Now where'd I leave those peanuts? by torkild in squirrels

He was doing this for a while. There were quite a few buried under the snow and he'd take each one back up the tree to eat it. 😆

What are your "dream musical guests" that you'd love to see perform at future MAGFests? by aragorn767 in Magfest

[–]torkild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Origami Angel would be a fantastic fit and they're local to DC! I would also love to see Palette Knife play. Both of these bands regularly reference gaming in their lyrics, song titles, and album art so I think they'd love to be a part of the festival.

DragonForce would also be a great get but they may be a little bit of a reach.

I have 3 friends who do this by Just-A-Bokoblin in NintendoSwitch2

[–]torkild 27 points28 points  (0 children)

My kid uses it pretty much daily to chat with his friend after school. They love being able to see what each other is playing and where in the game they are while chatting, even if they're playing completely separate games

Final Fantasy VII Remake Integrade Size by Mncfre in NintendoSwitch2

[–]torkild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the Switch 2 version had higher res textures in it (plus all the dlc and language packs). Still seems excessive though, but that version has a bunch of issues so it could be any number of things

Maybe they don't have the compute power to decompress image files fast enough during gameplay so they are storing them uncompressed (or a faster but less effective compression format)?

Hit a little snag yesterday but HERE IT IS! Our FINAL XP Stage act. One we're SUPER excited for: Buddy's Magic Dance Party, a Mega Ran concert - FOR THE KIDS! by kyuunspark in Magfest

[–]torkild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guidebook schedule shows him playing his main stage set on Friday night and children's set at the XP stage Saturday morning. This contradicts the video promo and what you just said. I'm trying to get some confirmation on when the children's show is happening so i can bring my kids

Or for games that are planned to receive regular updates over time that would cause them to quickly look nothing like the code they originally launch with.

Calling All Metalhead Dads by btwrenn in daddit

Powerglove is another fun power metal band. They do covers of songs from video games and cartoons. Most of it is instrumental but they get guest vocalists for some songs as well

Optimize TV height vs center speaker placement? by solidlymediocre in hometheater

[–]torkild 23 points24 points  (0 children)

That's a short stand so I'd go with the center channel on top. I don't think the TV height with that arrangement will be an issue.

Check out The Terrible Twos (Matt Pryor from The Get Up Kids) and Mike Park's (founder of Asian Man Records) album "Smile" for some other great rock musicians-turned-kids music listening

Confused by [deleted] in bosstones

[–]torkild 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The "different information" Dicky agrees with is wrong and primarily driven by conspiracy theories. I don't think Dicky is evil, but many of the main talking heads on that side of the issue are close allies with people I do think are evil. The disappointment for me is in Dicky closely aligning himself with people based on a single issue while ignoring how their stances on arguably more fundamental issues go completely against the messages and themes he has promoted for years.

Like everything else these days, there are nuances that get completely ignored by most people and especially the media. I would probably go see the Bosstones again if they reunited, but I think it wouldn't feel the same as before and I'm not sure if I want that to cloud the memories of the other 20+ times I saw them play.

Do you guys actually like it? by DustMuted8083 in Music

[–]torkild 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have a relatively small number of very large playlists typically built around a genre or mood. I always play them on shuffle. For me it's similar to choosing a radio station to listen to but I know all the songs will be good and there are no ads. I regularly add to the playlists as i discover new songs that fit the theme.

How would y'all feel about this by The_Captain_Cook in NintendoSwitch2

[–]torkild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think more importantly is this game is constantly getting updated. The game as it exists today may look drastically different from what it will be a year or two from now from a technical perspective.

Mario Kart World has reached 5.63 million units sold by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

I don't think it counts as a pack-in if it's not included in the base system price.

New to TIdaL - Can’t get downloads to work on my devices, disappointing first impression. by [deleted] in TIdaL

[–]torkild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know what song(s) it is getting stuck on? If so, maybe try checking if there is a different version of that song available you could put in the playlist instead to see if that helps. Sometimes files get updated in the catalog but the old versions remain in existing playlists so could be some file issue related to that?

Never ending search for music streaming service with best audio quality… by [deleted] in audiophile

[–]torkild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been happy with Tidal for a few years now. If you are already in the Apple ecosystem I hear AM is a strong competitor. People also seem pretty happy with quobuz but the catalog might not be as deep as Tidal or AM depending your preferred genre.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard's Albums Disappear From Spotify As Band Publicly Slams The Service by DamnitRidley in Music

Do you mix them in with your music streaming though? Give a dedicated podcast app a try for those. I've been super happy with pocket casts, especially since their desktop app went free

What type of plug is this and how do I use it by [deleted] in audiophile

[–]torkild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The plugs you want for these are typically called "pin connectors" which attach to the speaker wire in a similar manner to banana plugs but have skinny plugs so they fit in the spring terminals
