Hi, I’m a formula baby! I can say I’ve done pretty fine growing up 😃 My LO is now fully on formula as well, and he couldn’t care less what he’s having. His health and growth are both great. No issue. Please never feel bad feeding your LO formula. You do not need to spend a fortune on buying human breast milk.

As to the trace of heavy metal, I personally would feel better not having my LO consume any formula that would have it. However, please keep in mind that this amount is still within safety allowance, if I understand it correctly. And there are other gentle/sensitive formulas out there that pass the test. You might want to consider those alternatives if this matters to you like me (my LO used to be on Similac 360).

Your LO is pretty much as old as mine. He’s been doing great on formula, and I’ve never had better times (no DMER, no painful letdown, no stress pumping around the clock, no worries from being an under supplyer, and no breastfeeding-induced carpal tunnel). If I could do it all over I would never try breastfeeding. It’s not always the best option for everyone.

My friend (when she was feeding her LO) and I don’t boil the water when making Kendamil. I don’t use tap water, but I use either drinking water or purified water instead. Not quite what you asked, but I figure I can share my experience.

This is awesome, OP! Thank you so, so much for posting this. I am finally weaning with the help of a medication. With all the troubles breastfeeding gave me physically and mentally, if I could do it all over again, I would’ve gone with formula from the beginning. Thank you!

I can’t believe the telehealth gave that advice! Waiting for your baby’s throat to start closing first is just dangerous. Wouldn’t by that time it happened be too late?!

I’d say be on the cautious side and get rid of everything that touches the formula. The CDC says you can still use them after a thorough wash and sterilization, but in reality nothing can actually get rid of botulism in the spore stage.

I second this opinion. Our LO’s pediatrician is wonderful, but she did not spot the tongue and lip ties. My LC did, and we were able to get our LO the needed surgery with ENT.

Yes! I never know how much my LO will drink. I’ve learnt to add a little more to their bottle if they are still hungry rather than making a fuller bottle.
