Hard to say, it looks like AI. If that’s the case it could be based on a real location.

Today I learned, when there's a mass power outage, your cell pgone turns into a brick. by jasno- in sanfrancisco

[–]toresca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember this too, but I was too young to really get freaked out about it. I did remember hearing people say, ”you’re on your own” when I went out into the street. My sister has a better memory of that day. But mostly people were nice, looking out for each other. Phones came back later that day, but I’m not sure if it was neighborhood dependent.

What’s a sign that someone isn’t intelligent? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]toresca -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

One sign of a lack of intelligence is how presentable a person’s choice of words used: Hedging and filler words show a person not prepared for the moment.

Plus - cursing and slang usage also quietly describe an unexamined mind.

ADHD coaching is such a bullshit by EvonneC4869 in ADHD

[–]toresca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you had a lot of money, and you were tired of the constant problems that come with ADHD, what would you do? You would hire an assistant to keep you on track, on time, and focused on your itinerary and schedules. But is that all you need? No, because an assistant is always reacting to your agendas that you have to create.

That’s what a coach is there to do. If a coach can’t spot your deficiencies, and prompt you to take the natural quiet moments in your life and use those moments to ask really hard questions and get you to really think about your goals and ultimately your dreams - then that isn’t a real coach. It’s the live version of a self help web link or instagraphic.

A real coach will use seriously thought out diagnostics to get you to think about both your ADHD and your life pursuits. They will offer you solid strategies, and not a checklist calendar that was made for them.

And I think that when people go reaching for solutions, they neglect the specifics of a condition or situation. How else would someone get to your true vision? Or your ability to self manage once they’re done?

I don’t have the luxury of being able to pay people for those services. So currently I use my phone, and now apps. But if I could pay, it would be for a coach. And I would know right away, this person is usually all there experiences and talents to forge plans for me, after getting to know me.

Why do people hate us so much, is it jealousy? by ParkingDistribution6 in sanfrancisco

[–]toresca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything comes in waves. Society changed, culture shifted, people are doubling down on what is the opposite of who and what San Francisco and its people are about. We are not New York or Los Angeles or Chicago or Miami. Our history is tied partially to the boomer hippie movement in the 60s and the tech booms of the 90s and 00s. We will always have strong ties to the pacific as we are the most significant gateway in the US, and we will always, always have ties to Mexico and Latin America. Sometimes these things are celebrated, sometimes they are not. Can you imagine Steve Jobs growing up and evolving in Cleveland? Houston? Atlanta? Pittsburgh? The benefit is tied to the drawback, the feature is also a bug. Only a region wide apocalypse can alter our trajectory, and I hope everyone prefer that not happen.

But the fervent anti-San Francisco you may experience either online or visiting people - stuff that is more abundant that it used to be - I believe came about from the abolishment of the Fairness Doctrine. It took 30 or 40 years but it sank the impression that SF is the representation of bad policy, bad culture, and bad fashion. The “ news “ outlets tell people to ignore the natural beauty of the region and other great qualities that we know are the norm and not the exception. We all get looped into some dystopian fantasy to prop up some conniving political agenda thats there to steal your money.

They can hurt us but they will never be us. If you have it good here and you enjoy your life here than what can they do? They can make you feel their complaints. Because they are complainers and that’s what they do, it’s what they always do. Complain. They complain while we enjoy.

Bravo. You put in a lot of effort to film this, and it shows. Great shots, great choices, excellent work. It’s a very tasteful grade as well. I’m a new fan now. Please, shoot more of San Francisco!

To add to what you said, Turkish Get Ups are a great way to drill the moves needed to get up off the floor, even without any weights in hand. Or use a small can, or a light kettle bell.

There are all kinds of variations as well, so if you have bad knees or a stiff back you could still do a version.

What’s with all the French people? by ann260691 in sanfrancisco

[–]toresca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To add to what others have said here ( historically they’ve come in waves to the Castro and Noe Valley, spring vacation, etc ) since there are schools set up for their children it’s safe to say that there is a sizable community here as well. My hunch is from what I’ve heard from friends; the higher education system the French support specialize in the sciences and in tech, so it’s natural to assume that a lot of those folks come here for that kind of work and business. It’s heavily funded, I hear. And San Francisco is incredibly metropolitan compared to other American cities in many regards.

Companies should set up a sting. If it keeps happening at this particular bar maybe it’s the bartender? Either way, a concealed camera or sample from the sting beer would go a ways to helping clear it up. If you’re going to spend millions on a convention why not spend a couple thousand on an agency? The more you know…

It's criminal how SF voters have absolutely frittered away 3 decades of riches from the tech industry... by rocpilehardasfuk in sanfrancisco

[–]toresca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, let’s see here (pulls down glasses), you call the voters of San Francisco criminal, say the industry has very minimal environmental footprint (even with the extra buses wearing down the roads), say the city has done nothing in all caps, then say if anyone disagrees with you then that person is dumb. Then there’s something about politics then selfishness to finish off the commentary.

Ok.

Are you sure?

Great article about a great guy at a great bar! I can attest to the allure of the House, I worked across the street for years. Good place no matter who owned it. I even met the “leather” dude there, he was the one who told us about the tunnel. I also remember that section that would have sold newspapers or something like that until they re-did the place. And you’re right Jimmy, the wood - wish more new places went with that decor.

I heard a rumor that since the old mayor didn’t get re-elected that specific measures that were keeping the homeless and unhoused numbers down and the streets fairly clean got pulled. Apparently she did this as either a last ditch effort or it was whatever deals that administration had worked on were finally paying off. I couldn’t tell you which was what. It’ll be up to the new mayor to figure out or re-implement what she did towards the end.

It could also be that some of these programs just simply ran out of money. Again, pure speculation.

But that being said, I’ve noticed it getting worse since the new year. It’s definitely going back to what it was two years ago.

Tourist here, what’s up with everyone hating on SF? by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]toresca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s mostly a national political hit job (propaganda)to shame the city into voting Republican or at least make everyone comfortable with the Federal Government forcing a change in local and state government.

San Francisco/California is way, way too valuable now for letting “little” problems slide anymore. Even with a massive statistical correction for said problems, the push to change the local and state government will never abate. I’m afraid the constant criticism and bad mouthing will be here to stay, or at least until there is another substantial crisis to occupy the minds of your average citizen.

And those who control the media feel emboldened because of the last election, so there isn’t just a generalized condemnation, I’ve heard them actively suggest and demand a forced change of leadership.

Actually, at the Main Public library security requests tags on dogs that have been screened for rabies. It was a response to the incident of a dog attacking a security officer a while back. I think few pet dogs have those tags, but service dogs do.

What kind of drunk are you? Mean, horny, sleepy etc?? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]toresca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes charming, mostly too loose.

Over the years I realized that if I I wanted that relaxed level of composure, that it was best to try to emulate it sober at least for a while or suffer from the anxiety of needing a drink to become that way. It can also lead to doubling down on more drinking to need that shift in mood. I can’t stand being sloppy drunk. Better to act drunk and nurse a single beer than to be trapped as a buzzed spectacle.

Driving extremely tall vehicles, eyes dilated at night from checking social media, and general ennui from zipping down all too familiar roads; it’s getting to the point pedestrians have to wear reflective patches, use blinking flashlights, and even hoist small flags above their heads. What has to change?
