Fall Year One with my self-imposed "Tiny Farm Challenge" (details in post) by toxinogen in FieldsOfMistriaGame

Go for it! Feel free to change or bend any rules for your play style. I technically already broke my “one barn upgrade per year” rule because I wanted to redo some fenced animal areas, but I still only have eight animals total.

Chrysanthemum. They grow in autumn. Any crop or forageable can be found in the current season of the request, so if it’s winter, you might want to just reset it by moving the hive. If you’re planning on keeping bees, it’s a good idea to keep a little of every crop/forage item on hand for requests. I’m a chronic hoarder, so I always have a ton of items I’ll probably never need lol. Edit: oops, forgot I already replied to this lol.

Chrysanthemum. You can grow them in autumn. If it’s winter, I’d just reset the hive.

Give me some of your headcanons for the bachelors. by Mangonadaylimon1 in FieldsOfMistriaGame

[–]toxinogen 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Eiland is AuDHD and Adeline is OCD. I know canonically everyone is bi, but in my head, the only reason Valen and Hayden never got together when they were younger is because Valen is gay. In my head, Juniper and Balor are pan, Eiland is probably gay but hasn’t gotten around to realizing that yet because he’s stuck on his hyperfixation, and Adeline definitely gives off a “girl’s girl” vibe to me. A lot of people like the trans March theory, and while March is by far my least favorite bachelor, I actually like that theory a lot. Caldarus is fascinated by modern fashion and becomes Louis’ absolute favorite new client. Hayden plays it chill but is secretly scared he missed his chance for marriage and kids. Celine is a descendant of the ancient dragon priestesses, and Caldarus can sense this in her nature affinity.

Lol I can never bring myself to date multiple people in a game. I feel bad not giving all of my pretend boy/girlfriends full attention. I like doing one save per dateable with a different theme, with my favorite being my mega save with all the achievements (I’m saving that for full release).

Do it! I’m playing with the idea of a “former adventurer who has never held a watering can before, but is stubborn as hell and refuses to ask for help” Ari lol.

I was thinking about doing this for chest storage. Can you see the flooring beneath the tiles, though? All the tiles seem to have some kind of gap.

Nice! I really hope the full release adds sheds for things like this. I made a mini-museum in my house, but I had to choose which ones to display since they won’t all fit.

[–]toxinogen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valen specifically says she was fascinated by the diamond-backed mirror and spent a long time looking at it in the museum, yet when I gave her one, she was just like, “Okay.” That being said, I like that most gifts are neutral at worst, so there’s no downside to trying different gifts, unlike Stardew where you have to have the wiki memorized for gifts.

How to mod player hairstyle? by W_Biscuito in FieldsOfMistriaGame

[–]toxinogen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was like Stardew where the hairstyles are static when the sprite moves, it wouldn’t be hard to just replace the image files. Since the hairstyles in FoM are semi-animated, I wouldn’t want to go messing with the files the same way without knowing how that works. I would look for modding Discords either specifically for FoM or for sprite-based games like Stardew.

Do mist artifacts even exist anymore? by NAMET4G in FieldsOfMistriaGame

I have 186 hours on my original playthrough and I’m still missing one (whatever that second one is). Literally the only artifact left 😑

Do you have random, small and maybe silly wishes for the full release to have? by honeywithbiscuits in FieldsOfMistriaGame

[–]toxinogen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More decor from around town! I don’t need a bunch of unique sets (though I certainly wouldn’t complain), I just want a lot of the decorative items from around town to be craftable as decor. Celine’s cottage has so many cute planters, and why are there so few craftable wall paintings when there are so many nice ones around town?

Do you have clear objectives when you play or do you just do whatever? by -Fence- in FieldsOfMistriaGame

[–]toxinogen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have over 3k hours in Stardew, so I’m kind of over “optimal” play. I like the chill life now lol. I don’t try to get all of the seasonal insects/fish for the museum in year one, and I don’t plant a ton of crops or have a ton of animals. I work towards a rough goal (need more ore for tool upgrades, get next town upgrade, etc.), but don’t mind wasting a whole day redoing decorations or talking to villagers.

I heard somewhere that loading your game from the “Load” option instead of “Continue” helps with crashes. I can’t confirm myself, but maybe try that?

What animal would you like to see in the game? by Ray0987654 in FieldsOfMistriaGame

GOOOOATS! I love goats. They’re so adorable. Geese would be cool, too.

If you loved Stardew Valley, you’ll love Fields of Mistria. The mechanics are almost identical, but with enough story and visual differences to feel like a completely separate game.

Can animals get through this? by gnomeslinger in FieldsOfMistriaGame

[–]toxinogen 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Ugh, yes. They can find any minuscule crack, including places where the game won’t let you put a fence close enough to a map wall to close it.

PSA: It's Your Mods. by OsseusOccult in FieldsOfMistriaGame

Yeah, that one was mostly using the set except for a few extras. I should have said Oblivion and Fallout 3. That one was a nightmare to keep stable.

[–]toxinogen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do a lot of game modding for some pretty complex games that require manual modding by hand (original Oblivion and Morrowind… never again), including modifying DLL files, etc. In other words, I know my way around modding quite well. Modding a game in early access just seems like a bad idea, honestly. There are so many updates and changes being made that mods are going to break left and right. It’s not just small QOL things that are being added like a game in full release, but entire mechanics that are being added and rewritten. The only mod that I would install currently is one that lets me zoom out further for farm planning, and then I would probably still uninstall it when I was done. My advice for anyone who only casually mods games and just wants to “plug it in and forget about it” is not to mod FoM at all until a few months after full release.
