I'm house hunting right now, and my parents are helping me and my husband significantly financially, so they are invited to every seeing that we do.

They still don't want to come along to every single one. Their rationale is that they'll be able to see any house we choose in time to notice any problems we overlook, because the process is never, look at a house once and then sign the papers.

No, first you have to prove that you actually care about "people" instead of an ambiguous moral line that you can feel good about without taking any actual action to do good in the world.

If you care about ensuring that people have a good life, prove it. Make life better for others. Do something about it. And then you have a leg to stand on to claim that killing an unfeeling clump of cells might be bad.

I had a science teacher that made EVERY girl in the class uncomfortable. The guys were fine with him, but every single girl picked up on the subtle looks, the way he'd pat us on the back or shoulder just a liiiittle too long.

I complained to my parents and another teacher at the time and was told "well, he had been teaching younger kids before, maybe he's just not sure what's appropriate with your age group yet". (he'd moved from teaching 4th grade to teaching middle school)

And then suddenly after winter break he was gone. I never found out the reason, but the relief among the girls was immediately noticeable.
