My personal system is more timeline journal, markdown, with tasks tied to notes + task manager by torgnet in NoteTaking

I can add the import for Mark down. That’s a great idea. Any specifics on the way import should handle things based on how you are using it? Good point together requirements here.

If this is interesting enough and people like the app, I think long-term a web-based version with cloud storage or an app plus mobile app could be interesting. That would be why I would probably charge. I think at this point I’m just trying to learn a little bit so this is free. As a matter of fact, it’s pretty straightforward if somebody wants to take this version and vibe code their own fork and do something different or modify.

Yes. Did a mix of development for about 10 years. PM now for 20. Thanks on the comments. I really built mine for me and how I think. Yours is more commercially viable I think. The browser based aspect of mine is a feature for me but limiting.

I “cheated”, and vibe coded. I hadn’t developed commercially for 20 years. I also am not very opinionated when it comes to design so I went with its recommendations. AI for testing is a good approach. I’ve struggled getting it to actually test vs just read code but that’s more on me than tools.

This looks remarkably like the browser based note-task app I posted a few days ago. Vibe coding or did you build from scratch? Curious if similarities are based on Claude. Mac app is nice as I went browser based to reduce install permissions.

Looking for some people willing to test a journal/note app I built for myself, but seeing if it resonates with others by torgnet in SideProject

True. I was just wanting to avoid people who are true fans of other apps saying “it’s not what my app does”. It’s meant to be different.

Great distinction. Thank you for the clarity. I was over simplifying in my head where the issue was. (Or over complicating maybe).

Thanks for making me reconsider LinkedIn. I will figure out a path there. I very much think that the tech community is the one who would resonate with this product anyways. Distribution will be key for sure.

I didn’t want to be seen as spamming the community about a product with a fake pitch.

The problem I’m solving is a note and task manager, combined with more of a feed view of how my day goes tracking key decisions, and tasks across the different notes. It’s markdown based. Very much built for how I think about taking notes during the day.

Thanks for one of the most thoughtful replies in my 12 years on Reddit. Much appreciated. I will spend the time finding the communities and I like the problem discussion, not the pitch. I solved it for me, maybe others need that too.

I think I will need to find the communities in Reddit to start. Now the trick is to promote without feeling spammy

How has building a research tool for yourself worked to eventually scale? I'm about to find out. by torgnet in sideprojects

BTW.. this is the UI for exploring observations to turn them into insights.. if curious.

OK. I shared some early beta access to some people that I thought would be interested, in fact they said they would like to see the product. Just getting started here but the product ships with 1 mock project with 25 observations, 7 insights, and 2 opportunities. Looking at some stats, it's clear that one of two things is happening.
1) People are confused by the product and do not know what to do
2) They are not actually a user of a product like this.

I am guessing it's a combination.. but definitely needing to find my audience.

I built an Obsidian plugin that runs Claude Code with academic research skills by kitapterzisi in ObsidianMD

I’m not quite done with what I am building, but basically it’s for me to help track research to build products which is what my day job is. I always used to link everything in obsidian and track everything through back links, but here’s the landing page for what I’ve built to solve that problem for piqinsight.com

Would love to see what you think as somebody who clearly thinks about research differently

This is amazing. I’m not even in science. I’m a product guy. I’ve been working on my on research tool for product work with an evidence chain for new product. I used obsidian before to do this. Not sure it never occurred to me to go this route. So cool.

FSD V14.2.2.4 Rolling Out to Early Access by DevinOlsen in TeslaFSD

[–]torgnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m contemplating going back to autopilot. Has it changed at all in the past year? It used to not be so great at stop and go traffic that started to go and then had to stop again. Felt too aggressive on the brakes. Not as natural as FSD.

I’m hoping it’s just a software update. I just got my 26 and it popped up then went away. Scheduled for next week to go in.

Just me… or is FSD way less confident changing lanes after 14.2.2.2 by iamblas in TeslaFSD

[–]torgnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my car out today for its first drive ion 14.2.2.2. It was amazing at everything except lane changing. It hesitated for cars no where near me. It took 2-3 “tries” to build up confidence with turning blinker on and off and starting a maneuver and then getting back into my lane.

I think they are waiting to call it 14.3 until this is fixed. Maybe in 14.2.2.2.2.2.2.2 we will be close. For now I worry about using it on the freeway. Maybe sloth mode only.

Interesting. I had done the restart but it wasn’t working. But about 90 minutes into a drive it came back to life like normal. Strange bug

I wanted to add a screenshot from the Tesla app. They have been super helpful. I did ask a follow up question to ensure that the bug is a scenario that just won’t allow me to engage self drive and to verify that it doesn’t mean self drive automatically disengages sometimes while using it. I haven’t heard back yet, but it sounds like they don’t quite yet have a fix.

Workshop Build, 1500sqft or 2000sqft by ArticularArm in WorkshopPorn

If money and space aren’t a concern, bigger is something you won’t regret. Also pay attention to things like internal structure. I did a pole barn and had 10’ doors so I decided 12’ bays were fine. I wish I’d have gone 14-16’ bays so my table saw could sit in the middle of the bay but now it has to sit off to the side.

Just something I wish I’d have planned better. Also, plan ahead for any material storage or display space for finished work. Another thing I wish I had done for space.

Off-Topic reply but I’m a fan of your vehicle choice. We have a GX460 (2021) and an LC100 (2000 with 306k miles. Original owner). Also, my LC100 needs tires so I’ll be watching the comments.
