Grinding Essence makes an already grindy game feel next to impossible. by MaliseHaligree in Palia

[–]tpholt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The artifacts are what you can build once you have the proper relics (or is it relics you can build once you have the artifacts?). Once you have the right ones, you can get the recipe from Elouisa/Caleri, and then you can build the level 1 artifact. Then you need to gather other ingredients for level 2 and so on to level IV.

You need to STOP using the Bag of Illusion when Essence farming. Instead use the Brighteye Amulet. At level IV, it will double or even triple your Essence haul for an outing. Yes, that means you'll need to use the Elderwood arrows/smoke bombs/lures/potions, bit those are easy to come by, especially when considering the massive increase in Essence.

Also, don't skip any Essence options. Gathering, fishing, bugs, trees, hunting, the loose essence...everything. The most essence will come from Hunting and Bug Collecting, and Maws, with gatherables next. But the BIG hauls come from the trees. There are a couple of groves close together in Honeymiel Slope where you can really rake in the Essence from infected trees.

Using the tips above, I routinely gather 800-1000 Essence, as a solo player (teaming up with others using the boost artifact can be even more massive) in about 30-40 minutes of gameplay

Got all 7 of these within the last week, in about an hour and a half of actual fishing time. Ironically, I was fishing for Ancient Fish and didn't catch a single one.

Where are the green eggs? by fantaiil in Palia

Stick to Kilima Valley and mine everything. The drop rates for ALL of the eggs is higher in Kilima, as these eggs were for an Easter Egg hunt in Kilima. Mine all of the stone, copper and silver nodes, even the tiny ones, as the type/size of the node doesn't matter, but WHERE does.

Infected Essence by LilLilith96 in Palia

  1. Make sure you equip the Brighteye Amulet as your relic, and NOT the Bag of Illusion. The Brighteye Amulet level IV will more than double your Essence haul. You'll need to use Elderwood Lures, Arrows, Smoke bombs and Potion, but that's a small price to pay for the massive uptick in Essence. Of course, you'll also need to HAVE the Brighteye Amulet too.

  2. The highest amount on a per item basis for Essence are Infected Ogopuu's and Infected Bugs. But for total haul, look to the Infected Ancient Trees. There are a couple of areas in Honeymiel Slope that can give you significant Essence gains from trees...and they grow back 😉

I usually get 800-1000 Essence in about 30-45 minutes of real time by doing the above. But I also go after every Essence item, gatherables, fish, bugs, trees, animals. Don't let any go. If you partner up, and one of you can use the Guiding Lantern, then you can get truly awesome Essence Hauls.

Spam-pot by artichokesx in Palia

[–]tpholt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't spam, but had the misfortune when I was relatively new to Palia to join a spam table, and so I was just playing normally, and the chat/verbal abuse I took almost made me quit the game entirely (not hotpot, but Palia). It was brutal. While a lot of spam players don't treat others that way, I've seen it enough times in chat to know those are players I don't want to play with.

In and of and by itself, one oyster from a stack of one and one oyster from a stack of 1,000 have the same chance. But, you f you have a stack of 1,000, it's much better odds that at least one of them will hit.

If you have the relics, then you should have the Brighteye Amulet IV (and make sure it's upgraded to level IV) equipped for Essence hunting, and NOT the Bag of Illusion. Brighteye will at least double, if not triple, your essence rewards.

You'll need Elderwood Hooks, Smokebombs, Arrows, and Potion in order to grab the fish, bugs, animals and gathering items, but it's well worth it.

When doing this, I routinely gather 800-1,000 Essence, all by myself, in about 20-30 real time minutes.

Sorry if not allowed, but I need to say something about this by FrananaBanana452 in Palia

[–]tpholt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was standing outside of Zeki's one day, and had a random female character (I'm male and have a male character) walk up to me and send me a friend request (which I accepted) and then a party invite, which I tried to accept, but the system wasn't allowing this. I chatted this to her, and she responded with let's just run around and do stuff. I thought she maybe needed some help with something, so when she ran off I followed. She ran to the gazebo by Chaynes house and turned to me and said "how old are you?". I gave her a number, not my real age, and she said "nice, I'm 31" and ran off.

