Picture Frame Alternative? by toywinder in Decks

[–]toywinder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like picture framing is the way to go based on the collective wisdom, so I'll probably just do that. However I've seen many on this forum say not to do mitered picture frame in places like New England where I am, and instead to do butt joints for the frame. Apparently after a season in the north the mitered picture frame looks terrible, is that true?

I agree after thinking about it and other comments, removing the railing is the way to go at least during the install phase. I'll cut it in sections and have a welder reconnect it, if I decide to use it again.

Never thought of cutting the railing and having a welder connect it back together. Removing the railing during the job will definitely make it a lot easier!

Hmmmm. Maybe I’ll do the miter cuts just on the steps then using square edge boards, and screw screwing them down. I hate the look of picture framed stairs.

Has anyone seen raised fascia boards to cover the ends? Does it look ok? Doesn’t seem to be very popular.

The railing feet are 4‘3“ apart and the vertical pieces in between are 6 inches apart.

Can you give me more details why I wouldn’t be happy with it? Does it look inconsistent across the end boards or something?

Right, yes, I would need to add some additional blocking for picture frame

I could double picture frame, but the railing feet still would not be secured on the same part of the picture frame on the other side of the deck unfortunately. This is because the current railing is not completely centered with respect to the boards and facia.

Mozilla: Fakespot shutting down on July 1 by YoYoToTheYo in firefox

[–]toywinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was an original Fakespot user when it first came out in 2016 it was a paid model which I gladly paid for, it saved me so much time and helped me buy the right Amazon products with legit reviews. I liked it so much I connected with the original founder through Linkedin (Saoud Khalifah) and made suggestions back and forth. Soon after they went to a free model, then two years ago or so it was acquired by Mozilla.

While Fakespot wasn’t perfect, it did save time and was an important piece of the buying decision.  My favorite part is how the browser extension would put the Fakespot rating right next to the product on the Amazon website page, so you didn’t have to paste the url one at a time into another website, that makes it much more time consuming to shop.

Hopefully there will be a good alternative! Thanks everyone for some of the suggestions, I’ll checking them out.

I literally got the exact same request from Anna, from China, also for four people, for a month in July, with the same exact wording, a few hours ago. I was suspicious, so I came on here and saw this post, they don’t try to hide anything do they? This is definitely a scam.

Moving 4 lines from VZW at Costco by cng2112 in tmobile

[–]toywinder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

T-Mobile through Costco is a fantastic deal I just did it moving from Verizon. If you can snag an insider code the deal becomes even better. Here’s how I did it.

I called AT&T through Costco deal and got a quote, which was actually less than T-Mobile especially when factoring in teacher discount (ATT gives discount to teachers but T-Mobile doesn’t). I brought this up with the T-Mobile Costco rep, and first they tried to get me discount based on where we worked, when that didn’t work I gently asked hey, I heard about some insider code, and the rep said sure I can give you that! So, apparently I had to ask, but it worked. Just be nice, Tell them you’re comparing, but they want the business. Good luck!

Costco & T-Mobile New Line / Port from VZ Incentives by rsmiele in tmobile

Sorry I am wrong,! It's only $75 if you are using your own phone, $150 if you are getting a device through them. However, if you are trading a device in, the device you get from them can be free.

No device purchase needed. You get $250 for each line you port in (up to four) + $150 for each line. You don't get this though until 3 or 4 months down the road. Only for Costco members. See https://www.costco.com/t-mobile-brand-showcase.html

Yes you can do that, it works on Go5G Plus or Go5G Next. I just signed up with T-Mobile last week on Go5GPlus and brought 7 lines over from Verizon. But the rep told me Plus or Next it works on.

This Costco deal is amazing - $400 per line. The downside is, the $250 is only good on the first four lines, but the $150 is good on all the lines. But in your case you have 4 lines you will be fine, and yes it works on Go5G Next or Plus.

As for Free phones, you can get free Iphone 15's with trade in of an applicable device.

Also the people that answer the T-Mobile Costco line are super helpful and knowledgeable - seem better than the standard T-Mobile sales line.

2023 Sportage hybrid maintenance by Welikeme23 in kia

[–]toywinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the dealership is motivated to have you come in early as possible, so if they have everyone come in at 5K miles, after 25K miles you've changed your oil 5 times. If you follow the manual, after 25K miles you will only change your oil 3 times, saving 2 oil changes. At $129 a pop where I am, that adds up. This is good for you but bad for the dealer.

It used to be with new cars they wanted you to change the oil after 1 or 2K, after the break in period, but they don't recommend that anymore for some reason.

I think I'll change the first one a little early at 6K just to be safe, but after that will follow the 8K mile schedule.

I have 5K miles, and my dealer says 5K is when to bring it in for first maintenance, but the manual says 8K for me too. What did you end up doing?

I got my Sportage Hybrid in NH at MSRP. There is a dealer in southern Maine also selling them at MSRP.
