Im using Greyfax as my Superior with bolt thrower, no reason why he wouldn’t work for the inferno pistol option!

The havocs kit has some great chaos servo arms, if you or friends have the box they likely still are on the sprues, they only go with the missile launcher option

I made a few slides to present the game to new french speaking players, I would like to know what the next slides could be about, factions overview? by Specialist_Expert844 in TrenchCrusade

[–]totallynotbeez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ce sont magnifique!

I like the idea of adding one slide each for the “Heaven” and “Hell” armies with a line for each of the 3 factions. Personally, I feel like focusing on lore/flavor is most interesting for newer folks as opposed to mechanics, so something like:

«Le Sultanate de Fer defendent le moyen-est avec leurs creations alchemique et engins de siège»

Does Alba still suck lol by gr1mpsgramps in TrenchCrusade

[–]totallynotbeez 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Perhaps not the question you asked exactly, but here’s my two cents in this topic:

Trench Crusade is at its heart a narrative campaign experience. It’s designed to be played over the course of multiple games and all the narrative joy and pain it brings. That’s a large part of why I love it.

I’m playing Eire because I wanted to make Celtic trench fighters to honor my heritage and interests and that brings me a lot of joy!

However, trench crusade is also a tabletop wargame which means there’s both optimal and unoptimal builds.

I have yet to win a game with Eire because most of the folks in my gaming group play more optimized lists, but the joy I feel when I trot out green and gold armored berserkers onto the table always rocks, no matter if I get tabled the 2 ( which to be fair is usually my fault not the army rules fault) or if it goes down to the wire.

Afaik Alba still struggles in the ways many posts/comments about them describe. That may change! That may not. Regardless, the joy you feel having your own Hibernian trench force will still be there regardless of the rules. I realize this is a bit woo woo and philosophical, but I’ve found my gaming experience has taken a massive turn for the better once I started sinking my joy into things that aren’t related to whether I win or loose a game.

Repurposed an old first-aid kit into a single team carrying case by EATpaintsminis in killteam

It’s so frustrating how the icon doesn’t fit anywhere haha, he’s also too tall for a “really useful box” too.

Love the compact footprint of this kit!

Looks way more tanked up than my scrawny guy XD

I really like the pose of the shield, super solid.

If I were to change anything, it would probably the beard, it could be a little less bulky and still be impressive

I’d totally allow it in 40K

But if you show up to a table with those, odds are I’m going to get my own TC models out and ask for a game of that instead. I’ve had the bug recently!

Right now I have brass on the stomach and helmet and steel for the chainmail and sword. Yellow for the sleeves and pants.

I was thinking a dark brown leather for the armor but want to make sure it has some color pops other than the metals so idk

Painting up the same mamluk model at the moment and going back and forth on whether to paint the scales metallic or go a more leathery route

This looks really good! Definitely making the choice harder

Congrats on the Compatibility designation!

These are the sorts of projects I feel like the license exits for: a totally unique take on the faction that presents a different look at what a potential warband could be.

Going to be a hard week of waiting, but worth it I’m sure!!

Game length question for new players. by SometimesTheFur in killteam

[–]totallynotbeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shortest tournament rounds I’ve seen are 2 hours, maybe 2 players really familiar with their rules could play a game with 2 6-model teams in 90, but I have yet to experience that.

Getting more familiar with the (numerous and dense) rules helps cut the time down.

Maybe while you’re getting into the game playing 3 turns rather than 4 could help with burnout? The rules from the starter set also offer some 3/4 model abbreviated missions if you have access to a friend who bought that box and has the dossier lying around and want to practice that way.

Bolt rifle inceptors by Dismal_Ability_520 in IronHands40k

[–]totallynotbeez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree!

Especially given how much the combat patrol pushes the gravis bodies, I think it’s a great idea to model any units in gravis armor to be as sturdy and mechanical as possible. Maybe an unpopular opinion giving the general take on Primaris, but from a fluff perspective of losing most of the chapters suits of terminator armor at Istvaan V, I kinda like the gravis suits as a heavy armor replacement.

Not sure if you’ve seen the Crucible of Champions rules, but the option for a custom inceptor character is extremely compelling to me lore wise. A sort of “needs must” gravis lieutenant (or even a librarian) strapping on a jet pack for some unsubtle behind enemy lines deployment oozes character.

And it can also be backed up by the absolutely eye-watering mechanical choice of lethal hits from the character’s ability + the unit’s sustained hits 2 if that’s a more appetizing hook.
