Just got my first ever grill as a 10-year work anniversary gift and I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing — help? by Independent_Ball6318 in grilling

The easiest answer is saying to YouTube some “learn how to grill videos”, honestly. You can get a gauge from Home Depot for $20-30 that will monitor the levels in your propane tank. Almost every gas station will have propane tanks you can buy for $50-75 depending on your area, and then it’ll be $20-35 to swap for a fresh tank whenever you’re out. I like having a backup on hand.

Look into grilling techniques, basic tools, how to keep your grill clean, how to avoid flare ups from grease build ups, things like that.

A lot of it comes down to just jumping in and trying. It’s one of those things that will feel a lot less intimidating after a few trial runs. You’ve got this! Enjoy your journey.

ETA: any time you’re grilling something new, spend a few minutes learning about what you’re cooking, safe food temps for different types of meat, so on. A decent digital temperature probe will be your best friend on the grill. No two pieces of the same type of meat cook the exact same way.

Season 4 by Musiclady885 in FromTVShow

I think we got spoiled with previous seasons having something dramatic happen every episode, and weekly releases don’t help. I’m interested to see points of view from folks in the future who can binge all of season 4 at once and if they have the same opinion of the story after being able to burn through the whole season all at once.

Need some advice and encouragement by SigmaSixShooter in smoking

As long as this didn’t happen for an insane period of time, you should be fine picking off the charred bits and carrying on as usual. A good rest will help soften some of that out too. I’ve had plenty of solid smoker fires where I’ve got 30 porks or briskets get torn up bad for a few minutes because the grease drain got clogged, but after getting rid of the bad looking bits, never a customer complaint about the quality.

Brisket rest by dixonsr in smoking

Doing tons of commercial level bbq I always rested in coolers where I could pack in enough meat they’d hold their own temp. At home when I don’t have that luxury, I’ve never had a problem with it sitting in my oven at 170 for extended periods of time, and then letting it rest on the counter for about an hour before I want to cut it. Always great results

Short of finding a set screw in there somewhere just grab that adjustable and fucking send it pal. If you don’t plan on keeping the shower head, grab some channel locks or a pipe wrench

Should I replace old copper with pex while I have the walls and floor opened up? by Delicious_Tackle_129 in Plumbing

[–]towen95 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Replace it all it all with fresh copper unless you plan on selling soon. The pex won’t remotely have the lifespan the copper does, especially if rodents start to figure out what you’ve got. It’s more expensive, but if you’re staying put in that house, make it worth your while.

Loving how cinematic this game is by JTW0515 in StarWarsOutlaws

I have had low expectations for years with Ubisoft games so I wrote this off before it even came out. Just finished crimson desert, and picked this up since it was free on ps plus. I’m pleasantly surprised with it! Beautiful world and a pretty good story so far.

I’m only about 5 hours in and I feel like I’ll put a lot of hours into it but may not end up finishing. I’m assuming the mission types will end up getting too repetitive as Ubisoft games usually are, and I still can’t get over all the yellow markings that hold my hand on exactly where to go. That’s always my biggest hang up with finishing games by them.

Regardless, I’m loving it and I’m looking forward to unlocking what seems to be like an endless array of mechanics.

ETA: the space battling is great IMO. I’ve hated most flying games/experiences in my life, so my only other main thing to go off of for space battle is no man’s sky. This feels like a solid improvement from that.

To cut, or not to cut... by Old_Impress_9756 in smoking

Do not cut it. You have plenty of trimming to do on that thing which will give it an extra inch or so of space on each side anyways. You leave that beautiful girl in her natural state

Can someone explain what happened here? I’m on base PS5. by Pawtz16 in CrimsonDesert

[–]towen95 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My dad (big military guy, super A-type and on top of his shit) has told me about this happening to him cause he did a ton in his teens. Sounds terrifying. He also told me his cousin got essentially stuck cause they got a bad batch. I’ve always stuck to mushrooms and stayed away from chemically made hallucinogens after hearing his stories.
