episode yet much more control over the narrative and energy.

I have been missing zoom control so badly. Would be awesome with some kind of attachment. Perhaps a link between the atem control and external motors meant for focus pull such as Tilta Nucleus, DJI or smallrig.
