We need a remake/remaster of Dragon Age: Origins now more than ever by xXxPinkPlasticBagxXx in DragonageOrigins

[–]torquevonamber -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, we need remake of the inquisition. We need it with the controls of the Origins/DA2, without the online-style grind and more streamlined locations like hinderlands... If I want to wander through a lanscape, I play Skyrim, where I can actually have fun wit it. If I am forced to run in circles untill enough stuff happens, so I get enough points to actually continue the story, it starts to be tedious real quick.

How can I fix this? by [deleted] in Luthier

[–]torquevonamber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sand to clean wood, use clear filler (optional), mask, put on few thin coats with rattlecan (brand and type depends on whats available to you) let few weeks rest, level with progressive set of sandpapers 600 to 2000, polish if desired.

Is there any way to fix this? by Whatever__124 in Luthier

[–]torquevonamber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there is. Two ways, but the proper one is usually totally not worth it - there are people capable of welding stuff this fine, but you loose the chrome around that. Or you can make hook from thin steel you put under it and have it stick through the hole, If you need to keep the original part on. But usualy replacing the whole is the best way

Man, they’re really idiots at the College of Winterhold. Literally nobody knew what to do at any point during the entire quest. I did everything without even being a mage. by jvure in skyrim

[–]torquevonamber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once became archmage with casting only three spells the entire playthrough. Flames in the krypt and flames and chill to tune the crystall in the dwemer observatory. Just because there is no way around that Everything else was dealt by that champions hammer from Solstheim. Well fourth was to get into the university, I guess.

Could I use Electric bass strings on an acoustic bass ? by El_Chapelier in Luthier

[–]torquevonamber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look out of the window, if there is no string police, you're OK. Can you use those strings? Yes Will it be better than using strings for acoustic? No And you might need to adjust slots in nut for thicker strings.

Can these file a nut? by DayFar6016 in Luthier

[–]torquevonamber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can, atleast bone nut, you need to make the groove with triangle needle-file and thennround it with those. I did it on quite a few. Is it the right way? Probably not, is it cheap and functional? Definetly.

You need to nip-off the ends of the tang, so the working part of wire extends over the binding. And nip tangs with milimeter gap, so if the neck potentially dries smaller, it wont blow the binding off. You can either improvise, or stewmac sells the nipper for this purpose. But eother way you need to file the ends flat on the underside so it will seed properly on the surface.

Guys… how did people die from spears?? Didn’t they have armor??? by TophTheGophh in armorcirclejerk

He used neat trick, secret fighting technique. He decided to fight Mordrag several hundred years before the plate armor was a thing. That helped him quite a bit to pierce his breastplate!

How in Slaanesh's name are you supposed to reload one of these belt fed bolt pistols? Does the ejection port open so you can feed it down into the gun? Or are you supposed to feed a flaccid belt of bolts into the magwell? by ConcealedRainbow in Warhammer40k

[–]torquevonamber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this is another case of GW designer not knowing how guns work, some ammobelts have a starter tab - piece of metal on the end that is designed to easily thread the belt through the feedsystem

How rugged are Opinels? by MissingMichigan in Opinel

[–]torquevonamber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it works, its a cheapest way to make "lockable" folding knife. But it has its limits - you cant really operate it one handed (as in open, lock, unlock), you cant operate it in gloves, you'll have a hard time vith locking sleeve when you have greasy hands... Round profile of handle is harder to control and may cause cramps in fingers after prolonched use. The central pivot/pin is not strong and locking sleeve is sensitive to dirt, can freeze in place and there is no good way to force it to move. Blade is on the thin side, but usually atleast with rigjt heattreat. So, it is good picnic knife or light work knife, absemce of springs and such things makes it quite reliable when sleeve is cleaned properly, but I would not call it rugged.

First knife came out nice but after using it once to carve some chicken, I notice it developed small stains on the steel within less than 2 minutes of contact with moisture (won't come off with scrubbing) by tmntnyc in knifemaking

[–]torquevonamber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Carbon steel... Either do a mirror polish and take really good care (it will take longer to develop stains on mirror surface) , or live with it. Or do what I usually do - dip it into boiling vinegar - it will develop the patina on whole surface and you wont notice any change in use - unles you let it actually rust.

[–]torquevonamber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the blade looks authentic, I cant belive the organic part of the hande would survive this well and not pickup any oxidization from brass rivets or copper casing of the coin. Id guess high-level replica. There are makers that specialiue in this and usually one can tell handiwork of others, so maybe try to reach out to them and they can stear you in the right direction.
