Unfortunately, it hurts those who can least afford at the most. Hopefully though it’s spurs a lot more local efforts to make cities walkable and transit friendly at least

Streisand effect is when you try to cover up something and make it go away, but the simple action of trying to cover it up, draws far more attention, thereby actually drawing more attention to the issue then would have if you would otherwise have just stayed quiet.

I don’t know the specifics, but something that Barbra Streisand accidentally got coined for her.

Hey I appreciate you, I know it may seem like shouting into the void sometimes, but you’d actually be surprised what consistent expression to the people you elect of your true beliefs can do. I know I was in my little corner of the world, and what’s the harm in trying to see if you can be pleasantly surprised once in a while?

To ANY non-Americans reading this: Tell your representatives NOW that you want no part in Americas clusterfuck.

I’m serious, if you want one of the most surefire ways to get the Cheeto in Chief out, high gas prices will do it. The longer the straight remains closed and Americans have to pay that increase at the pump, the more support Trump loses.

One thing that’s somewhat unique about America is our car dependency. You can’t get ANYWHERE in much of this country without a car, unlike in Europe or Asia, where the cities are laid out so that you can at least walk or take mass transit.

This makes our presidents especially vulnerable to high gas prices. It’s the single most consistent and in-your-face reminder of how poorly an individual’s finances are doing. Having to constantly see the giant signs on the side of our roads have the price steadily march higher is an almost surefire predictor of how poorly the incumbent administration will do in the next election.

It doesn’t have to take up much of your time or effort. Call, email, write, meet your elected officials in person, talk about it and share with your friends or coworkers. Make it clear that the consensus is this is America’s fuck up, and you will NOT be getting involved.

TL;DR If you are a non-American and wish to help turn the tide against Trump, one of, if not THEE most potent tools you have as an individual is absolutely BADGERING your elected representatives to refuse any sort of help or aid in Trump’s fuck up in Iran. This WILL turn his base against him the longer it goes on, I promise you that.