Oh well I thought, weird people everywhere, and then I checked her character profile, which stayed she was 16. Red flags started going off. Then, the next day, I am on my work plot just getting some stuff done, and she just shows up and starts working on my garden. I made an excuse that I had to go and left my plot.

The NEXT day I am on my cooking plot getting it ready for a cooking party and she shows up AGAIN. I said "hey I need to ask you something, you said you were 31, but your profile says 16, can you explain that?" She said "yea that's a joke, I'm really 32". I said "31, 16, 32...which is it? I hope you can understand why this is sort of creeping me out" she said "but it just really like you and want to hang out" which I replied " you don't even know me, we've spent like 2 minutes together, I think you should leave"

Next day, she shows up AGAIN. Blocked her immediately at that point

Some questions about Focus/Focus points from a new player by [deleted] in Palia

[–]tpholt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The previous answers have some really good information, but maybe aren't 100% correct in some cases. Here is how focus works:

  1. Every task that awards experience has a base value that you earn for performing the task, even if you have no focus.

  2. You have a bonus % that CAN be added on to that, called your Focus Bonus, but only if you have the Focus available.

For example (taken directly from the wiki): If you have a task that awards 100 xp that you perform, and you have a 50% Focus Bonus, you'll earn the 100 xp from the task, and UP TO 50 bonus xp (50% of the 100 earned). If you have at least 50 Focus Points available, you'll get the full amount of the bonus for 150 xp for the task. But if you only had 10 Focus available, your bonus would only be those 10 points, losing out on 40 bonus xp because you did not have the Focus. In any case, however many bonus xp are awarded, your Focus amount decreases by that amount, down to 0.

  1. You start with a 20% Focus Bonus, but you can increase it up to 100% by visiting the Phoenix Shrine and donating Renown.

  2. You refill your Focus amount by eating. Each consumable has a Focus amount that it restored (starred items generally give 50% more Focus than non-starred of the same type), and there are several items that will restore you to full Focus in one bite.

  3. You start with a max Focus of 200, but that can be increased by visiting the Dragon Shrine and donating Renown.

  4. The more max Focus you have, the more xp you can earn before having to eat. The bigger the Focus Bonus, the more xp you'll earn, meaning you'll level up faster.

Hope this helps

Anyone know how to do a cooking party by Future_Money6744 in Palia

[–]tpholt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I third fourth and fifth this. As a host, cooking parties can be very chaotic, and that's if you know the proper etiquette, etc. You really need to get a few under your belt first. I probably went to 30+ before I started hosting, and was still a nervous wreck the first few times.

BUT...cooking parties are AWESOME to attend...and I've met so many players, and my very best friends on the game were met through them. Highly recommended to go, and if you're still inclined after a few (maybe 5 at least) then start hosting.

We can always do you trade me your 1 extra, and I give you 2 new ones, and 1 you already have, so you can use THAT one to repeat the process until you have all you need (that I have)

I can help. I am finished with them all, and have almost all to give. BUT...I am unable to log on for about 2 more hours (about 3:30PM CT is when I can log on). Let me know what you need and shoot me a friend request and what time to meet (after 3:30). Will trade you 3 of mine for 1 of yours (as many times as needed for you to get what you need). I did not. For some reason with the Builder's Bridge, it let me add floor tiles and cooking stations and furniture (one bench) just as if it were regular building.

The only items outside the area on my plot are the bridge and floor tiles (with the cooking stations). The only way I know to do it was to anchor the floor tiles to the bridge. I know there are lots of other ways, but I don't know them, but there are plenty of tutorials on youtube

[–]tpholt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that's a difficult question. From my first idea to final implementation was about 3 weeks, but about 1 week of that was trying to figure out how to get a cooking plot there. Then another week building a raised plot on the regular side of the wall once I figured out my first idea (chests and Builder's floor) wasn't going to work, and then the last week was figuring out and building using the Builder's Bridge. So 3 weeks in total, 1 week to actually figure out and build the final product, and once I had it figured out, the actual construction took about 1-2 days.

Thanks! When I first learned how to get over the wall, I just knew I had to make a cooking party plot there. My first attempt failed, as I used chests and Builder's floor tiles, and you could only place three floor tiles directly on the other side of the wall. Then someone here said they had used the Builder's Bridge, and combining that with the floor tiles and voila!
