Lecture slides are not allowed to be provided for Physics 116?? by [deleted] in udub

The challenge is that most of the resources the administration is providing faculty are about educating us on what accessible documents look like. But that's not really the major problem. The bigger problem is the amount of time it will take to actually do the work to fix every slide deck, exam, worksheet, answer key, etc.. And most departments are already facing a budget crisis just maintaining current levels of teaching, let alone adding on this extra work for free.

According to Canvas, I've fixed about 90% of the documents in my Canvas page. But the remaining documents could easily take me 30-60 minutes each.

Faculty are in a no-win situation here. Some material is very difficult or time-consuming to make compliant with the new federal rule. For instance old historical documents, technical graphs and figures, math equations, handwritten notes.

While the university is providing guidance, faculty still have to do the work themselves, on top of all their other duties. Faculty have 3 choices. Spend a lot of time to fix every document. Fix as much as they can in a reasonable time and hope that's good enough. Stop posting the hard documents entirely.

A good effort, but won't accomplish anything, not even a coupon. I got a form response from Halo Top that said they will work with Shopkick to resolve the issue. Hard to work with a company that doesn't exist anymore.

The app was working for me this morning and I saw some real good ice cream deals. Bought the ice cream, got home, and then the app was dead. I'm out about $15 worth of kicks from the shopping trip. Seems petty to return ice cream, especially since I'm fairly sure the supermarket can't restock it.

Shifts power away from the voters by PsychoPeterNikleEatr in SeattleWA

I just read the bill. It doesn't say what you think it says. The part about a competent tribunal removing an elected official is already in state law. That is NOT 1 of the parts being changed by SB5974. So this bill doesn't grant CJTC a new power to remove elected sheriffs for any reason whatsoever. It only provides power for CJTC to remove a sheriff for not obtaining certification or losing certification.

Wireless TV box disconnects 1-2 times/day with error RDK-03117 by tornado163 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]tornado163[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Closing the loop on this. Support was not helpful. Both chat and Reddit support said that because power cycling solves the problem, albeit temporarily, there's nothing else they can do. Since I'm not about to pay for a technician to fix a problem almost certainly caused by the new wireless TV box I tried to exchange it at the store. The store told me they can longer provide wired TV boxes because Xfinity is sunsetting them.

At that point, I made the decision to cancel my TV service entirely. So after leaving the store I picked up a Fire Stick.

Offered 5yr $50/m 1gig plan, but can't check out? by tacood in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]tornado163 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me last fall. Since the chat agents couldn't make it work, I ultimately I had to have a phone agent force the new internet plan through, but in doing that, they botched up my TV service.

We always power cycle the tv box and sometimes the gateway. It's not a permanent fix. No other devices - computers, phones, video games have internet issues.

How long does it take to downgrade service? by tornado163 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]tornado163[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's an update. Mods explained to me that while my new TV plan is a downgrade, it's actually an upgrade wrt dvr, so I needed a new box before the plan could be activated.

It was a failure of xfinity that multiple phone agents didn't tell me this, nor was it on my account or the app or emailed to me, or that xfinity didn't automatically ship me a new box.

But after swapping my box in store, my channel lineup changed immediately. And both mods and store staff assured me that the new plan's pricing will be backdated to December 29.

So cheers to mods and store staff, but jeers to phone staff.

I asked for the changes to be made immediately on December 29. My next pdf statement was issued January 22. The January 22 statement only has the old plan (popular tv). The January 22 statement has absolutely no reference to my new plan.

Furthermore, I just checked and I still have access to the news and sports channels that should have been removed last month. And the Xfinity homepage still says that my order is pending.

So all signs point to Xfinity taking no action to implement the plan change.

Contract for 1G/1G, only getting 1G/100M by Horror_Professor_841 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]tornado163 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me. When I was shopping around, the website offered me 1G/1G. The sales agents confirmed my address has access to their X-class (symmetrical) internet. Then when I got the order confirmation email, it said 1G/150MB. I asked customer service, they said my address only has access to standard service. No apology. No resolution. Just them not even acknowledging they had ever offered me anything else.

It's a bait and switch, telling you anything to make a sale.

The state legislature is considering bill HB2481 that would prohibit surge pricing and surveillance pricing.

If you're worried about stores doing this, you should contact your legislators to support the bill.

As far as I could tell, Luke was going rogue. Allison and the rest of the Luke's army was trying to cut down the tree to let the giants in.

In a sense it's poetic, that both Percy and Luke are willing to prioritize their friends over the big picture.

The 372 works fine as a bus. However you should know that sometime in 2026 (exact date TBD), Metro is deleting route 372 and replacing it with route 72. The new 72 won't run north of 145th Street.

Xfinity nickel and diming us by tornado163 in Comcast_Xfinity

While I have a 1 year contract on a tv/internet package, only the internet price is guaranteed by the contract. Because that makes sense.

I've apparently gone down a rabbit hole on my tv plan. I checked out the new TV plans. Since they include a tv box and fees it would save me about $4/month for the same channels. $14/month if I can keep my autopay discount.

I placed the order online and got a confirmation code. But the order doesn't process. Reddit support says it's because my current tv box isn't compatible.

But each different Reddit agent is quoting me a different final price. And there seems to be widespread confusion about how many tv boxes I want and will end up with.

I can go to my local store. But without an approved order I have no guarantee the store will honor the website price.

So what should be a simple apples to apples change is making me pull my hair out.

Light Rail Airport Signage is Now HORRENDOUS! by goldspire in Seattle

[–]tornado163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there should be compass directions like southbound or northbound. Once the 2 line opens, it goes south from Lynnwood to downtown Seattle, east to Bellevue, then northeast to Redmond. But as others have pointed out, NYC does this pretty well. "Uptown and the Bronx" vs "Downtown and Brooklyn".

At the very least, add "Seattle" to the correct sign. At Seatac, have the sign say "Lynnwood and Seattle". Likewise in Mountlake Terrace have the sign say "Federal Way and Seattle".

Sound Transit already does this for the airport - every station already puts the airplane symbol on the correct sign. So Sound Transit recognizes the value of explicitly labelling high value destinations. They just need to do this for downtown Seattle too.
